A little update on the good news moving forward with the podcast!  I want to be transparent, say thank you, and show the kids that what I teach them each week, I actually apply to my own life! Thanks for your support, prayers, and for walking alongside this podcast so that it can continue to reach families with God's word.  ------------ If you would like to receive ad free episodes and get the weekly bonus content, go here
John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19 All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bible and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one.  Thanks for listening! I hope this helps facilitate good conversations between you and your children. ----------  🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted onetime payment annual plan Your gift will help us reach our goal of 500 Paying pateron members. 📖 Genesis 39Today’s episode tells the  story of Joseph in Egypt from Genesis 39. Joseph worked hard, honored God, and stayed faithful—even when he was far from home, surrounded by people who didn’t know God, and when doing the right thing cost him something. His story reminds us that: God is with us everywhere. We can choose what is right, even when no one is watching. Life isn’t always fair—but God always sees our faithfulness. 👉 Parental Note:This episode includes an age-appropriate adaptation of a sensitive detail from Genesis 39 in order to remain respectful of our young listeners. We encourage parents to read the full passage in Genesis 39 and explore it further with your children in a way that fits your family’s needs and age level. -------------------------- 🛠 Bonus Tools for Families:Check out our downloadable activity sheet and coloring page that goes along with this episode — a simple way for kids to track acts of bravery and how God helped them in their week! 📖 Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:1–8 & Joshua 1:1–11 School is starting! And whether your child is excited, nervous, or somewhere in between — this episode offers encouragement straight from the Bible. Join us as we step into the sandals of Joshua — a man about to take on a big new job in a brand-new place. Moses, his wise and aged mentor, passes on the baton, and God reminds Joshua (and us!) of one powerful truth: You don’t have to be brave by yourself — God goes with you. We’ll explore what it means to trust God when facing something new, whether that’s a classroom, a new friend group, or the start of a school year. -------------------------- Thanks to today's voice guest, Clayton Greene. Clayton is one of the co-founders of GoodKind, the maker of Advent Blocks. Luke 10:38-42 Today, we hear the story of two sisters — Mary and Martha! They welcomed Jesus into their home. While Martha hurried about making everything just right, Mary quietly sat at Jesus’ feet and listened to every word He said. Jesus loved them both — the busy one and the quiet one — just like He loves you! Sometimes you’ll be like Mary, quietly close to Jesus. Other times you might be like Martha, busy with chores, homework, or sports that are yelling, “Do me first!” But Jesus gently reminds us: putting Him first is what matters most. Kids will hear what that actually looks like and are reminded He doesn’t love you because you work hard — psst! — you don’t have to earn His love. He loves you because you’re His. ---------- ------------ 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted annual plan Your gift will help us reach our goal of 250 new patreon members. Mark 10:35–45 In today’s episode, we hear the surprising story of James and John asking Jesus a very big question — and how the other disciples reacted!  Jesus teaches them (and us!) something amazing — true greatness doesn’t come from bossing people around or being first. It comes from serving others, just like Jesus did. He is the King of kings, but He came to help, love, and give His life for us. At the end, we talk about simple ways kids can follow Jesus’ example this week - to keep their eyes open for ways to be a helper. Helpers serve and whether it’s big or small, it makes a  difference.  They are reminded that when you help someone, you are serving — just like Jesus did. He is our perfect example.------------ 🎁 Join the team:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted annual plan Your gift will help us reach our goal of 1,000 supporters. John 4:1-16 & John 7:37-39 At Jacob’s well, Jesus surprises a Samaritan woman by asking for a drink and then offering her “living water”—not the cool well water she expected. Kids will hear the conversation they have as the woman is puzzled by Jesus’ words.  She is also shocked that even though He knew her past, He spoke kindly and welcomed her.  Enjoyed this story? #377: Growing Pains

#377: Growing Pains

2025-06-1814:22

James 1:1–8
Has your child ever asked, "Why do hard things happen?" In this episode, we explore James 1 and the surprising truth that God can use our trials—yes, even the tough, painful ones—to help us grow stronger in our faith. We compare it to growing pains in our bodies: it may hurt, but it’s often a sign of growth! With an encouraging story about a girl training for a big bike race, we help kids understand what James means when he says to “consider it pure joy” during hard times and the "why" behind it.
I also remind young listeners that not all pain means growth—sometimes it’s a sign we need help and they should talk to their parents about it. **PARENTS: Kids Bible Stories isn’t backed by a big studio—just me, handcrafting the stories I wish I had as a child and now create for my own. By God’s grace, we’ve had over 14 million downloads, and we rank in the Top 50 Christian podcasts in the U.S.. This is proof that His Word is reaching little hearts around the world. But I need your help. After losing all ad funding, I chose faith over commercials—trusting the families who love this podcast to keep it going. Now, God has opened a new door: translating the stories into Spanish to reach even more kids globally. But this next step depends on listener support. 🎁 How You Can Help:Visit https://www.kbspodcast.com/ and click Support & Bonus Content You can: 💛 Give a one-time gift 🙌 Join Patreon for just $5/month and receive weekly bonus content 📅 Or choose a discounted annual plan Your gift will help us reach our goal of 1,000 supporters. Acts 3:1–16 Peter and John were headed to the temple to pray when a man who couldn’t walk asked them for money. But instead of coins, Peter offered something far greater—the healing power of Jesus! In this episode, children will hear how Peter did what he could, and then God did what only He could do.With joyful storytelling, sound imagery, and gentle reflection, this episode teaches kids that we can be part of God’s miracles—not because we're powerful, but because He is! 🌟 Key Takeaways for Kids: We get to play a part in God's miracles. We can do what we can do, and trust God to do what we can’t. The power wasn't in Peter—it was in Jesus’ name. ------------------------------------------------------ Check out the Boom Clap Podcast! Hebrews 11:1–12  This episode gently helps children understand the meaning of faith—believing even when we cannot see. Using the beautiful imagery of cloud-covered mountains, your child will hear how faith is trusting that God is still there, even when He feels hidden. Through Hebrews 11, kids will meet faithful people like Abel, Noah, Enoch, and Abraham and learn how each one trusted in what they couldn't yet see.  Your child will be encouraged to think, reflect, and respond—with interactive questions and warm storytelling designed to make deep spiritual truths both understandable and relatable. ----------------------------- To join the team supporting this podcast and also enjoy weekly bonus content PLUS access to the entire library of bonus content  go here and click bonus content.   You’re not just funding a podcast. 📖 Main Scriptures: Leviticus 1:3–4, John 1:29, Hebrews 9:12 Why did people in the Bible sacrifice animals? Wasn’t that a little… strange? In today’s special episode, we explore a question many of you have asked—and the answer helps us understand just how incredible Jesus’ love really is. We’ll travel back to the Garden of Eden, hear about how sin entered the world, and discover why people once used animals to cover their sin. Then we’ll meet someone called The Lamb of God—Jesus—and learn why He came to be the final sacrifice once and for all. Kids will hear the difference between covering sin and cleansing it—and why Jesus' love changes everything. ✨ Big Ideas for Little Hearts: Sin is serious—but God’s love is bigger. Animal sacrifices pointed to Jesus. Jesus didn’t just cover our sin—He takes it away. When we mess up, we go to Jesus—not to a priest with a lamb. Luke 22:31-34, 54-62, & John 21:1-17 In today’s episode, we follow one of Jesus’ closest friends—Peter. From the quiet upper room, to the dark courtyard, and finally to breakfast on the beach, we’ll hear how Peter made a big promise to Jesus… and then broke it. But the story doesn’t end there. After Jesus rises from the dead, He lovingly gives Peter a second chance. This is a beautiful story of sadness, forgiveness, and hope—a reminder that Jesus never gives up on us, even when we mess up.   Big Ideas for Little Hearts: Jesus knows we’ll make mistakes, but He still loves us deeply. Peter denied Jesus three times, but Jesus forgave him and gave him a new job. Seeing the risen Jesus changed Peter from afraid to brave! No matter how far we run, Jesus welcomes us back and gives us a fresh start. ******Check out Andrew Kerhoulas' music with Brother K and Hearth Hymns*** -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To join the team supporting this podcast and also enjoy weekly bonus content PLUS access to the entire library of bonus content  go here and click bonus content.   You’re not just funding a podcast. John 19, Matthew 28, Luke 23, & 1 Corinthians 15:55 In this powerful Easter episode, we continue our journey following the sorrow of the cross to the joy of the resurrection. Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus lovingly bury Jesus, and guards are posted at the tomb. But on the third day, something incredible happens—Jesus rises from the dead! With awe and joy, the women discover the empty tomb and meet Jesus alive again. Children are reminded that the cross was not the end—Jesus conquered sin and death, just like He said He would. Because He lives, we have forgiveness and hope! Matthew 27, John18 & 19 , &  Luke 23  I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of this for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family. We begin our story with Jesus speaking with Pilate and end with the crucifixion. The kids will hear: -The meaning of the torn veil (listen to episode #281 to go further) -This was God's plan; there were no mistakes, no surprises. Jesus chose to lay down His life, and by doing so, Jesus took the weight of every sin, past, present, and future. -It's not always as it seems. The cross is not the end of the story. We have hope because of what happened 3 days later! --------------------- To enjoy bonus content for the episodes which also supports us, go here To connect with us go here For our free read-a-loud pdf book get it free here See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Matthew 26:36-56 We continue our Easter series.  I respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.  I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. It starts at #369. This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why? Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much! The children will be reminded that Jesus is always in control and that He loves them very much! ------------------------------------- To enjoy the bonus content for this (coloring pages, and more) which also keeps this podcast free for 1,000's of families to access, go here. Matthew 26, John 13, &  1John 1:9  We begin our Easter series with: Hearing Jesus, the king of kings, serving and loving his disciples by washing their feet. Introduce the betrayal BUT remind kids that Jesus was not alarmed by this. Jesus knows everything and this isn't "throwing off his plans."  Learn the significance of the passover (We keep it age appropriate; if you want help talking further about the passover, head over to my IG @kidsbiblestories ) Explain the connection of the last supper and communion. As always it will be a fun journey that engages the kids and is explained on their level so they can apply and remember it.
