Description

We are two young moms that are committed to loving motherhood because we believe that it is something to be enjoyed, not just endured. We want to cherish the sweet moments and be present during the hard ones while we grow alongside our children. As we have entered motherhood, we have found so much comfort and value in conversations with women in all different stages of motherhood and We are here to share those conversations so we can grow together and embrace all of the joy modern motherhood brings.

In this episode we discuss the current favorite books and shows we have been consuming, followed by a few recent favorite purchases. Our episode topic is based off of a phrase that Paris' mom used growing up: "That's life happening for you." She used this phrase to indicate that sometimes things out of your control (whether they seem good or bad) are actually working together in your favor. We talk about a few of the ways we've seen life happening for us over the last few years. Submission Episode!! This episode was inspired by Brooke Romney’s 52 Modern Manners for Kids. Do you ever find yourself realizing as your kid shouts the details of their latest bathroom break in the grocery store that maybe they didn’t know the unspoken rule of not talking about that information in public? There are plenty of societal norms and manners that are unspoken as adults that actually need to be laid out to children. We accepted submissions from listeners for this topic and have compiled them all here! In this episode we talk about accepting invitations, bathroom etiquette, being a good friend, and more.If you enjoyed this episode of Kindred Conversations, join us next week! This episode is a discussion about bringing other adult figures into your children's life in the form of teachers, nannies, babysitters, etc. We talk about how expanding your childrearing village isn't handing your child off to be raised by someone else, but supplementary to the work you are doing in parenting. There are so many benefits to expanding your village and giving your child some space to figure out who they are without you around all the time. Thanks for joining us this week! This episode topic has been an interesting thought claiming space in my mind over the last couple of months. In taking the role of parenting seriously, I often blur the lines between “teaching” and “supporting” with “molding” and “controlling”. It’s taken a reality check or two to remind me that my children are not, in fact, blank slates to be molded into what I see as the perfect human. Rather, they are unique individuals having a unique experience in this world and I am but a mentor to help guide them in navigating their own journey. In this episode we talk about exposure, shifting our mindsets, and encouraging our children’s self proposed interests. This episode has been brought on by feeling like some of the foundational principles we relied on in "gentle parenting" weren't quite meeting our needs as our children (in age and numbers) have grown. How do you move forward with confidence in parenting when the rules that guided you originally are falling short? In this episode we talk about our evolution of thoughts on parenting: what we've taken with us and what we we've changed our minds on. We talk through consequences, feeling like our hands our physically full, how we want to navigate parenting moving forward, and dealing with emotions in children.
