Gee Whiz

I once saw Jim speak while he was on a book tour. He seemed like a reasonable guy. But as an old man, he’s turned into a conspiracy theory crank. His guests tend to be worse, however, such as in Episode 358: Larry Johnson, a bonafide Putin propagandist. It almost seems like Jim couldn’t get Micheal Flynn to come on the pod but still needed to fill his craving for conspiracy theories. It’s doubtful Jim knows anyone in Ukraine (he probably would have said something if he did). I know people in Ukraine — although since the invasion, many of them are refugees and some are missing — and I can tell you with certainty that Johnson sprinkles some truths in with his lies. Since the average person can’t tell which parts of his narrative are lies (much of it), Johnson here is essentially a useless source of information. You’re better off reading a book. You can find some decent open-access books to download at places like the E-International Relations website. If you simply want to hear Russian p

Episode 350 is utter garbage. Casey and Kunstler — obviously knowing next to nothing about medicine or the health sciences in general — come across as two senile and antiquated conspiracy theorists who feed off the lowest common denominator propaganda they read in their daily mis/disinformation feeds. Honestly you could "learn" as much by listening to any QAnon-type podcast as you would from listening to this episode. It’s fine to be ignorant of science, but if you broadcast baseless, uninformed opinions about it you can expect to be treated like a fool. Perhaps they are open to the truth, but these two men seem so absorbed by contrarianism that they are rapidly losing touch with reality. As Mr Casey is an Aynhead (it’s easy to become an “anarcho-capitalist” when you’re the son of a multimillionaire real estate developer), we are reminded in this episode that he is devoid of a moral compass. I usually buy books instead of stealing them, but I downloaded a couple of Casey’s books for fr

Episode 343 was informative and worth listening to despite the age-old “what’s wrong with kids today” trope you’ll hear. I’m pleased with the ability of Jim to find guests who provide opinions or facts not found in most podcasts. Not sure what happened to Jim though, he doesn’t seem to be getting wiser with age. I can’t imagine Jim watching the Fox News Channel every night, but he certainly has internalized most of their talking points somehow.

What a load of bigotry. I had only listened to a few of Kunstler’s first podcasts, due to my background in architecture, and hadn’t realized how much of a bigot this man was until now. Listen to this episode first to get a true sense of his abhorrently paranoid way of seeing the world. Ever wonder how in the hell people start to spew misinformation and believe in conspiracy theories? It starts with people listening to this crap. Kunstler is pushing the same messages as the far-right, under the guise of an author and an intellectual. It’s also sad to see that the guest on this episode teaches at a university and is just as bigoted as his host (this tends to be the case with parasites).
