Welcome back to another episode of The DREAM B.I.G Podcast. It has been a while since an episode was last posted, but we have a few more coming your way! In this episode, we welcome Ms. Tamya Anderson & Dr. Katya Salmi as our guests, who will guide us in discussing the topic of Critical Race Theory. Tamya is a graduate of the University of MD College Park. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology & Criminal Justice with a minor certificate in Black Women’s Studies; starting this fall, Tamya will be starting at Howard University, pursuing a law degree, with the goal of working with domestic violence victims involved in the justice system. Dr. Katya Salmi is the Associate Professor of Sociology at Montgomery College Rockville Campus. Dr. Salmi received her Bachelor’s degree in History and Anthropology from the University of Toronto, her Master’s degree in Human Rights from the University of College London, and finally, her Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Sussex. Her background is in mental health treatment, social work, and environmental justice, among others. She previously taught at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, within the Sociology and Social Work Department. While there, she taught the first Environmental Justice and Social Work course. She also worked with a variety of mental health practices, including starting her own practice in Manhattan before moving to Washington, DC. We are so honored to have her as our guest.
