The purpose of this podcast series is to discuss some of the biggest issues in the world we live in and issues that we may face over the next decade. We are not here to solve those issues, just to bring them into focus.  Alongside this series, we ran an online residency programme called Tech for The Public Good. In partnership with the British Council and the University of Leeds's Horizons Institute, we brought together artists, creatives and academics from around the world to spend 10 days together to discuss how we can use technology to help societies from all over the world. During this time they prototyped solutions using technology and creativity to tackle global issues that they collectively decide upon. The conversations in this podcast series we're aimed to inform their process and get them talking about their own lived experiences or prompting creative responses.  In our fourth podcast of the series, we spoke to Dr Alice Owens, Lucy Brooks and Elizabeth Edgington on how tech can be a vital tool in combating climate change and the immediate disaster the globe is facing. Discussing the aftermath of COP 26 and ways in which we can utilise tech to do our part in creating a greener more sustainable world.     Hosts: Anna Turzynski – Producer, LEEDS 2023 Adam Sas-Skowronski - LEEDS 2023, Creative Technologists  https://leeds2023.co.uk/  Panel:   Dr Alice Owens: Professor in School of Earth & Environment at the University of Leeds  https://environment.leeds.ac.uk/see/staff/1463/dr-alice-owen  Lucy Brooks: NHS Leadership Fellow in Climate Change and Anesthesia  https://www.linkedin.com/in/lucy-brooks-0635b2190/?originalSubdomain=uk  Elizabeth Edgington: Environment Adviser at Business in the Community  https://uk.linkedin.com/in/elizabeth-edgington-72b51717  Audio Edited by:  Sable Radio https://www.sableradio.live/

The Wise Women Conversations are a series of discussions between artist and academic Dr Gillian Dyson, and women involved in some way with the Leeds 2023 Year of Culture programme: artists, curators, programme managers or community leaders. The recordings were made with some live listeners, in the Leeds ‘23 Hub in Trinity shopping mall, September 2023. The conversations followed a thread of discussion wherever it might take us. The result is a series of candid exchanges from women with strong ideas, experience, and knowledge to share. Experience the new public artwork Making A Stand in City Square that reawakens history and captures the magic of the Forest of Leodis, with a audio description recorded on site by Vicky Ackroyd of Totally Inclusive People. Inspired by Leeds' roots as an ancient woodland, world-famous visual artist Michael Pinsky and award-winning environmental architects Studio Bark put sustainability at the heart of this epic piece for LEEDS 2023.  Take in the architecture and beauty of the sculpture, learn about the stories and materials that brought it to life, or sit back and enjoy inspiring events and performances, including work led by Leeds Beckett students.  We invite you to come play in the forest in the centre of Leeds.
Earlier this year, LEEDS 2023 helped form a global collaboration between Knaive Theatre and KL Shakespeare Players. The two companies would only ever meet online, but their chemistry resulted in the successful delivery of a major research project.    This collaboration was explored in a roundtable chat between members of Knaive Theatre & KLSP, chaired brilliantly by Florence Lambert at British Council Malaysia. Listen back to the conversation with this special episode of the LEEDS 2023 Podcast.
