Asthamalagan is a divine boy who was immersed in Atman when Authi Sankara met him.  To his questions "WHO ARE YOU" the boy replied in 15 Verses in Sanscrit which is called Asthamalagam.  Ramana Bhagavan translated them into chaste Tamil for the benefit of His devotees.
