Today Bed Threads is more than just sheets, it's a community with over 300K followers on Instagram and growing. Their unique brand is a combination of lifestyle, interiors and wellness. So how did Bed Threads disrupt an already saturated market? And what is Gen's advice to other Lady Startups wanting to cultivate a community? Genevieve joins Georgia Love... Maeva Heim knows what it takes to build and market a brand. She'd done it for years at  L'Oreal, Oral B, Procter and Gamble, and she knew she wanted to do it for herself one day, she just didn't know what...  That was until she got the idea for Bread Supply Beauty, hair care basics for not so basic hair. Maeva knew the beauty industry needed a bit of a shakeup when it came to haircare for naturalistas like her. So after a whole lot of research, multiple rounds of testing and some savvy networking she managed to launch her first range into Sephora US, in the midst of a global pandemic. After only one year in business, Bread Supply Beauty has secured multiple international awards, has launched in three countries and has empowered curly girls everywhere, so how'd she do it?  Maeva joins Georgia Love...  LINKS You can follow Bread Beauty Supply's journey on Instagram or online at breadbeautysupply.com CREDITS Host: Georgia Love, Co-Founder of Georgia Elliot Sleepwear Guest: Maeva Heim Producer: Mikayla Floriano Executive Producer: Elissa Ratliff Are you busting to start your own business but you don’t know where to start? You’ve launched your business, or maybe you’ve been running your business for a while, and now you need practical tips to turn followers into sales.  Followers are a wonderful thing but if you’re running a business, the point of those followers is to turn them into customers - people who will pay you money for your products or your services. Right now you might be questioning whether your product or service is actually good enough. Maybe it’s not what people are looking for? Maybe no one will ever be willing to pay for it?  Chances are it is good enough, there are people looking for it and those people will absolutely be willing to pay for it.  So what’s missing? You’re not nurturing your customers.  In this episode, we look at how you can turn followers into paying customers. We discuss… Methods that you can start using today to support your customers more. Learning about the impact something as simple as a birthday discount can have on the perception of your business. How to make your customers and feel like valued friends and how this strategy can lead to free promo for your business. What are your pain points? You know, the things that as a customer you wish were different?  For Mia Klitsas it was tampons, specifically the flimsy paper packaging they come in. And at 21 in the year 2005, she decided enough was enough. She got her life savings together, borrowed money from the bank and got her friends and family to invest in her business, Moxie. Tampons in cute tins that won’t show up unannounced.  Now, Over fifteen years later Moxie is so much more. They sell a full range of eco-friendly, plant-based, biodegradable and fun period care products all while helping educate and de-stigmatise periods in Australia and across the globe. A finely ground powder of green tea leaves. Little did she know that that discovery would lead her to start a side hustle called Matcha Maiden and later on, become a full-time self-described fun-trepreneur.  Sarah is also the host of the Seize The Yay podcast and has just written a book, totally transforming what was once her corporate career into a LadyStartup. Starting a business is a lot...but what does it actually mean for you? Would you finally be able to dedicate yourself to that passion project you’ve been working on when time (and life) allows? What about financial freedom? Would it mean bringing in a second income? Relieving some of the stress from you and your family? Would it mean working from home and not missing those family moments? Maybe it would mean being your own boss? Having something interesting to say when someone asks “So, what do you do?” Stepping out of your comfort zone, and getting that sense of purpose you just haven’t found in any other job? Honestly, we relate. To every single one of those reasons. Which is why Mia has created the Activation Plan. To show any woman how to start any kind of business. The Activation Plan has been tried and tested by over 2,800 Lady Startups and counting. Tested by literally thousands of women just like you. Women with a business idea, or a side-hustle. Women who, at the end of the Activation Plan, had the clarity, direction, and confidence, as well as the tools and support they needed to launch their business right. And they have! Thousands of businesses and side-hustles have been started by women who did this course with Mia. Are you ready to start your own business or side-hustle? Michael Bublé, Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Jules Sebastian, Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Human Nature. What do all these famous musicians have in common? They are just a small fraction of the talent managed by today’s guest, Jennifer Fontaine. Jennifer started her career at Sony Music Entertainment Australia, before moving on to Warner Music Group. But then, like so many women, she decided she wanted to do exactly what she wanted to do. She wanted to work for herself. So in 2007, she founded Private Idaho Management, and began to look after the careers of Human Nature, and Guy & Jules Sebastian. But with offices in both Sydney and LA, Jen was travelling a lot. There are some products that you need but just aren’t fun to buy. Coat hangers, staples, ironing boards, flour... Here’s an idea for a business: find a product nobody likes buying and then make a version of it that people will describe as a “cult buy”. That’s what Ava Matthews and her business partner Bec Jefferd did when they noticed that skincare was having a moment but sunscreens were a product that just weren't very…. sexy. They changed that, almost overnight, with Ultra Violette. Their range of sunscreens come in distinctive bright blue packaging that you've probably seen all over Instagram. So, how did they do it? What was their approach to revolutionising a whole category?  Mia Freedman chatted to Ava to find out.  THE END BITS: Check out Ultra Violette here - https://ultraviolette.com.au/.  You can follow Ava Matthews on Instagram here - https://www.instagram.com/avamatthews/?hl=en.  Are you busting to start your own business but you don’t know where to start? You asked. We listened. You’ve been asking us to create a course for women who already have a business or a side-hustle. Who have stalled or who need to pivot. Who need specific guidance and group mentoring. And that is just what we’ve done. Welcome to The Rocket Plan. A plan for your next 12 months of business growth, completed in just 3 weeks. We’ll show you how to save time and skip the anxiety when you create content for social media. We’ll demystify what platforms you should actually be using and the ones to ditch immediately. You’ll learn how to increase high-quality traffic to your website (that means customers who are more likely to buy from you) and how to understand the chaotic and confusing world of Facebook ads. We’ll step you through what you need to refine your website design and tweak your sales copy so that you get more customers. We’ll also explain why email lists are even more important for your business than social media and then we’ll show you in detail how to get people onto your list and what to send them. AND in the 3 weeks of this course, we’ll set you up with a clear plan - a ROCKET PLAN - for the next 12 months of business success. And GROWTH. The best bit: in our signature Lady Startup style, we’ll build an instant support network around you. Because running a business is hard. And it’s even harder when you’re doing it alone. Nobody has time for networking so we’re providing you with a network; you’ll find your tribe amongst a tight knit community of like minded women who are on the same path you are, all building a better, more successful business. Plus, when you enrol you’ll receive $753 in bonus resources! Advanced Bonus Module: How To Power Up With Paid Marketing Valued at $299 10 Scalable Digital Product Ideas Valued at $29 10 Common Website Mistakes (+ How To Fix Them) Valued at $29 6 Ways To Boost List Sign Ups On Your Website Valued at $29 Ultimate Time-Saving Content Template Valued at $29 Social Media Marketing Planner Valued at $59 3x Group Mentoring Sessions With Mia Freedman Valued at $150 Private Facebook Group Support Network Valued at $129 Yes, I’m ready to grow my business. Great podcast! Good in-depth interviews which draw out real insights us budding entrepreneurs can use when starting our businesses. Finding a lot more usable info in this podcast than many I've listened to.
