Her Story Your Story | A protector of freedom through wealth | Mary Jayne Gold

Mary Jayne Gold — Bravery, Compassion & Quiet ResistanceHave you watched Transatlantic on Netflix? At first glance, it might seem like a stylized drama—but it’s rooted in truth. And this week, I’m telling the true story of Mary Jayne Gold, a woman sometimes dismissed as just “a rich girl who didn’t care about money.”But that’s far from the truth. In Nazi-occupied France, Mary chose to stay and fight. She helped thousands of refugees escape, including luminaries like Marc Chagall and Hannah Arendt. She used her wealth to buy fake passports, bribe officials, and provide safe houses—all while risking arrest every single day.She could have lived in comfort. But instead, she chose courage. In her memoir Crossroads Marseille 1940, she recounts this powerful journey. And in this podcast, I hope to honor her—bringing her voice to the Chinese-speaking world where so little is known about her.💡 Her story is a reminder: you don’t have to be loud to be brave.Sometimes, bravery is a quiet decision to help—when it would be easier to walk away.🎙️ Listen to the episode and be inspired by a woman who lit up history’s darkest hour.#MaryJayneGold #Transatlantic #WomenInHistory #PodcastHighlight #RefugeeSupport #WomenWhoChangeTheWorld #LaraGlobalPedia

Her Story Your Story | The trailblazer behind women’s suffrage in New Zealand | Kate Sheppard

🌍 #HerStoryYourStory 🌟 🎙️ This week on LaraGlobalPedia, we honor the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women by sharing the incredible story of Kate Sheppard, the trailblazer behind women’s suffrage in New Zealand. 💡 Did you know that in 2023, every 10 minutes a woman is killed by a partner or family member? 💔 Kate witnessed the devastating impact of violence fueled by alcohol and decided to take action—first through temperance, then by championing women’s voting rights. Her efforts made New Zealand the first country in the world to grant women the vote in 1893! 📜 Kate’s fight reminds us that the rights we have today—like voting, education, and safety—were not freely given but hard-won by pioneers like her. 🔑 Her words still inspire us:"Do not think your single vote does not matter much. The rain that refreshes the parched ground is made up of single drops." 🎧 Listen now to learn how one woman’s courage transformed society and what we can do to continue her legacy. ✨ Let’s honor the women who fought for our freedoms and stand up for those who still need our support. Her Story Your Story | The first Iranian and Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize | Shirin Ebadi

Shirin Ebadi - Iranian female lawyer and human rights activist, the first Iranian and Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. 🌟Do you remember the news from a while ago: a young Iranian woman was taken by the religious police for not wearing her headscarf properly, and three days later, she died... The official statement was that she had a heart attack, but her family and the public believe she was beaten to death. This incident sparked almost nationwide protests in Iran, which have been ongoing for nearly six months now and are only growing stronger. Over these months, many Iranian women have removed their headscarves and even burned them in protest. It’s not because they don’t want to or dislike wearing headscarves, but because the choice to wear one should be their own, not forced upon them. The Islamic Revolution of 1979 took away the freedom of Iranian women...Shirin Ebadi, who became the first female judge at the age of 28, is a direct victim of this revolution. She was stripped of her right to serve as a judge due to her gender. She then became a human rights lawyer, advocating for persecuted political prisoners and voicing the rights of vulnerable children and women. Shirin Ebadi's work earned her the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003, and she used the prize money to establish the "Center for Defenders of Human Rights." In addition to being a lawyer, Ebadi is also an author. In her books, she discusses the relationship between Islam and human rights, and she actively promotes and encourages modernization and progress in Islamic countries, having a profound impact on the global human rights movement. #herstoryyourstory #ShirinEbadi #womenempowerment

Her Story Your Story | A Nobel peace prize winner in her seventeen | Malala Yousafzaite

Malala Yousafzai – The Girl Who Was Shot for Wanting to Go to SchoolStarting from August 2021, with the withdrawal of US troops and the Taliban's complete control over Afghanistan, the previous shackles returned to the Afghan people. For 14 million women, it can be said that they are inching closer to hell...One year after the Taliban regained control, they started to impose rules that girls could only attend school up to the sixth grade. After elementary school, they had to stay at home and were not allowed to go out alone. When outside, they had to be accompanied by a male elder from their family; otherwise, they would be whipped on the streets. High schools were banned, and in December last year, they went a step further by banning university entrance exams. At the beginning of 2023, they ordered that women could not work in non-profit organizations. Most NGOs take care of vulnerable groups, such as children's and women's healthcare. The Taliban strictly prohibit any contact between men and women, so once there are no female workers, the female beneficiaries will also lose those who help them...Within a month of the order being issued, three international NGO organizations had closed. How many children might lose their lives as a result?Malala, a girl from the mountains of Pakistan, was shot at the age of 15 for protesting against the Taliban's deprivation of girls' right to education. Fortunately, she was promptly sent to the UK for medical treatment, not only saving her life but also strengthening her resolve. Malala decided to let the whole world know how girls in Taliban-controlled areas were losing their right to education. She wanted to use her example to show girls that they could change their destiny. With a pen, a book, a teacher, and a student, they could change the world! You might have heard of her, this brave woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17. But for this episode, you must listen! Share Malala's story; it's not just one girl's story but the story of 14 million, of countless women... #herstoryyourstory #malalayousafzai #womenempowerment

Her Story Your Story | The Brave 9-year-old Girl Fighting For Equal Rights | Audrey Faye Hendricks

"Her Story Your Story" has not been updated for 3 weeks. Apart from being very busy, Lara put all the attention on the Israel/Palestine war, which has now entered its 33rd day. I feel that in the face of such a human tragedy, it doesn't seem quite right to introduce any particular person... Over these weeks, Lara kept incessantly watching related videos every day, searching for what has happened in Palestine over the past 75 years, organizing information, and thinking about how to discuss the origins of this war with students in the class...  Recently, Lara received a collection of English poems written by Palestinian students. Although some of these 50 students are confirmed dead and others are mostly missing, wherever they are now, every word of theirs is a trace of their lives. So, Lara decided to read their poems one by one, to let everyone hear their voices. Even though we are not related, Lara wants to use her modest strength and platform to leave a trace of their lives. - From ancient times to the present, unfairness and injustice have always existed. Due to there’re people standing up, voicing for their different opinions until they were heard of led to the so-called democracy, instead of a dictatorship where one person makes all the decisions. In America, there was once a group of brave African American children who, when all the adults were too afraid to speak up for themselves, decided to fill the jails with their bodies, until the jails could no longer hold one more black person. Perhaps on that day, the unfair racial segregation policies could be lifted. And today's protagonist is the youngest of those children, 9-year-old Audrey Faye Hendricks. Let's listen to her story together! #RacialSegregationPolicies #CivilRightsMovement #HerStoryYourStory

Her Story Your Story | First Female Doctors in Japan, India and Syria | Dr. Keiko Okami, Dr. Anandabai Joshi and Dr. Tabat Islamboli

🌟 Originally, I planned to share the story of this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner from Iran, but a photo from 1885 caught my eye. It featured three women from India, Syria, and Japan - all graduates from an all-women's medical college. 🎓 They became pioneers as female doctors in their countries. This photo deeply touched me, so I decided to share their stories today. Meet Dr. Keiko Okami, Dr. Anandabai Joshi, and Dr. Tabat Islamboli. 🩺 Graduates from the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1885. This institution was founded in 1850 by visionaries who saw the importance of women in medicine. Their stories are a testament to resilience and determination. They paved the way for women's rights and opportunities. Her Story Your Story | A Sincere Hollywood Superstar | Kate Winslet

#HerStoryYourStory #WomenEmpowerment “Every night in my dream, I see you, I feel you…” This sentence is from a familiar song, which was the theme song of the blockbuster Hollywood movie Titanic over 20 years ago. The female lead in this movie, Rose, was played by the then 22-year-old British actress Kate Winslet. The character's courage to pursue her dreams and her determination in love brought tears to the eyes of many at that time. In real life, Kate Winslet is also a sincere person. This week, when thinking about which woman to introduce, Lara actually pondered for a long time. If we're just looking for an outstanding woman from history or the present, there are countless candidates. At least I, Lara, am someone who relies a lot on intuition for my work. Because of recent events in my life, I've realized that even a brief sentence or a single look can encourage and help others. Don't hesitate to release these small acts of kindness because they could become a significant source of inspiration in someone's life. Lara aspires to be someone who uplifts others, allowing those who have crossed paths with her in life, whether briefly or for an extended period, to gain strength through her. This is my self-expectation, and while I may never achieve perfection, I am willing to try! The protagonist of today's episode is each and every one of you! On word can change the world. I do believe so! #HerStoryYourStory #InfluentialPeople #Women #PersistentWomen #KateWinslet #warmwords

Her Story Your Story | Mother Of The Atomic Bomb | Lise Meitner

#HerStoryYourStory #WomenEmpowerment Lise Meitner (1878~1968) She was a great researcher, almost contemporaneous with Madame Curie, and was nominated 48 times for the Nobel Prize in Chemistry/Physics.  In her childhood in Austria, education for females was only allowed until the age of 14, after which they were expected to prepare for marriage, so despite her remarkable intelligence, she had to temporarily halt her studies. She later continued her education on her own and, when the law allowed, became Vienna's second female Doctor. However, due to the gender barrier, she eventually had to move to the University of Berlin in Germany for her research, but still faced difficulties for the same reason. During her time at the University of Berlin, there wasn't even a women's restroom, and her position as a research assistant was not highly regarded by the professors. Fortunately, she had a companion who respected and appreciated her, inviting her to collaborate on research and offering her an unpaid adjunct position. When World War I broke out, like Madame Curie, Meitner drove an X-ray vehicle on the front lines in France to assist soldiers. Meanwhile, Curie served as an X-ray nurse in field hospitals, helping Austrian front-line soldiers. Before World War II and the rise of the Nazis, Meitner could no longer stay in Germany. She eventually fled to Switzerland and continued to remotely participate in nuclear reaction research. In 1939, she successfully explained the theoretical principles of nuclear fission, which became a crucial foundation for the later development of the atomic bomb. She was invited to the United States to join the Manhattan Project, but due to her steadfast pacifism and belief that science should not be used for military purposes, she declined. She remained committed to opposing nuclear weapons until her last moments. Lise Meitner, because of her gender and Jewish identity, despite her extraordinary scientific contributions, remains buried in the currents of history... **************** "Life need not be easy, what's important is that it not be empty" #HerStoryYourStory #InfluentialPeople #Women #PersistentWomen #Gender #RacialDiscrimination #Jewish #AtomicBomb #NuclearFission #MotherOfTheAtomicBomb #AntiNuclearAdvocate
