Patty Hearst, granddaughter of the publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst, was kidnapped in 1974 and after being found alive, a year and a half later, ended up being sentenced to thirty-five years in prison for bank robbery. Her suitcase found in an old Greyhound bus station fifty years later unearthed this poem.
Death will come and visit all of us at some point in our lives. He will come and take us from the land of the living … it’s what he does. But don’t fear him, for he comes as a friend and he will take some time getting to know you and making you comfortable before he tucks you in for your eternal sleep.
