We all make bad choices. We all fall short of His glorious standards. There's no escaping our faults and humanity in life. But we can take solace and have peace that even the worst mistakes can be turned into something that God can and will get glorified for!
We've all got weaknesses. You've got yours, I've got mine. Dyslexia is one of mine. A big one. But Moses had a speech impediment of some kind, so I'm in good company. And so are you, because we're all imperfect and we all need God's grace to succeed at what He's called each of us to do in life!
Distraction is one of the biggest enemies we'll ever have to face in our lives, but by the grace of God, we can discipline ourselves to overcome the things that so easily draw us away from God.
"So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always." Philippians 4:13
"But if you remain in Me and My words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! [8] When you produce much fruit, you are My true disciples. This brings great glory to My Father." John 15:7-8
"If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer." Psalm 66:18-19 NLT
The worst thing anyone can do is live a life unfulfilled by the purpose that God placed in them. There is greatness in each of us if we would only place our faith in God and dare to walk it out. "When there is no clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray. But when you follow the revelation of the word, heaven's bliss fills your soul." -Proverbs 29:18 TPT
Each time He said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. [10] That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NLT
"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?" -Romans 2:4
There will be hard times. That's a guarantee. My wife and I were once homeless and living in our van depending on God to sustain us from one day to the next. We had just stepped out in faith to begin our ministry with no money, just our faith. Just a word from the Lord to keep us going. And guess what? When things got especially hard one cold January night and we ran out of food and had no money to buy more, we prayed for God to provide and He sent food right to our van the next morning! "The LORD will not let the godly go hungry..." -Proverbs 10:3
Worrying about things will not bring a single benefit or solution to your life whatsoever. Jesus commands us not to do it. That doesn't mean we won't, because God knows we will, in our fallen nature, worry about really bad circumstances we all will face. But it means we ought not stay in a worrisome and anxious state of mind, but rather we should get rooted in the Word of God and the promises He has for us and trust that He is going to work everything out for our good! "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." -Philippians 4:6
The Word teaches time and again the importance of having good character. We can have all the talent in the world, but if we lack godly character, we'll surely wreck ourselves if we inherit promises before we've learned how to be good stewards of those precious promises. The Lord knows what He's doing. Let Him work! "An inheritance obtained too early in life is not a blessing in the end." -Proverbs 20:21
Many people go to church every Sunday but the way they live their lives proves that their hearts are very far away from the Lord. The Word teaches us that we must prove ourselves to be true followers of Jesus by being repentant and bearing much fruit. "These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me" -Matthew 15:8
Your friends have the ability to either corrupt you or draw you closer to God. Choose very carefully who you permit and allow to influence you in life. "The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray." -Proverbs 12:26
You are fragile. And the bad company of bad friends will certainly do more harm than good both spiritually and emotionally. Choose your friends very carefully. For it's better to walk alone with God than it is to be the companion of fools. "We ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure." -2 Corinthians 4:7
Your legacy, in it's entirety, will not be felt until the day you die. We bring nothing into this world with us on the day we're born, but the day we die is the day our legacy is fully born. Death births legacy. What legacy will you leave when you die? "A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume. And the day you die is better than the day you are born." -Ecclesiastes 7:1
Many times we are left with nothing but our faith, and very few answers. That's the point. God keeps us on a NEED to know basis. And MANY times, all we NEED to know is that He is good and He is working all things together for our good. So just take it one step at a time and trust that even if you know very little, He knows the beginning from the end in your life. He knows what He's doing. "For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know" -1 John 2:27
It's good that you may be going to church. But are you a NEW creature? Is your life post salvation by and large DIFFERENT than your life was before you were saved? Christians must bear fruit. The Bible isn't a book of advice and suggestions. They're commands. Is there TRANSFORMATION? "It doesn't matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation." -Galatians 6:15
We must learn to put on our new nature and arm ours with the same attitude and mindset that Jesus had. We must truly see ourselves as new creatures in Christ everyday! "Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him." -Colossians 3:10
