Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com This is part two of a two-part series about our 2023 Death Valley motorcycle trip. In May of 2023, members of Law Abiding Biker™ Media along with members of the Sworn Few LEMC embarked on a 10-day, 4000-mile, 5-state cross-country motorcycle trip. This trip would take us out of Washington State and into Oregon, California, Arizona, and Nevada. We stayed over in cities such as Redding, California, Furnace Creek, California, Huntington Beach, California,  Las Vegas, Nevada, Reno, Nevada, and Bend, Oregon. You can find the Harley-Davidson Ride Plan HERE.  We took several day trips on our adventure.  You can find the Harley-Davidson Ride Plans for Huntington Beach HERE, for Death Valley HERE, and for Las Vegas HERE.   There will be a motorcycle documentary film released later on this entire trip and experience! SEE ALL LAW ABIDING BIKER MEDIA DOCUMENTARY FILMS HERE! We visited many places and saw a ton of great country on our Death Valley motorcycle trip. We stayed at some good and not-so-good hotels and motels. We ate at some good restaurants and some bad ones. We experienced good and bad weather and a few of the bikes experienced some mechanical problems that had to be fixed. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE We had some very funny times as a group and made memories that will last a lifetime. Everything that happened shaped the trip in some way. Listen in as we tell all the stories of our Midwest motorcycle trip. We also share tips and tricks to assist riders who may be thinking of a long-distance motorcycle road trip. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Our Patron Members support us financially, so we can continue to help as many bikes as we can worldwide. Of course, our Patron Members get benefits and exclusive access such as meetups.  Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I was unable to plan a Patron meetup this year.   There is usually an awesome day ride prepared for the members. We have plenty of time to visit and get to know each other on a more personal level. We normally end the day at a private location where the Patron Members enjoyed a catered dinner by Law Abiding Biker Media!  We look forward to doing a Patron Meetup Ride on our next summer trip.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Install Kuryakyn Tracer LED Lower Fairing Grill Lights on a Harley-Davidson Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! Official Website: www.lawabidingbiker.com I saw that Indian came out with the 2023 Sport Chief and I said to myself, “Hey, Indian made a Harley Low Rider S”.  Well, it’s clearly their answer to compete with Harley in that category of bike anyways.  I had to take a deep look at this bike and break it down for you and give you my thoughts.  How does the Indian Sport Chief match up to the Harley Low Rider S? I really needed to know. I’ve seen some trying to compare the Sport Chief to the Harley Low Rider ST and I wholeheartedly disagree. I test-rode and reviewed the Low Rider ST last year in Santa Barbara, CA and it’s more in the category of sport touring. It has a very large fairing and windshield, an available dash stereo system with speakers, and hard saddlebags. The Sport Chief is more in the category of a sport cruiser with a very small fairing and windshield, no in-dash stereo system or speakers, and no hard saddlebags, just like the Lowrider S. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE This video is not about the old Harley vs. Indian BS conversations. Honestly, those sorts of attitudes just muddy the real conversation and facts.  Understand, that we ride Harleys, Indians, and other metric bikes here on this channel and support all makes and models of motorcycles.  Remember, competition in the motorcycle marketplace is GOOD and benefits all motorcycle enthusiasts. It pushes companies to put out their best products. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! We could really go back and forth on what things the Sport Chief or Low Rider S has that the other doesn’t and price out adding a particular item or feature on. But, at the end of the day, we’ve found that if you make these bikes almost exactly the same with parts and features they are within a couple of hundred dollars of each other. I love my Lowrider S, but I would not think twice about owning the Sport Chief if I had extra money to throw around. I really want to ride this bike and see what it’s all about. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Get Progressive Suspension for your Harley Davidson!  We installed the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit on Lurch's 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special. After riding his Harley with the newly installed Progressive front suspension on a 10-day, 4,000-mile road trip, and on many different road surfaces, he highly recommends this suspension and we decided to carry Progressive Suspension right in the Law Abiding Biker Store.  We also installed the Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks on his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.  He also highly recommends these shocks and we decided to carry them right in the Law Abiding Biker Store.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Lurch was not happy with the overall ride of his 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special, which came with the standard front suspension Harley has used for many years now on its touring models, which has no adjustments. Unfortunately, it is what it is.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the Progressive Suspension Monotube Fork Cartridge Kit has!  He was also not happy with the standard manually adjustable rear shocks that Harley has used for many years now on its touring models.  He wanted a smoother ride, better cornering abilities, and adjustable preload and dampening, all of which the 13" Progressive Suspension 490 Sport Heavy Duty Series Shocks have!  WHY LURCH CHOSE 13" SHOCKS: A Harley Street to Road Glide Special comes stock with 12" shocks and you can certainly maintain the 12" when choosing your Progressive Suspension rear shocks from the Law Abiding Biker Store.  By installing the 13" Progressive Suspension rear shocks, Lurch raised the rear of his Road Glide Special 1" which gives him more of a lean angle. It's definitely noticeable when riding. You really can't visually tell the bike has been raised 1". Note that Harley models like the Ultra Classic come stock with 13" shocks. The special models come with 12" shocks.  CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch was absolutely blown away at how much smother his Harley rode and cornered after installing Progressive Suspension! He did not realize what a difference good shocks would make! Wow, it was more than he ever expected and he highly recommends upgrading your Harley shocks to Progressive Suspension! It even got rid of most of the bagger wobble while cornering at faster speeds.  His Harley just rode like a completely different bike! Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch, and we give you proper motorcycle clutch break-in procedures to ensure a good working and long-lasting clutch.  Most riders buy their new bike and just ride and don't truly break it in.  I recommend breaking your clutch in correctly to widen your clutch friction zone and ensure durability.   For those unfamiliar with the term, the friction zone is the critical area where the clutch plates are neither fully engaged nor disengaged. Some riders might call it “dragging the clutch.” Mastering control within this zone is crucial for maneuvering your motorcycle, particularly at lower speeds. Experienced riders, like police officers, frequently operate within this zone to navigate challenging courses, which directly translates to safer street riding. Check out my motorcycle clutch break-in video HERE. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Given the shift to cable clutches by Harley, we can still optimize the setup. Harley incorporates a plastic adjuster along the cable line, essentially an automatic adjuster. However, this system lacks the flexibility for riders to fine-tune play or engagement preferences. Fortunately, I've discovered a solution in the form of the Fat Baggers EZ Clutch Adjustor Upgrade. This aftermarket product replaces the stock plastic adjuster with a more durable metal counterpart, enabling precise external adjustments for clutch lever positioning. We carry these clutch adjusters right in the Law Abiding Biker Store. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! I outfitted my Harleys, including my Police Electra Glide, with a hydraulic system featuring the esteemed PSR Adjustable Clutch Lever. Complemented by the matching adjustable PSR brake lever, these components empower me to fine-tune my clutch lever, achieving precise engagement exactly where I desire it off the grip. For riders seeking similar control and comfort enhancements, a range of PSR adjustable clutch and brake levers are readily available at the Law Abiding Biker Store. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Recently, I launched an in-depth tutorial video focusing on  the Harley Infotainment Control Unit "IFCU" Digital Dash system. This cutting-edge technology is now a standard feature on select 2024 models and will continue to be integrated into future touring models. Throughout the creation process of this tutorial, I dedicated extensive time both in the workshop and on the road, immersing myself in every aspect of the IFCU. Despite the absence of accompanying instructions or information, I meticulously explored its functionalities, uncovering both its advantages and limitations. For bikers eager to master the IFCU and harness its full potential, I've crafted a comprehensive tutorial video. You can access it conveniently at LawAbidingBiker.com/IFCU or LawAbidingBiker.com/HarleyDigitalDash.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The clarity and size of the screen, coupled with features like the high contrast mode for sunny conditions, further enhance usability. In my opinion, it stands as the most responsive auto manufacturer digital dash system I've encountered thus far, though not without its minor flaws, which I'll address shortly. Before delving into those nuances, it's crucial to note the subscription fee required for embedded navigation: $349 for 3 years, inclusive of live weather, traffic, and map updates. While some may balk at this additional cost, it's essential to contextualize it against the previous Boom Box, where map updates incurred fees ranging from $150 to $200 each time, without the added benefits of live weather and traffic. Whether the subscription model proves more favorable remains a matter for debate. And for those considering whether to opt for embedded navigation, be aware that without it, you'll encounter a QR code prompting you to purchase it each time you access navigation on the IFCU. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! The most pressing question on many minds, one that I'm unable to fully address at this juncture, is how the IFCU will fare in the long run—say, 5 or even 10 years down the road. After all, my previous Harley Street Glide Special served me faithfully for a decade before I upgraded to my 2024 model. Concerns naturally arise regarding the long-term support Harley will provide for the Harley infotainment control unit. Will the system gradually slow down and experience lag over time? And if so, how will such issues be addressed by customer support? Additionally, the longevity of support from the third-party company responsible for developing the Skyline OS operating system is another pertinent consideration. Items mentioned in the podcast: Fat Baggers EZ Clutch Adjuster Kuryakyn Extended Brake Pedal Ultimately, only time will provide the answers we seek. However, as a commitment to all who invest in my Harley IFCU, Ride Planner, or Boom Box tutorial videos, I pledge to keep you updated on any significant changes or developments via new free video releases. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and Patreon member Bob Dawson.  Bob has a 2021 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special.  Unfortunately, Bob's bike experienced oil sumping.  We talk about what Bob experienced as the issue presented itself, what he went through with the diagnosis of the problem, and what steps Harley went through to resolve the issue.  This is an educational but fun episode.  Grab your refreshment of choice and strap in!  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Symptoms: You may get excessive oil blowback from the crank breathers inside your air intake. You may see excessive oil splattered along the right side of your bike while riding hard or long distances. Your air filter may become saturated with engine oil. You may feel your bike has slightly less powerful as it would on a normal hot day. But eventually, the oil in the crankcase builds to the point that the crank is sloshing through the oil as it gets deeper in the crankcase. Eventually, the crankcase fills leaving massive rotational resistance. Efforts to accelerate are met with no response. The engine simply can’t rapidly change rotational speed because of the resistance. Engine failure comes from there being so much oil build up in the crankcase, that the pan is starved leaving no oil to be pumped to the top end. The engine also overheats just from all the resistance of too much oil in the crankcase. The engine begins to overheat and components such as bearings, lifters, and worse, begin to fail. The rider will never see an oil light which is quite disturbing and a significant design flaw. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Consequences: Oil sumping will result in excessive friction and power loss to your Harley M8 engine.  Excess crankcase oil is whipped into a froth of air and oil by the flywheel. This condition is called oil aeration. Aerated oil makes scavenging much more difficult and can hinder the return of oil from the rocker box area. The combination of these conditions often results in oil being forced out the head breathers, air cleaner contamination, oil leaks, loss of oil supply, lifter clatter, premature component wear, and potential engine failure. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com Well, I did it.  After 10 years I finally upgraded from my 2014 Amber Whiskey Street Glide Special to a 2024 Harley Davidson Street Glide in Whiskey Fire with chrome finishes.  I'm starting to think I have a thing for whiskey.  Anyway, we made a business decision to replace my 2014 with a 2024.  There have been enough changes that we can dig into the 2024 and provide you, the audience, with valuable information.  One such piece of info is our brand new tutorial on the Harley-Davidson Skyline Operating System.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE So if you listen to the podcast you heard me say that I would buy a new Street Glide if the 2024 models have come out with Variable Valve Timing (VVT).  What I learned from Harley engineers is that the VVT motor is extremely smooth and designed to tour.  The downside is it gets tricky to install cams and other motor upgrades.  I may never install a cam, but I want the ability to do so if I choose.  The non-VVT motor is a great base for those of us who want to upgrade our motors in our garages.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! It's been a while since I purchased a new bike at a dealership and I learned a few things to share with you.  I was offered something called Theft Protection.  One of the dealerships I was working with automatically added this to my purchase.  It is a clear dab of paint they place on different parts of your bike.  The clear paint contains micro dots with numbers and the paint glows under black light.  As a law enforcement officer (LEO) I can tell you that most LEOs have no idea of this and I can't tell you if this info is in an accessible database.   Sponsor-Ciro 3D CLICK HERE! And yet he’s hungrier than ever after signing a new two-year contract with Harley-Davidson. “Riding for the Harley-Davidson factory team has been a dream, and I'm excited to be given the opportunity to continue for two more seasons,” said Kyle Wyman. “We've had a lot of success in the class, but we have come up short on the championship two years in a row. James Rispoli, riding for Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson, won two races in the 2023 King of the Baggers season, plus he scored five second place finishes and three third place finishes for second overall in the championship. He also won back-to-back AMA Pro Racing Supersport championships in 2011-2012. Rispoli fulfills a lifelong dream by joining the Harley-Davidson® Screamin’ Eagle® factory racing team. “I am stoked to have signed with Harley-Davidson. It has been a dream of mine to be a factory rider ever since I was a little kid,” said James Rispoli. “Taking confidence and consistency paired with the backing of the factory, I know we are going to be a big threat in 2024. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about the recently released 2024 Harley-Davidson Touring Models.  Specifically the 2024 Road Glide, the 2024 Street Glide, and the 2024 CVO Road Glide ST.  I had the opportunity to ride these backs recently in Law Vegas at a Harley-Davidson media event. I learned quite a bit of information to pass along to you, the consumer.  In the episode, I get into motor size.  Variable Valve Timing (VVT) motors versus non-VVT motors, suspension, the new Skyline OS Operating System, performance parts, and more.  Hopefully, the info we provide will help you decide which bike is right for you.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE The 2024 Road Glide and Street Glide only come in one model which we are referring to as the Standard model.  For the last several years you could purchase a standard model and a special model.  The standard model was more affordable but lacked many desirable items.  The special model cost more but had many upgraded items.  Now, the "standard" model comes with everything the special models of the past had.  The starting price point (chrome finishings) comes in at a price in between what the standard and special model cost.  One thing to note is black finishings and certain colors cost more.  The new "standard" model is a good starting platform to build from.  You can go the performance bagger or the long haul touring route with them.   The 2024 CVO Road Glide ST is an all-new model.  It is inspired by the King of the Baggers race series.  I've been predicting a bike like this for some time.  My prediction was wilder including mid controls for more lean angle allowing an amature racer to take it out on the track out of the box.  The CVO Road Glide ST has many race-inspired upgrades including carbon fiber parts, an M8 121 motor with upgrades, performance SHOWA suspension, radial Brembo brakes, special track modes, and more.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! So, you may want to know if you should buy a standard Road or Street Glide, or should you buy a CVO Road Glide ST?  Here is what I will say; look back on your last two years of riding and evaluate the type of riding you do.  The CVO ST may be the bike for you if want to haul ass and carve up the canyons.  Alternatively, the "standard" models may be best if you want to tour.  Ultimately you'll be happy if you purchase either.  Now, get out there and ride already!  New Free Video Mentioned:  Finding That Elusive Place We Seek! Both models feature an evolved fairing profile that appears refreshingly modern yet retains Harley-Davidson design DNA that makes them instantly familiar. Additional key features include: An updated Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine features a new cooling system that further optimizes thermal comfort for the rider and enhanced intake and exhaust flow to boost performance. Selectable Ride Modes – Road, Sport, Rain, and Custom – electronically control the performance characteristics of the motorcycle. Infotainment technology is powered by Skyline™ OS and presented on a 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen that replaces all analog instrumentation and most switches. A new 200-watt audio amplifier powers a pair of fairing-mounted speakers. Improved aerodynamics enhance rider comfort and reduce subjective helmet buffeting at highway speed by an average of 60 percent. Rear suspension travel is increased to 3-inches. A redesigned one-piece seat shape and padding materials offer a significant improvement in long-range comfort for most riders. A deep solo seat and six-inch riser paired with a moto handlebar put the rider in an aggressive, upright position with West Coast custom style. Key features include: Two premium paint choices: Golden White Pearl or Raven Metallic. A Screamin’ Eagle graphic on the fairing sides and fuel tank is inspired by the Screamin’ Eagle® Harley-Davidson® Factory motorcycles raced in the MotoAmerica® Mission King of the Baggers series. CVO™ 25th Anniversary graphics celebrate a milestone in factory customization. The Milwaukee-Eight® 121 High Output V-Twin engine is exclusive to the CVO Road Glide ST model, tuned to produce 127 horsepower (94kW) and 145 lb. ft. (193 Nm) of torque – the most horsepower and torque ever from a factory-installed engine in a production Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. A lower final drive ratio is selected to enhance acceleration performance in every gear. The use of alternate materials helps reduce dry weight to 800 pounds (363 kg). Mufflers have lightweight titanium shells and forged carbon fiber end caps; forged carbon fiber composite is used to form the front fender, seat cowl and tank console; the oil pan is formed of lightweight composite; and wheel design and wave-style front brake rotors are optimized to minimize unsprung weight. Fully adjustable front and rear suspension include SHOWA® rear shock absorbers with remote reservoirs and inverted 47mm SHOWA® 1x1 forks. Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch, and we review the released 2024 Harley-Davidson Models.  We also give our predictions about what may or may not be released on January 24, 2024.  Harley is doing a virtual launch event on the 24th at 10 AM CST.  You can sign up for the event HERE.  We will put out a video and podcast following the virtual launch on the 24th.   Harley released some of the 2024 models via the website recently.  These are the bikes that are carryovers from 2023.  Our belief is they did this to keep dealers stocked with new bikes.  You see, in 2023 there were a couple of production shutdowns.  One was related to a defective brake line from a third-party provider and the other was due to a parts shortage.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Missing models (as of the date of this recording) from the 2024 lineup are the Fat Bob 114, all CVO models, all Street Glide models, all Road Glide models except the Limited, and the Pan America standard model.  So, one can infer there is going to be something new with the touring models and perhaps the Fat Bob 114. Ryan predicts the 107 Milwaukee 8 motor will be no more after this year.  He believes the 114" VVT motor will be in the special models along with the new dash and fairings.  He believes the standards will have the older Boom Box GTS unit and a smaller motor.  Ryan also believes that Harley will come out with a King of the Bagger model that is more track-ready than the ST models.  Lurch and Ryan predict that there will be a mid-sized Pan America.  Lastly, Ryan predicts that the long-awaited Bronx Street Fighter will come out sometime in 2024. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lurch predicts the standard models of the Street Glide and Road Glide may be cut.  Last year there were many models of the Glides including the standard, specials, limited, STs, and CVOs.  That is a lot of models and in his opinion, the higher-level models are more coveted.  The standard glides not being a part of the pre-launch spurred Lurch's prediction.   Harley removed the surcharge imposed on new motorcycle sales.  The surcharge was instituted in July 2021 to combat production and shipping costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In addition to the surcharge cancellation, a couple of models were slightly reduced in price; those being the Nightster and the Nightster Special.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Get In The Know Before Harley Releases 2024 Models! Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about the 2024 Indian Motorcycles lineup.  The Indian Motorcycle company hosted a media event in Southern California a couple of months ago.  Unfortunately, we didn't get an invite but we have learned a few things since then.  For the FTR, Scout, Springfield, and Chief the updates pretty much only consist of color and graphics.  With that said, India released two new colors; Sunset Red Metallic and Sunset Red Smoke.  A new model for 2024 is the FTR X 100% R CARBON.  This was a collaboration with 100%, known mostly for riding goggles.  This is a limited edition creation with only 400 units released worldwide.  This new FTR sports Ohlins suspension, blue carbon fiber body parts, and Akrapovic exhaust. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE An Indian Motorcycle representative had this to say about the Scout lineup at the media event: "It's [2023] been an interesting year.  It's a turbulent industry right now.  You've probably seen earning reports from our brand and some of the other competitors in the space.  We're navigating that really well. What's been cool to see for Indian specifically is our market share performance.  A couple of weeks ago we had market share leadership in the mid-size category.  That is our Scout lineup, for the first time and that is really cool to see.  Leading with the Scout lineup, but we're going to focus on other lineups here today, but that continues to be a great performer for our brand.  And that's bringing people into the Indian Motorcycle family and over time they're graduating into our other vehicles.  So playing the long game there is working out nicely for us and it's good to see the response." Indian Motorcycles released a new audio upgrade they call Powerband.  It is coming on the Elite models with what they call the bass boost tune.  It has a 9-band equalizer, pre-tuned settings, ride command integration, and underglow speaker lighting.  The speakers are rated at 100 watts as compared to the normal 50-watt speakers.  Indian claims there is 50% more bass with this new system.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: This Went Down At Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson Dealership! 2023 Indian Pursuit Review Video Mentioned: 2023 Indian Pursuit Long-Term Test Ride & Review; Is This The Perfect Touring Motorcycle? Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, I'm joined by Lurch and we talk about being impartial when reviewing motorcycles; in particular Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  This topic was spurred by a voicemail message left by long-time listener Steve Kastell.  Steve expressed concern about the impartiality of my Harley-Davidson motorcycle reviews.  His concern stemmed from the fact that the majority of the motorcycle ride and review events I attend are hosted by Harley-Davidson.  The topic then flows into the announcement that our YouTube Channel just went past 200,000 subscribers.  I talk about the journey to get to 200k subscribers; the good and the bad.  You can leave us a voicemail HERE if you have comments or questions that might turn into a show topic.  SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE We've been at the YouTube Channel and Podcast game for over 11 years now.  For the first eight of those years, we reviewed bikes that we could get our hands on.  Many of those bikes belonged to friends and family.  We were able to occasionally wrangle on out of our local Harley-Davidson dealer.  Unfortunately, we generally only got to take those bikes out for a few hours.   Here at Law Abiding Biker, we worked hard to get the attention of Harley and most recently Indian Motorcycles.  Hopefully, as we continue to grow our reach we'll get access to new brands.  We do our best to be honest and impartial when reviewing bikes.  I don't just gush over the new bike like some other YouTube Channels.  We will pick out things that can be improved on even if they are "knit-picky".  The truth is, I've been hard on Harley in the past and still point out when they can do better.  We appreciate Steve leaving the voicemail and expressing his concern.  Heck, it provided good content for the podcast.   CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Our YouTube Channel has surpassed 200,000 subscribers!  It started as a passion project to create a platform that, educated, inspired, and entertained bikers.  I provide my insight if you're interested in starting a channel.  Start with something you have an interest in, something that you truly enjoy.  Obviously, for me, my passion was motorcycles.  I've been referred to as an OG in the YouTube space.  I've dealt with burnout and exhaustion.  You just have to keep on grinding if you want to make it on YouTube.   Ultimately, we've had a lot of fun creating content for our channel.  I wouldn't change it for the world.  My reward has been connecting with bikers worldwide and creating a platform for them to connect.  The positive feedback from our videos keeps me motivated.  Thank you to all who subscribe to our channel, watch our videos, and take time to leave comments.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: My Advice After Being On YouTube For 11 Years! Official Website: https://www.lawabidingbiker.com In this episode, we talk about motorcycle safety, more specifically being seen.  A common complaint of street riders is that other motorists fail to observe them. Motorists who violate motorcyclists’ right-of-way frequently state, “I didn’t see him,” or “He came out of nowhere”.  We talk about rider clothing, equipment, lighting, paint, and more.   Apparel A bright-colored helmet will catch the motorist's attention and enhance motorcycle safety.  Over 70 percent of helmets sold are black.  Most collisions occur in broad daylight. Wear brightly-colored or reflective clothing to increase your chances of being seen.  Bright orange, red, yellow, or green jackets or vests are the best for being seen. Brightly colored helmets can also help others see you.  Reflective material on a vest and the sides of the helmet will help drivers see you from the side. Reflective material can also be a big help for drivers coming toward you or from behind. Remember, your body is half of the visible surface area of the rider/motorcycle unit. Motorcycle Color Your best bet might be to go with a white motorcycle, which is bright, reflects light, and stands out from other colors. While white might not be the first choice for riders, it can appear as a classy option. For instance, a white Harley-Davidson shows off your power and style when you’re cruising around town. During the hot summer months, it will reflect light and absorb less heat than a darker motorcycle. However, you’ll have to be careful if you’re riding a bright white bike against snow. If you’re going to be frequently riding in this type of weather condition, ride a bike with a contrasting color.   SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Other colors to consider are orange and yellow, which can draw more attention to your bike.  In daylight, green is the most visible color from a distance for human eyes. In the darkness, however, yellow is the easiest color to recognize. The rods (small structures in the eye) are responsible for sight in low-light situations. And the cones are responsible for high-light conditions. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! Lighting The best way to help others see your motorcycle is to always keep the headlight and, if equipped, running lights on. A motorcycle with its light on is twice as likely to be noticed. Using your high beam during the day and at night increases the chances that oncoming drivers will see you. Use your high beam when it is legal and safe to do so. When it is foggy, use the low beam.  Headlight and brake light modulators create a unique light pattern that grabs attention.  Additional lighting that shows the dimensions of your motorcycle can help you be seen.   NEW FREE VIDEO RELEASED: Biker Review of the Icon Patrol 3 Boots-Progressive Motorcycle Riding Shoes And remember Loud Pipes Save Lives!  Ride Safe & Ride Often!
