It was 47 years ago today that embattled Richard Nixon resigned the presidency due to the scandals collectively known as Watergate. In Michael Dobbs’ brilliant new book, “King Richard: Nixon and Watergate: An American Tragedy”, one of our best historians dissects the six months after Nixon’s re-election and details how a man who won 49 states in 1972 resigned less than two years later. Michael comes on the “Leaders and Legends” podcast to discuss one of our country’s most bizarre and enduring episodes.Sponsors •      Veteran Strategies•      Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•      MacAllister Machinery•      Garmong Construction•      Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union Station About Veeran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography. Abraham Lincoln gets most of the attention given for political and governmental leadership during the American Civil War and deservedly so. The role of Congress during the war, however, is a compelling story in its own right. Historian Fergus Bordewich has written a book, “Congress At War”, that details the efforts of the House and Senate that worked both in concert and at odds with President Lincoln.  He discusses this terrific literary effort on this week's “Leaders and Legends” podcast. Sponsors•      Veteran Strategies•      Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•      MacAllister Machinery•      Garmong Construction•      Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union StationAbout Veteran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography. Abraham Lincoln’s journey to Washington, D.C. to take the oath of office was the most dangerous in history. In his book “Lincoln on the Verge”, Professor Ted Widmer details Lincoln’s perils and progress (which includes a stop in Indianapolis where he almost lost the text to his first inaugural address). The “Leaders and Legends” podcast is honored to have one of country’s leading historians on to discuss one of the most brilliant and fascinating books I’ve ever read. Sponsors•      Veteran Strategies•      Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•      MacAllister Machinery•      Garmong Construction•      Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union StationAbout Veteran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography. Sheriff Anderson was there. We are joined by Scecina graduate and unofficial McGinley’s Golden Ace general counsel Kevin Murray for the discussion. Sponsors•       Veteran Strategies•       Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•       MacAllister Machinery•       Garmong Construction•       Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union StationAbout Veteran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography. Andrew joins us on the “Leaders and Legends” podcast to discuss his superb book “1941: The Year Germany Lost the War.” If you are a student of history’s most seminal and brutal conflict, you will enjoy hearing Andrew discuss his writings and research.Sponsors•       Veteran Strategies•       Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•       MacAllister Machinery•       Garmong Construction•       Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union StationAbout Veteran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography. On Memorial Day weekend, the “Leaders and Legends” podcast features a conversation with Brigadier General Stewart Goodwin. The general spent 37 years in the military, but is probably best known as the smiling face that gives impromptu tours at the Indiana War Memorial. The general discusses his career, the meaning of service, and how no city or state does a better job honoring their veterans. Danielle Shockey, CEO of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, joins us as co-host for the podcast. Sponsors•      Veteran Strategies•      Girl Scouts of Central Indiana•      MacAllister Machinery•      Garmong Construction•      Crowne Plaza Downtown Indianapolis Historic Union StationAbout Veteran Strategies‘Leaders and Legends’ is brought to you by Veteran Strategies—your local veteran business enterprise specializing in media relations, crisis communications, public outreach, and digital photography.
