What happens when you finally find the right person, but somewhere along the way, things start to drift? Culture changes. Chemistry isn’t what it used to be. You start wondering, “Is this something we need to coach through, or is it time to move on?” Hiring well is only half of the battle. Developing and retaining great church staff means knowing how to protect culture, address problems early, and making the hard calls when necessary. So today, we’re tackling two of the biggest challenges when it comes to staff: cultural drift; and knowing when to keep working with a staff member or when it’s time to cut bait.
Finding the right person isn’t just about filling a ministry role, it’s about finding the right fit. In this episode, we explore how to build stronger teams through chemistry, character, EQ, and clear vision. Because when your team knows where you’re going and how they can help get there, you’re building more than a staff . . . you’re moving the mission/vision forward.
Leaders rarely set out to become exhausted, anxious, discouraged, or ready to walk away, but many eventually find themselves there. In this episode, we explore how a five-step alignment journey—Spirit, Body, Thought Patterns & Emotions, Relationships, and Rhythms—can lead to powerful breakthroughs in leadership and life. Along the way, we share three leadership wishes for our listening and watching friends, along with unsolicited stories from clients who have experienced the difference firsthand.
Have you ever wondered why giving can be so difficult, even when you believe God is faithful? For many, the issue isn’t really money. It’s trust. This deep down, sneaky suspicion that while we believe God will provide, we still feel we have to create our own security.
In today’s podcast conversation, we explore what can hold us back from generosity, along with three tensions we all face: needs vs. wants, doubt vs. faith, and remembering vs. forgetting.
Because the goal isn’t simply to give more. The goal is to trust more—and experience the freedom, joy, and peace that come when we put God first with our finances.
Every pastor and leader carries scars. Some are meant to be shared because God can use them to bring healing, hope, and freedom to others. Others are meant to remain private. Not because they don’t matter, but because they don’t need an audience.
In today’s episode, John shares a deeply personal moment of looking at his surgical scars and sensing the Lord say, “Not all scars need to be memorialized.” That simple statement leads to a larger conversation about vulnerability, validation, emotional health, and learning to discern which scars should become part of our story—and which ones should simply be filed away.
