Nim's strange life has been turned into a documentary by Man on Wire director James Marsh.  Following His extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human Bob Ingersoll met Nim when he was a student at the University of Oklahoma.Nim was Bob's friend. Nim was returned to the IPS facility by Herb Terrace from Columbia University in NYC where he was taken at birth to participate in a Language Study designed to replicate the work of the Gardners at Reno Nevada that was the first attempt to teach ASL to Chimpanzee's. Nim came with Herb and Joyce Butler and Bill Tynan on his return trip. Dr. Gordon Edwards and Natalie-Marie Hart discuss Hiroshima marked the 69th anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing on Wednesday August 6, 1945 and we also talk about how Nuclear power technology produces materials that are active in producing radiation and are therefore called "radioactive". These materials can come into contact with people through small releases during routine plant operation, accidents in nuclear power plants, accidents in transporting radioactive materials, and escape of radioactive wastes from confinement systems. Gordon Edwards was born in Canada in 1940, and graduated from the University of Toronto in 1961 with a gold medal in Mathematics and Physics and a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. In 1972, he obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Queen’s University. From 1970 to 1974, he was the editor of Survival magazine and in 1975 he co-founded the Canadian Coalition for Nuclear Responsibility, and has been its president since 1978. Edwards has worked widely as a consultant on nuclear issues and has been qualified as a nuclear expert by courts in Canada and elsewhere. Dr. Edwards has written articles and reports on radiation standards, radioactive wastes, uranium mining, nuclear proliferation, the economics of nuclear power, non-nuclear energy strategies. He has worked as consultant for governmental bodies such as the Auditor General of Canada, the Select Committee on Ontario Hydro Affairs, and the Ontario Royal Commission on Electric Power Planning. Chris and Christa started writing music together in 2006 after a serendipitous introduction by a mutual friend. Their first song was written in half an hour on the night of their meeting illuminating the fact that they were indeed each other's muse. In 2010, Chris and Christa married but were forced to spend the next year apart when Chris was arrested, detained and deported back to his home country of Australia after spending several years in Canada illegally.
