People have been arrested and spent time in prison for making jokes online. This was actual threats! It doesn't make any sense.

Actually, the government is constitutionally required only to disclose exculpatory evidence. Some states, however, go beyond the constitution. It is just as important for the prosecution to disclose inculpatory evidence. I conducted a jury trial that I won pro se with a "not guilty verdict," partly because I had access to inculpatory evidence, that I wouldn't have been able to refute without access to it. I won partly too because the police hid exculpatory evidence by hiding a favorable police witness, and I caught them.

Plants of drugs or other contrabant is easy peasy, and almost impossible to prove the drugs are planted. One way cops can get drugs is confiscate them in exchange of not pressing charges. Most cops don't plant drugs. The ones who do, however, do it for a personal vendetta, not necessarily to pad arrest statistics.

I hate attorneys who wrongly think the defendant is lying. They will then do things that indicate to the judge that the defendant is lying, such as the method of questioning.
