THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 11, Chapter 3 Continued 2 The last time we met, we finished up the 4th burden (or oracle) that we find in Malachai. It called to mind a principle that is so obscured in modern Christendom, that even when I speak it, I’m not quite sure that it makes the […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 10, Chapter 3 Continued We began Malachai chapter 3 last time, and it has proved necessary to unpack this nearly word for word, referring to the Hebrew texts, because the tendency of English Bible versions is not to translate, but more to interpret. That is, to translate means to convert […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 9, Chapter 3 We concluded our study of Malachai’s 3rd oracle of burden at chapter 2 verse 16. For reasons I can’t fathom, our modern Bibles tend to then add a 17th verse before turning to chapter 3, yet that 17th verse starts a new subject: the 4th oracle. The […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 8, Chapter 2 Continued 2 We ended our previous lesson at Malachai chapter 2 verse 11, when we were dealing with the issue of forbidden intermarriage between the Jews and gentile foreigners. While this was directed mostly towards the Levite Priests, it included the common Jewish population who did the […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 7, Chapter 2 Continued The final chapter of the Book of Daniel begins with these awesome and terror-filled words, for those who will hear and heed them. CJB Daniel 12:1–3 "When that time comes, Mikha'el, the great prince who champions your people, will stand up; and there will be a […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 6, Chapter 2 Chapter 2 of Malachai gets even more focused, and the accusations against the Levite Priesthood more sharply severe, than in chapter 1. There is a fine line between teaching and preaching; and I suspect that due to the nature of the material in Malachai, we’ll wind up […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 5, Chapter 1 Continued 3 I have spoken on numerous occasions that the Bible books of Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachai form a kind of somewhat overlapping trilogy, and probably Haggai collaborated with Zechariah, and Zechariah with Malachai to some limited level. So, as we continue in Malachai, I want to […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 4, Chapter 1 Continued 2 We will continue our journey through Malachai in our steady and deliberate fashion because the inspired work and what it presents to us demands it. I’ll remind you that because of the way Malachai is constructed there is something important to talk about at every […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 3, Chapter 1 Continued As Malachai represents the last of the Old Testament Prophets and the Old Testament Prophet system and era, it probably isn’t surprising that we find ourselves staring at monumental and complex God-principles that appear, but which come with no explanation. This is partly because all the […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 2, Chapter 1 The opening words of the first chapter of Malachai…which we shall shortly read in full… begins with what is called a superscription. A superscription gives us a top-level view of the context for what follows it (in this case, the writings and message of the Prophet Malachai). […]

THE BOOK OF MALACHI Lesson 1, Introduction As with all the other Hebrew Bible prophets (that is, the so-called Old Testament prophets), Malachai speaks not only to the wayward Hebrews of his era, but rather to all people of all eras. I think, as I look around at the place and trajectory of world events […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 33, Chapter 14 Conclusion Just as the viewpoint of the biblical Creation Story is earth-centric as though someone was standing on earth to record God’s process of Creation, so as Zechariah winds down the viewpoint reduces further to Jerusalem-centric. Earth, so far as we know, is the cosmic center of […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 32, Chapter 14 Continued We’ve worked our way to this final chapter of Zechariah, and last week paused at verse 8. Starting at verse 6 we read about changes in nature, or better a change in the very nature of nature, that has (since Creation) regulated the Universe and especially […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 31, Chapter 14 Christians have traditionally looked primarily to the Book of Revelation for their guide on End Times matters and information about the return of Messiah. In addition, we find other New Testament books like Matthew, Luke, John, and Thessalonians, which seem to provide additional, but sparse, reference to […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 30, Chapters 13 and 14 Whenever we get deep into studying a Bible book… especially so as concerns an Old Testament book… it is important that we occasionally back away from it, float up to the 30,000-foot altitude in our hot air balloon, and take a panoramic view so as […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 29, Chapter 13 Since we barely got started last time in Zechariah chapter 13, let’s re-read the entire chapter. Open your Bibles to Zechariah 13. READ ZECHAHARIAH CHAPTER 13 all Zechariah has to be one of the most impactful prophecies that affects us personally and in our age, if only […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 28, Chapters 12 and 13 We paused in Zechariah 12:10 last time. As a mini-refresher, this entire chapter is about an attack on Jerusalem by the nations. The way the Bible uses the term “the nations” always means gentile nations. And, that always means every nation on earth except for […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 27, Chapter 12 Continued Before we re-open the amazing, mysterious, informative, complex Zechariah, I want to spend some time with a subject that is greatly entangled within its pages, which is also in some ways the elephant-in-the-room for Bible students, and for those that haven’t notice it yet, it ought […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 26, Chapter 12 Just as Bible scholars tend to divide the Book of Zechariah into two books… First Zechariah that is chapters 1 – 8, and Second Zechariah that is chapters 9 – 14… so, they further divide Second Zechariah into two sections, chapters 9 -11, and 12 – 14. […]

THE BOOK OF ZECHARIAH Lesson 25, Chapter 11 Conclusion As we progress through Zechariah chapter 11, we paused last week as we were looking at verse 12. Much symbolic action has been taking place… spiced up with a number of metaphors, and not an insignificant amount of irony has also been involved in the telling. […]

Love Torah class!
For when you realize you need a solid understanding of the Old Testament and Hebrew culture to understand the New Testament. Or when you you start seeing that the typical Christian dogma isn't what the scriptures actually say.
it is entirely disingenuous to call this a Torah class. It is a Christian leaning interpretation of the first part of the old testament. In attempting to massage and tie the books of the Torah into the coming story and testament of Jesus you manipulate and distort the word of the Torah as the Jews interpret and understand the text. Shame on Tom Bradford for this manipulative move. that being said he is very informed and the work done here is impressive though dishonest in its outset and representation.
when can we have a letter by letter class on Revelations? Shalom
somewhere on my bucket list is a check mark unchecked that says I want to meet Tom Bradford and shake his hand.
