This week’s episode is with Online Content Creator and Social Media Producer, Sanne Vliegenthart. Sanne runs a very successful YouTube channel called Books and Quills which at the time of recording has amassed an audience of 170k subscribers. Before Sanne made the jump to work as a freelance content creator she worked at Penguin Random House. In this conversation we discussed how she makes money from YouTube, negotiating rates, financial differences in the UK versus the Netherlands and that most dreaded freelancer task - chasing payments. Stick around to the end for my More Money section - where this week I’ll be giving you some suggestions of tools you can use to help chase payments and I’m giving away a tenner so you’ll want to keep listening to find out how to pocket that! This week’s episode is with Tracey Duodu. Tracey has three streams of income but the one we spoke most about was her property development business. We talk about how the opportunity to invest presented itself in the most unlikely way. The responsibility of doing this on behalf of not just herself but her mother’s financial future, the ethics of serviced accommodation and setting financial goals. his week’s episode is a conversation with Daisy Buchanan. Daisy is a journalist, broadcaster and author of the hilariously warm and useful book ‘How To Be A Grown Up’. The book is part memoir and part self-help, it’s packed full of loads of brilliant tips and advice on everything from sex to money. She’s a TED speaker, often spotted on telly debater and host of the chart topping literary podcast You’re Booked. We discussed setting rates as a freelancer, her fear of cash machines, that Grazia article and investing in her mental health.
This week’s episode is a conversation with Tobi Asare. Tobi works in private equity research - an area I’ll be honest is not really my forte! She explained what this role actually entails and the type of salary and bonus people in this industry can expect to take home. She is also a parental leave expert and has recently launched My Bump Pay - an incredible financial resource for any would be parents detailing numerous companies parental leave policies. I picked her brain on all things maternity pay, why it’s important for businesses, whether or not it’s negotiable and the pension gap and what women can do to try and bridge it. Stick around until the end for my More Money section where I share something from the personal finance world which I’ve found helpful and I think you might too. Also stay tuned for a sneak preview from next week’s guest - someone I’m really excited about.
