Let's Make a Show Show

The Let’s Make A Show Show is a casual podcast that dissects the creative process of artists, musicians, theatremakers and content creators. By opening the door into artistic practices, this podcast will help inspire listeners to become creators themselves. The podcast is hosted by Billy Taylor, an Interdisciplinary Movement Practitioner, Executive Director of Now & Then Theatre and Co-creator of Yos Theatre.

Ep. 4 - Abigail Hammond - Costume is Dance, Peri-menopause and Playing with Material.

In this episode with Abigail Hammond, we discuss her roots and how she uses costume in her dance, the importance of conversation and at the end we dig into a few materials that you can begin playing with on your body.  Abigail has a background in dance at Dartington College and went on to become a contributing voice in exploring dance-costume relationships within the UK. She has further explored the use of material, particularly in relation to her own body and her own story - the peri-menopause. Below are linked some of her amazing projects, M is for Menopause and the up-and-coming Sheroes Revoluciones.     (For all those wondering about the Lea Anderson reference, it was Flesh and Blood!)   Enjoy our show and remember, keep creating.  LINKS: F*ck The Menopause Music - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QHEbn8vmNI M is for Menopause - https://misformenopause.cargo.site Sheroes - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sheroes-revoluciones-20-opening-tickets-142663872483?utm_campaign=post_publish&utm_medium=email&utm_source=eventbrite&u Website - http://abigailhammond.co.uk/         instagram.com/dombutchermusic instagram.com/billytaysay

Ep. 3 - My Youth as a Rugby-Dancer [Billybytes]

Within this 25 minute mini-episode, I try a new format, in which I sit down and discuss three things: a thought, opportunity and exercise. I hope that these will provoke some thoughts in regards to creativity as well as give you a simple action to take right now for your artistic journey.    I am Billy Maxwell Taylor, an interdisciplinary movement practitioner who facilitates creativity through curiosity, playfulness and athleticism. I also run this podcast! I have worked with companies such as Frantic Assembly, Divadlo Continuo, Now & Then Theatre and I am co-founder of Yos Theatre. I look forward to sharing this episode with you!

Ep. 2 - Dom Butcher - Conscious of Self Consciousness, The Power of Music and Not Comparing Yourself.

In this episode with Dom Butcher, one of my closest teenhood friends, we discuss how living with others affects performing artists in lockdown, the power of music to tell a story and why we should try to avoid being better than our idols. Live our own lives!  Dom’s a third year student, reading Theology and Music at London School of Theology. He’s known me since the magical days of secondary school, working with him as an actor and musician on many projects, and since collaborated as a musician and performer for a multitude of projects linking arts, creativity and faith, and played at festivals and conferences such as Spring Harvest, Soul Survivor and Naturally Supernatural. He’s currently right on the cusp of releasing his debut EP, Blessed.    Enjoy our show and remember, keep creating.  LINKS: instagram.com/dombutchermusic instagram.com/billytaysay

Ep. 1 - Sean Hollands - Using Gaming in Theatre, Asking "What-Ifs" and a Show on the Edge.

In this DEBUT episode (party poppers), I sit down over Zoom with Sean Hollands and we discuss how you can use gaming as a stimulus, the benefit of a disciplined and playful space and how we can work around the parameters of Covid-19. We also brainstorm an idea for a show. For this section (around 20 minutes onwards) there is a TRIGGER WARNING as we discuss suicide, domestic abuse and violence (all in relation to comic books).  Sean Hollands (amongst other things) directs movement, facilitates workshops and LOVES gaming. He works with companies such as Frantic Assembly and The National Youth Theatre and you can find his own various ventures linked below (Fable Workshop, Think Tank and Children's Theatre Digital).  Enjoy our show and remember, keep creating.    SHOW LINKS: Sean's Website - https://www.seanhollands.com/ Fable Workshop - https://www.fableworkshop.co.uk/ Children's Theatre Digital - https://childrenstheatredigital.com/ Upstart Theatre (Sean's show is Think Tank) - http://www.upstart-theatre.co.uk/   Make sure to leave a review.
