Hello and a very happy Halloween week to all our listeners out there. We wanted to end this month of harvest horror on a high note doing a film set at Halloween. That's right we watched Dark Harvest. This week, we wander into the haunted cornfields of the American South — and straight into the eerie world of early ’80s made-for-TV horror — with Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981). To our knowledge, it’s one of the very first films to make a scarecrow the central monster of a horror story. Did we love it? Did Josh grow up watching it? And did it scare Cyndi half to death? Harvest Horror Month continues as we make our this week to the corn fields of Nebraska with Children of the Corn. That's right the Stephen King short story turned 80's pre-Terminator Linda Hamilton vehicle is our film this week. It's not often that we cover a movie the same year it gets released. However, today we bring you 2025's Clown in a Cornfield a movie about clowns, corn, friends, and most of all Friendo. Welcome to week three of our month of serial killer films based on true events. This week we watched the 1976 quasi factual The Town that Dreaded Sundown from the filmmakers behind The Legend of Boggy Creek. Come for the story of a masked man terrorizing Texarkana Arkansas and stay for wonderful performances from Ben Johnson, Andrew Prine, and a surprising turn from Dawn Wells aka Mary Anne from Gilligan's Island. This week, we dive into Cruising (1980), William Friedkin’s controversial thriller about an undercover cop hunting a serial killer in New York City's vibrant late-'70s LGBTQ nightclub scene. Inspired by the chilling Bag Murders—where dismembered bodies were discovered in garbage bags floating in the Hudson River—this film is as unsettling as it is unforgettable. Well you can't do a month of movies about serial killers made by actors or directors at the height of their power without talking about this film. That's right we watched Dirty Harry a thinly disguised zodiac killer movie made during the height of the zodiac killings in the bay area. Did we love it? Was Cyndi surprised at how good Andrew Robinson's Scorpio Killer was? Did it scare her to death? Join us this week to find out and make our day. 

Join us for a beautifully shot film about an American sociopath social climber on extended vacation in 1950's postwar Italy. Come for the murders and stay for the surprisingly beautiful film. Join us to see if we loved Matt Damon thriller and if it somehow, someway scared Cyndi to death.

As we dive deeper into supernatural serial killer month we arrive here at Wes Craven's Shocker. A movie about a serial killer who develops electricity powers that let him jump from body to body to escape his son who has dream foresight powers and was raised in foster care by the cop who is out to stop him. You know that old chestnut but did we like it? Were we perplexed by some of the plot holes? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out. 

We end our tour of folk horror from around the world in with this South African film set in neighboring Namibia on the eve of it's independence. This movie has it all a supernatural serial killer, magic, beautiful shots of the lonely desert, violent crime scenes, a wonderful score, and great performances. However, did we like it? Did Josh compare this movie to the works of David Lynch? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us this week as we venture out into the open desert to do battle with the Dust Devil. 

Our fifth week of our folk horror from around the world takes us to India with the 2018 film Tumbbad. A surprising film currently streaming on Amazon Prime. Did we like it? Were we amazed at the beautiful locations? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out. 

Well it took some digging but we found a folk horror movie from South America where a child doesn't die violently. So today's movie is Nazareno Cruz and the Wolf a folk horror, werewolf movie from Argentina. Did we love it? Were we overwhelmed at the lack of flat spaces in every shot? Were we surprised at how bloody this film was while still being a dark fairy tale? Most importantly did it kill Cyndi? Join us to find out. 

Join us as we venture down under to Australia and mourn the passing of Richard Chamberlain with this 1977 Peter Weir film about aboriginal people, corporate tax attorneys, tribal magic, and the end of the world. Did we love it? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out. 

This week we dive into folk horror from around the globe as we watch the criminally underseen Clearcut starring Graham Greene.
