Purity Ball Dad: ‘You are Married to the Lord and Your Father is Your Boyfriend’ http://aattp.org/ten-photos-that-prove-christian-purity-balls-are-the-creepiest-thing-ever-images/ I have to admit, I'd never heard of purity balls and once they were brought to my attention, I was outraged. Weird doesn't even begin to describe how I felt when I first started researching these events. The images were startling...shocking! Mary Crawford joins me tonight as we have a very frank discussion about fathers being presented as "boyfriends" to their young daughters. Dads are the keepers of virtue and Jesus is the main man in the daughters' lives. I encourage you to watch the view the pictures in the articles and watch the videos prior to show time so you can weigh in also.  http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/purity-balls-lifting-veil-special-ceremony-23061335 http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2014/03/daughters-pledge-to-preserve-their-virginity-at-purity-balls/ http://aattp.org/purity-ball-dad-you-are-married-to-the-lord-and-your-father-is-your-boyfriend-video/

I remember growing up watching episodes of I Love Lucy, Green Acres, The Dick van Dyke Show and The Brady Bunch. Back then, couples weren't even allowed to be shown in the same bed! Married people slept in twin beds, separated by a nightstand!  Then of course there was the ridiculousness of Elvis Presley not being shown from the waist down because of his gyrating pelvis. HA! But now...TODAY...in 2015, it's no holds barred on the levels sexual content can sink too. Most recently Hollywood seems to have a fascination with incestual sex. Two movies (that I personally know of) have focused on father/daughter sex - of course they didn't know it at the time - a subject that rocks me to my core and one that I don't consider entertainment. Amazon.com has a complete collection of Beastie Erotica which includes sex (rape is more like it) with Dinasours, BigFoot, Yeti and more. But even more disturbing is the latest onslaught of fiction focusin on "step" sibling sexual relationships. From simulated sex and soft on soap operas and 50 Shades of Gray to movies that are really crossing the line on taboo subjects that should not be memorialized on film, sexual images have no boundaries of late. What is all this information doing to our psyche? How is it affecting our relationships? Lette's Chat about it....
Activist Steve Grumbine revisits Lette's Chat as we launch our THIRD anniversary. We'll be talking about Eric Garner, Michael Brown and Freddie Gray. Police, around the country, are out of control. The fires of racism are fueled daily on the news and social media.  Steve and I will weigh in and discuss the media's bias and the wars that are waging on social media platforms.

Tony Perkins, a Washington D.C. local hero and community icon is the co-anchor of FOX 5 News at 5pm & 10pm. From 1999 to 2005, Tony was the weather forecaster and feature reporter for ABC's "Good Morning America", helping to take that show to within breathing distance of NBC's "Today" show in the heated network morning show wars. While he was with "Good Morning America", Tony contributed music, entertainment, and other features and segments to the show. He covered a wide range of events and locations in his years on the broadcast. He also frequently reported on location from weather disasters—often while they were occurring—including nearly twenty hurricanes. His work led to appearances and reports on Fox News Channel and CNN. Tony's work on "Good Morning America"--and, in particular, his sense of humor (he used to be a stand-up comic)--brought him to other projects.  Tony Perkins first worked at WTTG-TV as co-anchor of "Fox Morning News" from 1998 to 1999, conducting interviews, doing feature segments and reviewing movies. Before that, he served as the show's weather personality starting in 1993, and his warm and often humorous presentation made him one of the most popular TV personalities in the nation's capitol. Tony grew up in the Washington area, attending Mt. Vernon High School in Fairfax County, and the American University in Washington, D.C. He lives here with his wife and son.
Manu’s interest in survival training began the day she was born in far North Queensland, Australia. From an early age, Manu had to adapt and improvise to what the tough environment threw at her. Manu was exposed not only to the dangers of farming activity, but also the extreme climate of high heat and humidity. It was learned at an early age to use the source of sugar cane and coconut for hydration while playing outside the access of fresh water. Among many experiences in which the environment taught her to rely upon her instincts are the times when, at age 9, while attending to the chickens after sunset, she stepped barefoot on a coral snake by accident. She continued to apply pressure until her father could help her, and at age 11 when kayaking through the mangroves, ended in tragedy, when a saltwater crocodile barged the kayak tipping it over and attacked her dog. She credits her quick reflexes and the dog’s sacrifice with the reason why she’s still alive. At age 17, Manu joined the military and served over 8 years. Her last 4 years she served in Combative Deployment Operations, in which every year they had to do two weeks of wilderness jungle survival  and up to 3 months training in the desert. The military helped her adapt her natural instincts into a more educated form of survival, tailored to the specifics of surviving during wartime. Again, her instincts came into play. Military tactics require sleeping on the ground, and one night a snake crawled into her sleeping bag, but instead of panicking she waited until first light to alarm the CO of the situation. After unzipping her sleeping bag, they found a King Brown snake had made its home between her legs! Again, Manu escaped without injury.
Kimberly Hill was born in Mission Hills, Ca. At a very young age, she developed a love for acting. As a teenager, her family moved to Las Vegas, Nv., where she began her formal acting studies. Kimberly honed her skills, by seizing every opportunity to practice her craft; stage plays, commercials, and short films. Kimberly is always looking for opportunities to expand her artistry and talent. The Comicality Project was wrought into existence when a group of Las Vegas' finest independent filmmakers banded together to create an all-star team of sketch comedy. Combining the efforts of Michael Tushaus from Digisphere Productions, Kris Mayeshiro from KM2 Creative, Med Jast from Dwindle Bright Productions, and the entire crew of Somnium Productions, The Comicality Project aims to deliver consistent, web-based content on a professional level. It is the age of the internet, and in between shooting feature films we've had so many funny ideas that we wanted to bring them to life. Thus, The Comicality Project was born in an effort to scratch our comedic itch and share our unique brand of edgy sketch comedy and storytelling with the world.

"I offer classes and consultations on adult education and its application to any topic. My seminars model the processes of effective teaching and can help anyone integrate the principles and practices of adult education into their teaching style. I especially enjoy teaching sex educators how to create, teach, and evaluate amazing workshops that help spread sexual health and information." ~ Charlie Glickman, PhD Sex, Shame, and Love Shame influences and shapes sexuality for almost everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, and individual desires. If we want to overcome and move past sexual shame, we need to understand how it works and how it affects us. We’ll unpack the mechanisms of shame, discuss how it shapes sexuality, and what we can do to build shame resilience. When we have the tools to deal with this difficult but inevitable emotion, it becomes much easier to resolve jealousy, loss, and fear so we can create more space to give and receive love, explore our authentic selves, and build the relationships that suit us. Come learn new ways to keep shame from getting in the way and create the relationships that work for you. Sex-Positivity The legacy of sex-negativity, the myth of the normal, and institutionalized sexual shame have left deep marks upon society. Although sexual images and messages surround us, they are often indicative of obsession rather than sexual health. Moving towards a sex-positive perspective can help us find the balance between repression and rebellion in order to discover our individual sexual well-being. This topic can be approached from a number of perspectives, including sexual health, communication, sexual authenticity, gender diversity, and social oppression.
In 2003, Tiffany Madera aka “Hanan,” enraged her Cuban family in Miami by getting on a plane to Havana to participate in an artistic exchange that led to the formation of Cuba’s first Arabic dance troupe; Grupo Aisha Al-Hanan. The troupe founded by hanan was composed of eight women at the University of Havana’s History Department.  A live band of musicians shortly followed from Havana’s colorful and diverse music scene. Guided by hanan, Grupo Aisha Al Hanan; quickly gained notoriety around Cuba despite its departure from State- Sanctioned Culture and Art models. A grassroots cultural movement ensued which had a profound impact on many lives across the globe. For Hanan’s family, her returning to Cuba was like an act of support for the Communist Revolution that drove them from their island to Miami. Havana Habibi begins three years later following Hanan’s visit to Havana for the International Dance Festival and workshops with Grupo Aisha Al-Hanan.  We meet the ensemble and see the sacrifices they make to create their art. Havana Habibi looks at the cross cultural exchange and intermigration between Africa, Cuba, Spain and the USA; what it means to be a Cuban Bellydancer in Revolutionary Cuba as well as the Cuban Diaspora and travels throughout time, geography and space to tell the human story behind Revolution and geo-political Identity through the sensual metaphor of Bellydance.   Jason Bee Alafia joins me to discuss this critically acclaimed documentary film.
