Leukaemia CAST is a five-part series for you to hear all about life with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, getting insights from patients, their families and their healthcare professionals through their personal stories.</p><p>The start of all cancer journeys is life changing. Getting a diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia is devastating for patients and their families. The schedule of treatment can be overwhelming but all cancer journeys are different. What does life look like after a diagnosis and what should patients and their families expect and how can they prepare for this journey?</p><p>We hope that this podcast will provide you, the listener, with practical advice on how to best navigate the cancer journey with a child or young person with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.</p>

In this episode we talk to KIM MURRAY who is a social worker at Crumlin Children’s Hospital. Children with ALL and other child-hood diseases need support in understanding their diagnosis and how this may impact their everyday life. The social worker helps families navigate through their journey of treatment both psychologically and logistically.

Being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) is no doubt extremely hard-going for the child themselves but being the parent of a child with a new diagnosis of ALL can be devastating and overwhelming.  In this episode, we talk to parents Dolores and Des and hear their personal story of how they and their family came to learn about the diagnosis of Ciara with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). We hear how the family initially dealt with hearing of this new diagnosis and how they coped with the journey through treatment. Dolores and Des share their emotional story with us and offers their advice to other parents of a child with ALL.
