In this special election broadcast, Tim talks with Mike Gonidakis of Ohio Right to Life about the candidate who is the self-described "adult in the room" when it comes to the 2016 race for the presidency, Governor John Kasich. Unlike every other election discussion, this interview avoids getting sucked into the Trump vortex and instead focuses on Kasich's faith and record as governor. After the interview, Tim then attempts to explain the Trump phenomenon and how this election is changing the criteria for selecting a candidate.
In this final episode of Life360 with Tim Jacobs, Tim explains the reason for the decision to go on an indefinite hiatus. The demands a full-time senior pastor position, plus being a dad to three kids and husband to one wife have led to the decision to simplify life at this time. However, there are still some hard hitting subjects covered in this episode, as well as many other shows with interviews and commentary available below. If you'd like to connect with Tim, please email him at tim@compasschurchaz.com, or find him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/pastortimjacobs. Thanks for your support!
Tim talks with Garret Epps, Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Baltimore, who wrote a piece in the Atlantic about the implications of the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act. While the discussion is cordial (first time guests to the show are always given the benefit of the doubt!), Tim clearly takes issue with the fact that those who support this law do so because of their "dislike" of homosexuals as well as other key points of Epps' article.
It's the Easter edition of Life360 with Tim Jacobs, and Tim asks the question: Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Because if he didn't, according to 1 Corinthians 15, the entire Christian religion is a joke. So what do you believe? Tim presents the evidence for the resurrection and makes the point that the alternatives are harder to believe than the actual resurrection claim itself.
Everyone talks about eliminating poverty, but how do you really do that? Tim talks with CEO and Co-Founder of Arizona Charter Academy, Melissa Holdaway, about her vision of breaking the generational cycle of poverty through education. Far from giving low-income kids an excuse, Melissa challenges them to become leaders, entrepreneurs, and succeed at whatever they set out to accomplish. You do not want to miss this interview.
Many people think that "church" is going the way of the newspaper and the horse and buggy - outdated, unnecessary, and irrelevant. But the truth is, more churches are being planted than are being closed, and the ones really growing are those that have a clear Biblical message and making a difference in their community. In this episode Tim interviews three volunteers who are leading "Inside Out" - an event that consists of shutting down Compass Church in Goodyear, AZ, on a Sunday morning and unleashing the congregation out into the community to do acts of service all over the place.
The little strip of of land along the Mediterranean the size of New Jersey has been, and will continue to be, at the center of the world's attention. In light of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's powerful speech before Congress, Tim talks about the prophetic, political, and economic powerhouse that is Israel and their critical place in the world.
Tim interviews two pastors from Compass Church, Mike Szoradi and Gabe Legaspi, about life, God, marriage, and manhood. Many people think pastors are nothing but old guys with an outdated message who are out of touch with the "real world." But Gabe and Mike, both in their early 30's, represent the next generation of pastors who are walking the talk. Listen to their stories of faith, redemption, and hope as they live out their calling as husbands, fathers, and pastors.
Alabama is the next state to approve same-sex marriage, and Tim makes the case that we as a nation never bothered to really think deeply about this issue as a nation before rushing to redefine marriage. The second part of the show is an interview with the very popular and prolific novelist Susan Meissner. Susan joins Tim to talk about her new book, Secrets of a Charmed Life, a great read and/or a perfect Valentine's gift for the lady in your life.
Greg Koukl, founder and president of Stand to Reason ministries, joins Tim to discuss how to answer common questions Christians are asked such as, "Who are you to say your religion is right?" and "Why are you Christians so intolerant?" By using the "Columbo" method of asking questions and reversing the burden of proof, it becomes much easier to point out the lack of clarity in the questioner and then have a more meaningful conversation. The rest of the show is a discussion about a different way to engage people in the public square which is rather, well, hideous.
Tim interviews Mark Galli, editor of Christianity Today, about the controversy surrounding The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven. Are Near Death Experiences (NDE's) true and if so, what should we think about them? The second half-hour Tim interviews Ryan Bell of www.yearwithoutgod.com about how he, as a pastor, left Christianity to become an atheist. There are so many issues packed in this one hour show... it's one that will definitely leave your head spinning!
Tim talks with Brad Johnson, author of The Four Laws of Forgiveness, about how to give and receive forgiveness. Brad shares his own journey of discovering God's grace and moving past shame. The second half of the show is a lesson in economics that makes the case that money in the hands of good people (as opposed to the government) makes the world a better place.
New York Times bestselling author Stephen Mansfield joins Tim to talk about his book, Mansfield's Book of Manly Men, and the whole subject of manliness in our culture. Mansfield has thought deeply and written passionately about what makes a true man and how every man can become what he was created to be.
Tim catches up with the LIfe360 with Tim Jacobs Official Middle East Correspondent, John Cook, on efforts to alleviate the Christian refugee crisis resulting from the rise of ISIS. The show continues with a discussion about a former pastor-turned-atheist and how important behavior is to belief.
Tim unveils the "Heavy Theological Reflections" segment and talks candidly about Heaven and Hell. Also, a recent article in the Telegraph suggests that 2014 may be one of the best years in all of human history. But is that true? Isn't it more fun (and more responsible) to believe we're all teetering on the edge of disaster, rather than the fact that we may be living in the Golden Age? Christians should keep the glass half full and be fearless in risking, expanding, and growing as we "subdue" this great planet God has given us!
Your heart will be encouraged as Tim explains the significance of the fact that shepherds are among the first to be told of the birth of Jesus by the angels. When they sing "Glory to God in the highest of heaven" could it have also been because they themselves were moved by the heart of God to share the good news with the "least of these" in society? This short 15-minute segment also features special guest Cambria Jacobs, who reads several passages of Scripture.
Self-proclaimed Islamic terrorist turned born-again Christian Kamal Saleem, co-author of the new thriller The Coalition, comes on the show to talk about the reality of "stealth jihad" in the United States. Saleem explains the mindset and strategies of jihadists living in the U.S. who are slowly but steadily gaining ground in places of influence. This riveting 30-minute interview opens up all kinds of issues that the mainstream media is conveniently ignoring.
Should Christians be okay with torture if done for the “right” reasons? Tim says yes, but his guest, Dr. Angela Swan, Professor of Criminal Justice at Grand Canyon University, attempts to change his mind. You've got to hear this engaging, lively discussion about how a Christian should see the issue of torture.
We've heard for years that women have given up on men - that all the good ones are taken, and "they don't make them like they used to." But a new article suggests that its men now who are starting to give up on women - at least in the sense of long-term commitment. In fact, some of them are checking out of society altogether. Why is that, and what can men do to once again inspire women? Find out in this compelling broadcast.
Is it possible for a white guy and a black guy to sit down and have an honest, candid conversation about how each interprets the outcome of the Grand Jury decision in Ferguson? That's was the goal in this in-studio interview with Andre Mooney, Professor in the Department of Theology at Grand Canyon University. Tim and Andre attempt to model for the audience the honest dialogue that is possible between people of different races about controversial topics, and how bridges can be build that extend beyond that extend beyond events in the news. In the end, reconciliation can only come from having the grace and love of Jesus as a common denominator.
