Family life, even in chaos and mess, is the first society we’re part of, and where we learn how to interact with others. Raising tiny humans, and forming them into good people, is the most important work we’ll ever do. Rachel Leininger is in the thick of that work, with 4 kids, first grade down to toddler, and has learned (and shares today) how keeping short accounts - forgiving quickly and loving without reservation - is the only way to survive and thrive in the every day. On this solo episode of Like A Mother, Katie  takes a deep dive into the concept of identity and self-care, exploring how external roles such as being a wife, mother, or professional often dominate ones self-perception. Amidst these reflections, a unique journey unfolds—a rediscovery of joy through the simplicity of building Lego sets. It's not just a narrative about a hobby; it's about finding space for oneself in a busy life, embracing small pleasures that feed the soul, and ultimately, how engaging in seemingly simple activities can lead to profound insights about living abundantly and caring for oneself. Tune in to embark on a reflective journey of self-discovery, identity, and the unexpected ways we can find joy. This episode is sponsored by Saint Meinrad Seminary: Click saintmeinrad.edu/OSV to learn more about Graduate Theology at Saint Meinrad Seminary & School of Theology. Mary Lenaburg has had to “reset” in life a few times. Addiction, disabilities, financial woes, loss, and grief have touched her life, and in it all, there has been a willingness to walk into the fire and lean into the many spiritual, emotional, and physical resets required. Motherhood is often an embrace of what is hard, and when we lean into the hard resets, and rest in the love of Jesus, we are able to do hard things. This episode is sponsored by the U.S. bishops' 9 Days for Life NovenaJoin the U.S. bishops’ pro-life novena from January 16 through January 24www.9daysforlife.comAn OSV Podcasts original. It’s so easy to react to circumstances. It’s so easy to over-react, in fact. But what we’re called to do, and hopefully what we learn to do, is respond.
