can we ever dismantle the nuclear family

I rant about my morning routine and the nuclear family. I don't think we can do it, sadly. And as logically. And as expected. Powered by Firstory Hosting

What is the fundamental unit of the world?

I had an epiphany (a bit late) last Saturday (30 May). I can't wait to share it! Dichotomies and 'invisible walls' don't matter at atll. Individuals don't matter at all. I talk about how the true unit of the world is an incorporated business. Powered by Firstory Hosting

Would education change things? (On rejections, bureaucracy, scams)

Basically moaning about the scammy nature of the world and the rejections. :( Originally titled: "Was my mother's suffering worth it?" but felt like it might have been too melodramatic. David Foster Wallace: This is Water Fyre Festival Powered by Firstory Hosting

Why is 'rest' mandatory?

Also known as, my Anti-Love Campaign Or Why I'm against 'work-life balance'. 'Capitalism' is a hoax, and 'patriarchy' is a hoax. But the worst of them all: Love. The society has come up with new ways of counteracting the menace for working for a corporation or working at all, which is to posit the family as the solution. Does intelligence matter?

I discuss the whole concept of 'intelligence' and if it even means anything. i think it doesn't. The book I mentioned: Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go [spoilers!] The concept: the main characters are 'clones' who were brought to life to have their organs harvested. At school, they had a 'gallery', where the best art is displayed. They took it seriously. Some had a theory that students who can prove they're in love can get a 'deferral', so have a couple of years together before going for the donation. Tommy, one of the main characters, thinks that the art in the gallery shows their souls... and souls reveal whether you're truly in love. They went back to the headmaster, who told them, "The gallery is just to see if you have souls at all." Powered by Firstory Hosting

My blog: www.yen1993.com Barclays had an IT glitch last week: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/barclays-bank-down-outage-app-b2690614.html The quote by Toni Morrison: “The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing.” -Lecture in Portland, Oregon, 1975 Powered by Firstory Hosting

What does whisky do to you? (On Conversation)

A new dating site I made: https://oioilook.com My blog: www.yen1993.com I talk about what we talk about when we talk. A bit of Scotland, a bit of Sally Rooney. And disappointments in life. I think this might be my best episode and year yet. Books mentioned: Normal People, Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney And Hemingway. Places mentioned: Glasgow and Edinburgh The supposedly famous quote in Normal People the show: "It's not like this with other people." The real juicy bit is: "I'm literally still inside you." I do maintain that Sally Rooney's work is 50% porn for women. Powered by Firstory Hosting

What is my new perspective? Part 2, list of films

A new dating site I made: https://oioilook.com My blog: www.yen1993.com Films by directors who are women or gay men: The Substance (2024) by Coralie Fargeat With Demi Moore Vagabond (1985) by Agnes Varda Le Bonheur (1965) by Agnes Varda Queer (2024) William Burroughs. By Luca Guadagnino (gay) With Daniel Craig "Junk is a cellular equation that teaches the user facts of general validity. I have learned a great deal from using junk: I have seen life measured out in eyedroppers of morphine solution. I experienced the agonising deprivation of junk sickness, and the pleasure of relief when junk-thirsty cells drank from the needle. Perhaps all pleasure is relief. I have learned the cellular stoicism that junk teaches the user. I have seen a cell full of sick junkies silent and immobile in separate misery. They knew the pointlessness of complaining or moving. They knew that basically no one can help anyone else. There is no key, no secret someone else has that he can give you. I have learned the junk equation. Junk is not, like alcohol or weed, a means to increased enjoyment of life. Junk is not a kick. It is a way of life." -Junky, Prologue (by William Burroughs) The Nature of Love by Monia Chokri ·     French-Canadian film about a blue-collar construction guy, and a philosophy professor This Closeness (2023) by Kit Zauhar ·     A couple renting an airbnb place where the host is awkward Actual People (2021) by Kit Zauhar ·     Philosophy college student's last semester ·     Brita scene Parallel Mothers (2021) by Pedro Almodovar (gay) ·     Two mothers giving birth the same day ·     Babies swapped?
