"You will have no other gods before me." "You will not take the Lord's name in vain." "You will not bear false witness against your neighbor." "You will not circulate a false report." These biblical laws don't allow for religious liberty or freedom of speech. It's taking liberty that God never gave us and ends up giving legal protection for those who practice witchcraft, Islam, and dishonest news media. Furthermore, liberty is our national idol. We've taken liberty that God never gave us to do the things He hates. Liberty is certainly a gift from God, but so is fertility and rain; it's that they've all at certain times by various people been idolized and SERVED above God. Americans of all kind serve liberty, some as a license to sin, and others to maintain man-made traditions that make void the commandments of God. And this national idol is most-prominately portrayed by the Statue of Liberty in defiance of the second commandment.
