Living Unsubscribed

The mission of the Living Unsubscribed Podcast is to have conversations and spark ideas around the subject of personal growth, entrepreneurship and how to create a more fulfilling life. I’m far from an expert in life but I do want to share my journey into personal growth, as well as start a community of like-minded people. You can tune in weekly to the Living Unsubscribed podcast for fresh new episodes, posted every Sunday. I hope these episodes are able to inspire you to live a life that is fulfilling and full of abundance. If you find this podcast or one of the episodes of value, I ask that you share it with someone you know so that we can continue the conversation and reach as many people as possible. My name is Jess and I am excited for this new journey we get to take together.

Leveraged vs. Linear Income

There are many different routes to take when it comes to generating multiple streams of income, and making passive income. Something I have realized is that in order to make more money, working harder isn’t necessarily the answer. Working smarter, is.

Mental Toughness

How do you create something no one can take from you? Going to the gym consistently taught me about building a routine, commitment, dedication and discipline. Everything I learned in the gym, I can use in other areas of my life. It has helped me build confidence, respect myself, love myself and know that I can do anything I put my mind to. It’s about being able to grow your mind just as much as your body. Mental toughness is something no one can take from you.

What Would Life Be Like?

It might seem easy to simply do as everyone else does. Give in to the instant dopamine hits, the instant gratification and pleasures of life. But these things rarely have space in your life if you are trying to achieve big goals. Instant gratification doesn’t grow you, delayed gratification does. What would your life look like if you stopped avoiding doing what you knew you needed to do?

Define the Moment

A big part of becoming successful is having a plan when it feels like everything is turned against you. What version of you will you choose to be? When the moments of struggle come, what will your plan be? Will you listen to people who want to talk negativity over your life? Will you let your inner doubts and insecurities take over? Are you going to give up early on your goals? Decide what your plan will be.

Self Fulfilling Prophecy

Self-fulfilling prophecy, also known as interpersonal expectancy effect, refers to the phenomenon whereby a person’s or a group’s expectation for the behavior of another person or group serves actually to bring about the prophesied or expected behavior.

What is For Me?

Becoming more aware of what things are deterring us from our destiny and which things will propel us towards our destiny can only aid in us becoming more directed, less distracted and ultimately more successful at achieving our goals.

Mindset

You will only go as far as your mind allows. Why not believe for the best outcome? Why not carry around a belief that it can be done?

Abolishing Victim Mentality

We live in a world that seems to glorify victim mentality. It’s become accepted to think that we are simply a victim of our upbringing, our skin color, our gender or whatever else we may choose to decide makes us at a disadvantage. In some cases, we are even rewarded for being socially disadvantaged. And it feels good at first. It feels good to throw yourself a pity party and make excuses for why you are the way you are and why you aren’t as successful as you could have been.

How to Determine What Someone Values

I think we are all hypocrites to a certain extent. We all say we care about one thing, yet do another. We all say we believe in certain things and then do things that totally negate those beliefs. How can we truly discover someone’s values? Can we simply trust that they value what they say they value? Or do we need to watch their actions? The best way to determine what someone values is to watch what they spend their time, money and energy on.

"That's It"

The statement “that’s it” when it comes to our problems could help maintain our composure in the heat of the moment when things are not going our way. It sees the problem, it acknowledges the problem, and it says okay. It is what it is. Let’s keep going. Don’t let this problem become more than it is. Don’t let it get the best of you.

Building Self-Respect

We decide to work towards one of our goals, we decide we want to accomplish something, we decide to get in shape or eat right or invest into a new hobby or save money, etc.And then we don’t honor those commitments

Little Intention = Little Direction

The dictionary definition of Intention is: a thing intended; an aim or plan. Are we making decisions with an eventual goal, aim or plan in place? As I have talked about before, our dream life, income, partner, etc. will not just fall into our lives one day. These are things we have to work towards and for. These are things we have to invest in, learn about, grow in and have a plan of action as to how we will achieve them.

The Waiting Game

Putting the power back into our own hands and realizing that we are in control of our lives allows us to take responsibility of where we are at and what decisions we have made that led us here.

We Are All Directors

We need to start viewing our life as being changeable, malleable and most importantly, worthy of a good storyline. We really are the ones creating our stories as we go along. Why not make something good?

The Fear of Failure

For anyone who has big goals and wants to accomplish them, accepting the inevitability of failure is a must. We need to get over this mental hurdle that failure is somehow a bad thing. Once we accept that we will fail and we will fail often, we will welcome failures as what they actually are. A learning experience.

An Intentional Life

When we live our lives unintentionally, we are directionless. If we want more out of life, (a healthy relationship, a better job, a higher income, a successful business, a better body, better health, learning a new hobby, etc.). we must live intentionally.

Learning to Let Go

My experience reading The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Grappling with the ideas of mindfulness and enjoying present pleasures against my more natural inclination to live a life that is geared around delayed gratification, discipline and future goals.
