A Mother's Love

Being a parent is a tough job. You love your children but love doesn't mean accepting everything they do. Discipline, punishment, and being selective with our blessings are all a part of our Lord's "parenting style".  It can be so hard to remember He has what is best for us in mind when we are weathering our storms, whether it's in the form of discipline, punishment, or just not getting what we pray for. This episode will encourage you to hold on because this is the most important relationship of your life!Scripture References:Hebrews 12:62 Peter 3:9Hebrews 11:6Mark 11:24Philippians 4:6-7Proverbs 3:5-6To order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences or to contact Silvia Davis visit www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
We are told to knock, seek, and ask but there is a reason the phrase, "Be careful what you ask for" exists. If you ask for success in life, are you prepared for what having it could truly mean? If you commit your life to Christ, are you prepared for what that could truly mean? That's what we talk about in this week's episode! Listen and be prepared to let your light shine!Bible references:Matt. 5:15Matt.16:24-26Matt. 5:11Also mentioned, S1 E7: https://livingaparable.buzzsprout.com/1925731/10861912To learn more about your host, Silvia Davis or to order your copy of her award-winning book please visit www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
God is Jealous for You

God is Jealous for You

How can God be love, when love is not jealous, but the Bible says God is a jealous God? Have  you ever thought of the differences between what it means to be jealous and what it means to be envious? In this week's episode we talk about envy and jealousy, their differences, and how God can be a jealous God and still be love.Scriptures referenced:Romans 1:29Galatians 5:25-26Romans 12:151 Corinthians 13:41 John 4:8Deut 4:24Exodus 20:5Deut 5:9Deut 6:15Joshua 24:19Zechariah 1:14The picture of a messed up Tiffany Box: https://livingaparable.com/extrasTo learn more about the author and to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
It's a given. In life we are going to have trials, it's unavoidable. Some of those trials may be self-inflicted, or maybe even disciplinary, but others, well others can make us just feel like victims because we can't figure out what in the world we did to deserve what we are going through. Going through trials and hardships are a part of life, even for Christians. There is no way to live a full life and not go through moments that will test us, push us, challenge us. It may seem impossible but we are to give thanks even during those times, but how? That is the topic of this week's episode and chances are the advice given isn't what you would expect.Listen to learn three different ways that you can put to use today that will help you to become a more positive person who is full of gratitude!Scriptures in this episode are:1 Thessalonians 5:16-18Nightbirde's Audition on America's Got Talent: https://youtu.be/CZJvBfoHDk0To purchase your paperback, electronic, or audible copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences or to contact Silvia Davis visit https://www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
When you stand up for Christ and let others know about your faith, opposition is inevitable. Opposition is a guarantee. Your faith will be challenged. Those who don't believe will mock not only your faith but in worst case scenarios, your intelligence. How do you respond without  meeting their hateful and hurtful words with hateful and hurtful words of your own? How do you keep a calm and level head? How do you refrain from feeling insulted? How do you tell the truth and stand up for the truth without going down a rabbit hole of worthless back-and-forth debate? The answer to all of these questions is, we respond as Christ did.Jesus was always put into situations where He was being questioned by people who didn't believe Him or didn't want to believe Him and were trying to set Him up every chance they got. The way Christ responded to these individuals gives us the perfect example of ways we too can respond today!Scriptures used in this episode in the order they are mentioned:Matthew 12:9-14Mark 7:1-13Isaiah 29:13John 8:3-11Matthew 21:23-27Matthew 7:6Matthew 22:34-39Luke 12:51-53To purchase your paperback, electronic, or audible copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences or to contact Silvia Davis visit https://www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
Imagine if free will was not a thing. Imagine if everyone loved you because they had no choice not to. Would you really feel loved? The free will God gives us is a gift and it serves a powerful purpose. This episode talks about the power of free will and piggy-backs on last week's episode. Episode Six asks the question, "What would you change in the world if you had God's power.... but you can't take away man's free will." After listening to this episode you may come to the conclusion that even with all of the sin in the world, you just might realize how important it is for man to be able to make their own decisions, even if those decisions are sometimes sinful.Bible verses mentioned in this episode:Joshua 24:15Matthew 13:24-30Matthew 13:36-432 Peter 3:9To learn more about the host, Silvia Davis, and her award-winning book, Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comAlso mentioned in this week's episode: www.empressivecandles.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
Today's world can be a scary place. What if you had the power of God? What would you change about the world? With the world's current events in mind it's easy for us to come up with a lot of things we would change.Episode 5 invites you to explore the question a little deeper. In this episode Silvia shares her answer to the question and then shares how the answer gives hope even in a world where things sometimes seem to be coming unhinged.Find out more about host and award-winning author, Silvia Davis at https://www.livingaparable.comTo book Silvia to speak at your event or to order your copy of Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences visit www.livingaparable.comEmail: silvia@livingaparable.comConnect on:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn
