Local Fidelity is a weekly radio program that showcases the best new music from Brooklyn and the greater New York City area music scene. As an avid participant and gig-goer, host Tom Gallo guides listeners through the depths of the city’s unrivaled underground music scene with specially curated playlists and in-depth interviews with local artists that are just on the verge of breaking out. You can also catch the occasional live in-studio performance and hear recorded performances from Tom’s cassette archive, The McKenzie Tapes, which contains a plethora of live performances at various NYC venues over the course of the last 40 years.

It's summertime and we are not sad here at Local Fidelity! The June 14th edition of the program was fully loaded with lots of good vibes. Listen to hear a great playlist of all locals, including new music from Polo Grounds, Plastic Picnic, Navel Grazr, Julia Zivic, Sweaty Lamarr, Martin Courtney, Been Stellar, Ecocoboys, Hello Mary, Phantom Handshakes, Francie Moon, Ogbert The Nerd, Emily Gabriele, and a live cuy from Love, Burns!
Local Fidelity returned on June 7th after a little hiatus. The program returned in dramatic fashion with a killer playlist of all locals. Yeah, it's March. Yeah, Local Fidelity just had a two-week hiatus because Tom was traveling a bit. No matter, though, as the final edition of the program for the month of March was straight-up awesome. We previewed the Saturday, April 4th gig at Our Wicked Lady with some excellent tunes from Dog In A Man Suit and Laurel Canyon. Plus, we caught up on a slew of great new New York City music from The Trypes, Jeanines, Endearments, Couch Prints, Sooner, Forever Honey, Barrie, Aubrey Haddard, Wizard Brain, The Bobby Lees, and more.

The March 1st edition of Local Fidelity previews the upcoming New Colossus Festival, which starts next Wednesday, March 9th here in New York City! The festival, which runs through March 13th, includes shows at several lower Manhattan venues, including Pianos, Arlene's Grocery, Berlin, East Berlin, The Bowery Electric, and Mercury Lounge. After a brief hiatus, Local Fidelity returned to the airwaves on December 7th for its first-ever Tuesday show! We kicked things off with the hip hop classic “Crooklyn” by The Crooklyn Dodgers to honor Brooklyn Dodger and Met legend Gil Hodges' recent (and long overdue) induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Plus, we spun some awesome new New York City tunes from Sedona, Veronica Everheart, Laurel Canyon, Ok Cowgirl, The Natvral & Jen Goma, Goo, Jelly Kelly, Tom Barrett, Shallowhalo, Pecas, and more. We ended the hour with LAPêCHE's festive rendition of The Pretenders holiday classic "2000 Miles."

Last week, our dear friend Mauri Skinfill (aka Luisa Black) of Rich Girls left this world. We had the pleasure of talking with her extensively in July of 2020 for an episode of Local Fidelity. Today, we're reairing that episode with a special foreword in her memory. She was so immensely talented and a wonderful person who will be missed tremendously. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband Justin Kerr and all those who loved her.
