This will be the first meeting since he received a seven-year contract from the Kraken over the summer. Could we see Akira Schmid in net for the first time this season in tonight's game between the pipes? Seattle's Phillip Grubauer is out after suffering an "unfortunate accident" at home this week. We have our Locks of the Knight and WTF comments on the show.

The Golden Knights came-from-behind for a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Alberta last night. Noah Hanifin scored twice including the game-winner. Aiden Hill turned away 27 shots on net in what might have been one of his top performances of the season. VGK won on the road for the first time this season in five games away from home. Conner McDavid returned to the Oilers lineup, after being sidelined with an ankle injury, and wasn't effective for Edmonton. One of Hanifin's goals came on the power play against the Oilers PK, which is worst in the league. We talk about how Hanifin's game has evolved. And we also have updates on former Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault and Logan Thompson.
The Golden Knights will try to get their first road win of the season tonight in Edmonton against the rival Oilers, who have won the past two meetings against VGK. The Golden Knights have started off the season at 0-3-1 on the road. The Oilers have been playing without superstar Connor McDavid (ankle.) He returned to the ice Monday, and VGK could see him in the Oil lineup tonight. The Oilers have been hurting on special teams - they are 26th in the league on the power play and they are ranked last on the penalty kill at 60%. VGK head coach Bruce Cassidy sounded positive at Tuesday's presser. He said his team is up for the challenge. The Golden Knights will be minus #2 goalie Ilya Samsonov who is out until next Monday. VGK bought up Akira Schmid to back up Aiden Hill tonight. We also have our Locks of the Knight and predictions.
We answer the question if VGK is a good team on today's podcast. We also talk about whether VGK will sign one of it's pending free agents in-season. And discuss VGK's early luck being healthy.
The Golden Knights ran their home record to 8-0 Saturday night, but they had to come from behind and steal the win in overtime. Brett Howden potted the game-winner. VGK trailed 2-0 in the second period before Pavel Dorofeyev and Noah Hanifin goals. It was Hanifin's first goal of the season and it came with under a second left on the clock in the second period. William Karlsson also scored for the Golden Knight. The last 8 game win streak on home ice came in VGK's inaugural season. We talk about Brett Howden's heater as he has six goals. His career high is 9. And, we talk about the tough road schedule ahead this month for the Golden Knights.
The Golden Knights will entertain Utah for the first-ever regular season meeting at the Fortress Saturday night. Utah started out the season at 3-0 but since is 2-4-2. They broke a 4-game losing streak with a win over the Flames earlier this week. The HC lost two key blueliners until after the New Year - Sean Durzi and John Marino both had recent surgeries. We also talk about Brendan Brisson being sent down to the AHL. He has played in 7 games and is scoreless this season. It could be a salary cap move. And, we have our weekly WTF feature.
The Golden Knights remain winless after what Bruce Cassidy called a "sloppy" effort in Los Angeles Wednesday night. VGK lost 6-3 to the Kings to remain winless away from home. The Golden Knights are 7-0 at home but 0-3-1 away from the Fortress. The Kings took control early in the game, built a 4-0 lead, and never looked back. The goals for VGK: Pavel Dorofeyev found the back of the net twice, former King Tanner Pearson scored the other goal. We look into why VGK is bad away from home. And, we talk about strange lineup decisions for Bruce Cassidy.
The Golden Knights are hoping for the same result as they had against the Kings a week ago in Las Vegas, when they won 6-1, as VGK travels to L.A. this time for tonight's game. The Golden Knights Tomas Hertl had a breakout game in the initial meeting with two goals and a four point game. Alex Pietrangelo and Mark Stone each had three point wins in that game. The Golden Knights are 0-2-1 on the road this season and a perfect 7-0 at home so far. We give you our VGK grades through the first 10 games of the season. And we have our Locks of the Knight.
Adin Hill stopped all 16 shots he faced and the Golden Knights fourth line put away the Flames by scoring three goals in the final period (2 for Kolesar, 1 Nic Roy) in Monday's 5-0 shutout win over Calgary. VGK remains undefeated at home at 7-0 and they swept the four game homestand. Kolesar and Roy had three-point games. Hill played well behind the defense, which blocked 23 shots last night. We talk about Alex Pietrangelo's hot start as he potted his first goal of the season. He has 12 points and is a +10 so far. And we also discuss VGK's depth scoring - which has improved a ton since the first few games this season.
The Golden Knights come off back-to-back wins over the weekend to remain undefeated at home. VGK came from behind in the matinee Friday vs Ottawa. They trailed 4-3 in that game before a three goal outburst in the game's final 4 1/2 minutes. The Golden Knights had goals from Tomas Hertl on the power play, then Keegan Kolesar potted the game winner, followed by an ENG by Ivan Barbeshev for a 6-4 win. On Saturday, VGK came back to defeat the hapless San Jose Sharks 7-3. Monday night VGK welcomes the Calgary Flames to the Fortress to close out the homestand. Calgary started off the season 4-0 and now has lost three of four. We have our Locks of the Knight and game predictions.
We were among those who were surprised VGK signed defenseman Shea Theodore to a 7-year, $51.975-million contract extension on Thursday. Theodore was in a contract year. In his last 82 games, the blueliner has 71 points. VGK is hoping Theodore stays healthy this season. We preview the two Golden Knights upcoming games this weekend. And, it's that time for WTF with fan comments.
We give our opinions of what VGK line combinations might look like when William Karlsson returns this weekend. The Golden Knights have center depth and it will be interesting to see what players are slotted in on Karlsson's line. We also discuss a Hockey News article that asks if the Golden Knights would possibly trade a defenseman to Utah, a team which is down two star players until after the New Year. And, the Golden Knights ECHL affiliate Knight Monsters open their inaugural season in Tahoe tonight.
Tomas Hertl, the "Turtle" came out of his shell Tuesday night by scoring four points for the fourth time in his career, including two goals in a 6-1 win over the LA Kings. LA at times looked like a team that was playing its seventh straight road game. Mark Stone had three points, Pavel Dodofeyev had a two point night. And, Ivan Barbeshev had his five goal of the season. The Golden Knights played without Shea Theodore who had a last-minute illness. Kaeden Korczak took his place in the lineup. We also talk about the goalie rotation affected by "Team Canada tryouts."
It appears Bruce Cassidy is changing the VGK defensive pairings after the Shea Theodore-Alex Pietrangelo experiment apparently failed. The new lines at Monday's practice were Noah Hanifin and Alex Pietrangelo, Braydon McNabb-Theodore and Hague-Whitecloud stays in tact. Our Chris Gawlik said earlier Monday that he felt the lines could be switched. Also at Monday's practice, William Karlsson, skated in a red non-contact jersey. Bruce Cassidy also reported that Victor Olafsson will be out week-to-week. We preview VGK vs the Kings. This will be the seventh straight game on the road to begin the season as their arena undergoes renovations. We also have our Locks and Predictions.
VGK's road trip ended with an 0-2-1 record. The Golden Knights lost Saturday to the Florida Panthers on an O.T. goal with 16.2 seconds remaining. VGK blew another lead, they were up 3-2, before the game was tied in regulation and Gustav Forsling's overtime walk-off. VGK Was outshot 49-26 in the game. Ilya Samsonov saved 45 of those shots. Is this version of VGK what we all expected? Where is secondary scoring for the Golden Knights?
The Golden Knights gave up two goals in the final 2:22 in Thursday's loss at Tampa Bay 4-3. VGK allowed the Lightning to get through the neutral zone late and Nikita Kucherov scored the game-winner with just :55 to go. VGK again relied too much on its top line, which now has 27 points through five games and 10 for Jack Eichel. Stone and Eichel had assists on a Brayden McNabb goal in the contest. Brendon Brisson got the start on the third line. Tanner Pearson was moved up to line 2. We preview the final leg of the road trip at Florida on Saturday afternoon (3pm Las Vegas time.) And, it is WTF with all of your comments.
The Golden Knights will play their second game of the early-season three-game road trip Thursday night in Tampa. The Lightning are 2-0 so far and replaced Steven Stamkos with Jake Guentzel this off-season. As we point out, Guentzel has scored 12 points (five goals) in 11 games vs VGK. The Lightning are hoping to replace Samkos' 40 points including 19 on the power play. VGK will play tonight's game without Victor Olofsson, who suffered a leg injury at Washington Tuesday night. We talk about VGK special teams as they face last season's top power play unit. The Golden Knights will need to stay out of the penalty box tonight, because their PK has not been effective. And, we have our Locks of the Knight and more.
VGK looked tired in last night's loss at Washington 4-2. It became evident that the team had no legs as evidenced by three consecutive tripping penalties. Additionally, Ivan Barbeshev said spending that much time after the penalties occurred on the PK wore VGK down. Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson scored goals for the Golden Knights in the loss. Olofsson was helped off the ice after he fell awkwardly in the corner. He was later seen by D.C. media on crutches. And we also talk about VGK's defense experiencing growning pains.
Former VGK goaltender Logan Thompson will get the start for Washington tonight as the Golden Knights play their first road game of the season. Thompson requested a trade from the team this past summer. His request was granted by Kelly McCrimmon and he was sent to the Capitals. We preview tonight's matchup and we have our Locks of the Knight.
