WHAT. A. WEEK. LIV Golf wraps up their season with Jon Rahm taking home the championship. The Solheim Cup was a major success for women's golf. AND the PGA and LIV Golf "apparently" had a meeting to further discuss a potential merger. Let's dive in!
In a week where not much seemed to happen in the golf world... a lot seemed to happen. We have the LIV Golf season coming to an end, McIlroy and Scheffler are set to face DeChambeau and Koepka in a PGA vs LIV showdown, and DeChambeau announced that Tony Romo will be the next guest on "Breaking 50". It's also Member-Guest season, so let's talk about those handicaps...We also might have discovered the coolest putt-putt course in the world.
Scottie Scheffler closed the door this weekend on one of the greatest seasons of golf we've seen since early 2000's Tiger Woods. He claimed the FedEx Cup and won the Tour Championship. All positives. Now, for the negatives... do we need to have a serious conversation about the status of the FedEx Championship? It is supposed to be the "playoffs" but it doesn't feel like that... at all. Let's dive into it!
The PGA Tour headed to Castle Pines Golf Club this past weekend for the BMW Championship and let's just say things were... a bit weird. The altitude was creating some challenging conditions, players didn't seem like they really wanted to be there, and Keegan Bradley won! Lydia Ko won the Women's Open in an exciting tournament and Caleb and Nicky head down to Eagle Nest to play the 3rd longest golf course in America. Let's go!
The FedEx St. Jude Championship wrapped up this weekend with Hideki Matsuyama taking home the win. The U.S. Amateur was also an exciting contest with Jose Luis Ballester winning and holding off an impressive charge from Noah Kent. We also get some swing tips from John Daly and Bryson DeChambeau coming from the latest "Break 50" episode.
The PGA Tour regular season has come to an end and it was far from boring. Aaron Rai shoots 6-under on Sunday to bring home the championship while Matt Kutchar.... well just gave everyone another reason to hate on him. The LIV Golf world was also a bit interesting this weekend when Graeme McDowell tested positive for levomethamphetamine, or Vicks VapoRub. Who knew that was a banned substance? Let's dive in.
Scheffler started the Olympics a little slow and left himself a good amount of work to do for his final round and that is exactly what he did. Firing a final round of 62 led to an Olympic golf medal for Team USA.
The Olympics are here, and yes, we may not know much about some of the Olympic sports, but that doesn't mean we aren't going to talk about them. Plus, golf is in the Olympics so we will of course chat about that too! After a solid T7 finish at The Open, Jon Rahm wins LIV Golf U.K. for his first win in 15 months.
