After watching a video on a YouTuber explaining online why he was absent for two years, I had to sit and think on it. Why are we having so many young people having breakdowns and burnout on social media? Why are so many people trying to become Influencers, and why are there no support systems in place for vulnerable people?
Somebody has to talk about it. The #Booktok has been a blessing and a curse to authors everywhere. Let's talk about it.
Tiktok has become the most popular social media site today. Many writers use it to promote their businesses and many book reviewers use it to spread the word of good books. however, what happens when that same system is used to steal books from authors?
Black publishing has gotten better, but we can't lose our vigilance.
With COVID keeping us all inside, we have to ask if writing conferences are relevant anymore.
These last few months have been hard...it's hard to make episodes. But, I made it.
Listen as I talk about the changes to podcasting and authortube. I also dig into the frenemies situation. Podcasting is harder to do and I talk about the struggle of coming up with podcast ideas.
The most important thing a writer has to learn is to able to take criticism and take responsibility for what they say. In the last few weeks, there have been highs and lows in the creative community. The question is..how are we supposed to take criticism?
Fanfiction is a touchy subject for all writers. There are stories about writers, such as Anne Rice, who once threatened a fanfiction site to take her category down or she would sue. But today, we are talking about a hilariously ironic fanfic that managed to break the algorithm. In 1977, writer Alan Dean Foster wrote the novelization of Star Wars: A New Hope, and many other adaptations such as Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom and Alien. As the years went buy, any book he wrote that got a movie adaptation, he receieved royalties. Now that Disney has bought the rights to many books he has written noelizations for, the royalties has stopped. As I have read this article published by Polygon, Foster is not the only person that has stopped receiving royalties. Disney has a royalties problem. The link to the original Polygon article: https://www.polygon.com/2020/12/16/22166064/star-wars-alien-novelization-disney-royalties-sfwa-alan-dean-foster
In April 2018, a published Author named Addison Cain and her publisher Blusher Books filed a DMCA takedown against another Author named Zoey Ellis, stating she had plagiarized her work. This caused Ellis to lose sales and given the recognition of someone who steals work. In October 2018, Ellis sued Cain and Blusher Books for the loss of revenue and reputation. In 2019, Cain has been released from the lawsuit, but the publisher is still dealing with the lawsuit. Listen as I give criticism over a pretty avoidable situation.

Perfect Blue is a perfect anime form the 90s that still has relevancy today. People use the internet daily for little things. Everyone has a persona, especially Youtubers, but what happens when the persona takes over your daily life?
Inspired by Savage Book's video on character development, I decided to make a podcast episode about character development. The final season of Bojack Horseman has a great way of wrapping up each character's personal story. It also comes to light that not everyone needs to have a 'happy ending'. In fact, many readers may not get what they want.Link to Savage books: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXyVz9-w9Ippr-j2Yz4zAcQ/videos

The Forces of Evil, that has been saturated with fandom. The problem is, there are toxic fandoms out there that can oversaturate and change a story from it's core story, creating a problem.
