Keep your ears open in the Autumn for Part 2.
Lauren Murray is the lead singer in the utterly brilliant Chvrches. She took time out to chat with Louise Duffy about touring, writing music, standing up for what you believe in and their forthcoming date with Beatyard Festival on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. We especially wanted to let Lauren know that we on the show really appreciate the bands stance on Chris Brown and their statement about Mello working with him. Frankly we have a bit of a crush on Tim Chadwick, his latest single 'I Need To Know' is a slice of perfect sad banger pop and we cannot get enough. Tim came in and recorded a very special session for us, with a stripped back version of 'I Need To Know' and a stunning cover of Whitney Houston's 1987 classic 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody'. We really enjoyed this session and we think you will agree, he's got that certain something! Tim Chadwick is a Dublin native, with a penchant for writing a mega catchy hook. He is signed to Sony Music and we expect really big things from him. You can catch Tim Chadwick at Sea Sessions June 21st - June 23rd Lost in Music with Louise Duffy Weeknights 7pm Always Supporting Irish The loveliest of folk x https://t.co/ZGX7sHKjiU — Tim Chadwick (@timtimyall) May 15, 2019
'I've not met Sam Smith, but I've got his number' Sam Fender chatting about messaging Sam Smith for tips to keep his voice in top condition. Sam was over in Ireland and dropped in to say hi to Louise Duffy, have a listen to the chat above and to his session which he recorded for us in late 2018. Including how he would love to work with Kendrick Lamar at some stage. Sam is so humble and we love his tunes on Lost in Music. He is playing Electric Picnic in September and is well worth seeing. We were delighted to welcome Alice Merton In Session on Lost in Music this week. Alice spoke to us just before her Olympia show in Dublin - we heard all about her roots (or what she would consider lack thereof) which served as the inspiration behind the song we know and love: No Roots. Having started her career as a songwriter for major label artists, Merton wasn't a fan of how these labels operated so she decided to do what a lot of dream about - she started her own record label in Berlin. Hear all about it during her chat with us which is followed by a stunning acoustic performance of the song we've been playing for two years now - No Roots. Lost in Music with Louise Duffy, weeknights, 7pm.

Johnny Borrell's Razorlight are back with a new album, tour and perspective on the era that was the 00s.  Think about it, there was no social media, no instagram, no twitter, no instant reactions. Johnny and David chat with Ed Smith about the era just prior to the social media revolution and how it was perhaps easier to make music, certainly easier to avoid distractions.  Johnny talks about playing guitar 10 hours a day with the band, hanging out in Camden and recording demos one week, then appearing on Top of the Pops the next.  In the interview Ed references the Adam and Joe from XFM in the UK. If you want to have a listen to their podcasts from back in the day, here you go - The Adam and Joe Show Podcast Click Above for the full session including America and Carry Yourself from the new album 'Olympus Sleeping' and the full interview. (We had to edit some for on air but on line you get the full shebang!)  Lost in Music with Ed Smith Weeknights 7pm
Leon Bridges plays two gigs in Dublin's Olympia Theatre this week, Ed Smith caught up with him at his hotel ahead of both shows.  Leon is a stand out artist with two majorly successful albums under his belt, 2015 'Coming Home' and this years 'Good Thing'. Elderbrook, aka Alexander Kotz is in Ireland tonight to play The Academy Dublin. He is the voice behind the grammy nominated 'Cola' with duo Camelphat.  Have a listen to our favourite rework of the track. It is made even better by Mousse T's big beats.   Elderbrook has released 2 summer bangers Capricorn & Sleepwalking, both heavily featured on Lost in Music. He will have an EP out before the end of the year and we can expect an album in 2019.  Capricorn is one of those earworms that you never get tired of.   Alexander came into Marconi House ahead of his gig in The Academy and chatted with Ed Smith about his journey from being an indie, hip hop and folk artist to being one of the most exciting dance music artist around. You can listen to this interview by clicking the link above.    We have @_elderbrook in with us for a chat on Lost In Music after 7. We had a special visitor on Lost in Music, Editors front man Tom Smith popped in to have a quick chat ahead of his live show in Vicar Street.  Ed and Tom chatted all things music making and Ed explained what Tom's name in Irish would be Tomas Mac Gabhann. Listen to the awkward moment when Tom revealed he is an Arsenal fan whilst Ed explained he is a Tottenham Hotspur fan! Plus did you know 'Munich' was written during the week between Christmas and New Year, whilst the band had what you might call 'The Fear'!  Click above to have a listen to their chat. Lost in Music with Ed Smith Weeknights 7pm Watch their brand new video here;
Curtis Walsh was our Play Irish Artist of the week in September and we had to nab him for a Session. Have a listen by clicking the link above to his track 'Full Recovery' recorded in studio here in Marconi House, thanks to our Gavin Blake on sound.  Here's the skinny on the rising star.  Curtis Walsh is already impressive and he has only just begun! The IMRO 2017 Christie Hennessy Songwriting Competition winner has been supporting The Academic, Lany and Tom Walker in recent months.    In fact, he has spent the past year gigging, with full audiences and an avid fan base, Curtis released 'Full Recovery' earlier in the summer. The song has been streamed 614,000 times which is pretty spectacular.  'Full Recovery' was written to help someone who Curtis was seeing through a hard time. "I wrote 'Full Recovery' to try to change the mind frame of the person I was seeing so she would realise no matter how bad the situation is, that with a bit of patience and trust, everything will eventually be okay."         This fella is in #PlayIrish Session tonight with @edsongsofpraise @CWalshMusic is one to watch Lost in Music Weeknights 7pm pic.twitter.com/fIaFnfeN5D — Today FM (@TodayFM) October 16, 2018

His music comes at a time when the charts are filled with sweet pop and love songs, Sam Fender is writing lyrics that speak out about mental health for men. It is refreshing to hear a new artist write about what is real for them in their World.  Sam was in Ireland to appear at Other Voices Ballina, so he nipped into Marconi House to record especially for Lost in Music.  The video is powerful stuff.  Keep your ear out for this young man, he is a future star.  Lost in Music with Ed Smith Weeknights 7pm.

Ed Smith met up with show faves Wolf Alice at Electric Picnic. You can hear their chat here.  Also remember when the came in to record a session for Lost in Music? Simply stunning. Lost in Music Weeknights 7PM
We simply adore this track. Wrap your ears around Aaron Smyths vocals on Second Moon recorded especially for Lost in Music with Ed Smith.  Aaron has been making lots of gorgeous music of late and we had to invite him in for the session. Dare we say there is something of the Thom Yorke crossed with Nick Drake about his voice. So Good! Catch Play Irish Artists every Tuesday on Lost in Music.
