‘Hurt people hurt people’ is often true, but not always...Sometimes, hurt people don’t hurt other people.And sometimes, people who haven’t been hurt hurt other people.Why does it matter?It actually matters significantly with how we show up in human relationships and how we approach and respond to harmful, abusive behavior - both in ourselves and in others.I believe understanding the nuance around this and transcending black and white thinking will be key as we co-create and step into the new paradigm of relationships.There are some things I’ve learned along the way in 15 years of assisting people therapeutically and also my personal life, and some of those things blew the lid off of some assumptions I was making about humanity and what true love and care is, what true ‘helping’ is. In this episode, I speak on the concept of ‘separate, purify, and unite’ in alchemy and how this applies to our inner union process, the process of outer union (especially in romantic relationships), and more importantly, how this applies to the bigger interplay between healing the relationship between men + women.On a basic level, we need to keep the polarities separate in order to purify them deeply, and then use the purified versions for union. I cannot believe this is my first full episode about breathwork!  This practice has completely changed my life, and has healed things that years of therapy were not able to fully heal.  Seven years in, I'm still going strong.I have seen this CUT THE WORK IN HALF (if not much faster) with the individuals and groups that I work with.I am so grateful to my teacher David Elliott.We are living in urgent times, and don't have years to waste anymore.  I believe that breathwork is a vital practice - it brings us to the heart of the matter.The type of breathwork that I teach is a longer style done lying down. What a fun episode all about relationship astrology!  Sarah Norris is a spiritual coach with a heart centred, holistic approach. I loved this conversation with Sophie + Yerasimos about their relationship of almost 10 years.  They are both deeply dedicated to inner work and growth, which really shows in the marriage they've created.  We speak about how important it was for them to build a strong foundation of friendship first, which allowed them to get to know each other in a way that looks very different from the typical process of dating.  We also discussed how they get through conflict in a healthy way, the importance of not sweeping things under the rug, and elevating each other towards their highest selves. Understanding basic relationship psychology, attachment styles, and parts work are key for these two; in addition to understanding the nervous system and human design.Personal responsibility is a huge value for these two, and it really shows!  I have seen this to be such a key value in healthy relationships, when both people are able to take ownership for their stuff, to apologize and repair.
