A frantic 911 call, a baby in the backseat, and a story that didn’t add up.When police in Ormond Beach, Florida arrived, 18-month-old Sebastian Gardner was already gone. When a scuba diver unzipped a duffel bag at the bottom of a quiet Ohio quarry, he expected lost gear, not what spilled out next. Inside were towels, rocks… and the body of a newborn baby boy. The community called him Baby Boy Hope, vowing to find the monster who had done it.But the truth, when it finally came six years later, stunned everyone. The killer wasn’t a stranger ... it was a girl they once cheered for at Friday night games. A girl who’d been hiding a secret so heavy, it eventually sank her entire life to the bottom of that quarry.Listen to the case of Jessica Coleman, Thomas Truelson Jr., and Baby Boy Hope.**************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you’d like to hear about? A 911 call from Merritt Island, Florida, revealed every parent’s nightmare — a two-month-old baby, cold and unresponsive in his bassinet. But what started as a mysterious infant death soon pointed to something far darker. As investigators pieced together text messages between the parents, Belle and Donovan Winter, medical reports, and interviews, the story that emerged would expose exhaustion, anger, and fatal neglect behind closed doors.Pictures available in the PatreonIf you suspect child abuse, call the Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-4-A-Child or 1-800-422-4453, or go to www.childhelp.org. When a Michigan father calmly told 911 that his baby was “dead as a doornail,” even the dispatcher couldn’t believe his tone. It started with a haunting 911 call — a Florida man sobbing, “I just shot my family… I love my family!”When deputies arrived, they found a scene that would stay with them forever: a mother and three young children murdered inside their Crestview home. Army veteran Jeffrey Hutchinson, claimed masked intruders had done it. When a panicked 911 call came from a quiet home in Colesville, New York, dispatchers could hear a mother’s desperate pleas, “please don’t die.” Moments later, the truth emerged, 28-year-old Patrick Proefriedt had fired a crossbow at his wife, Megan, as she held their three-week-old baby, Eleanor. What followed was a crime so cruel it stunned even veteran officers, and a courtroom hearing where a 22-minute 911 call revealed every agonizing second. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5. I love Ky!
To add to my last comment due to lack of space is that abuse of a child is considered a CIVIL matter which means that if you don't follow the process of making a police report, going to CPS, and then trying to get custody via a court, YOU will go to jail and be charged with kidnapping if you act on your own. And A LOT of states have laws that make it IMPOSSIBLE for family to do ANYTHING to try to save abused children. The whole process and laws need to be changed.
My opinion on the family thing, based on my OWN experiences as an abused child, is that laws on that need to change because in MANY states, there IS nothing the family can do besides call the cops or try to get custody because the way laws on custody are made is that it is ILLEGAL to just go in and take the child even if you know about the abuse. It is considered a CIVIL matter and the family member has to go through a process despite the fact that that process fails.
