Molly Pratt is now a graduate nurse at the very same hospital that diagnosed and treated her cancer in 2014 when she was just 16 years old. Pratt underwent three rounds of chemotherapy, relapsed twice, and had a bone marrow transplant. Halfway through her treatment in 2016 Pratt became so inspired by the nurses who cared for her that she decided to pursue a career as a nurse herself. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduated in 2022. In January of 2023, nine years after her initial diagnosis, Pratt can be found back at Beaumont as a graduate nurse, working her first day on the very same pediatric floor. Molly proves that some dreams find us, and that there is a silver lining in every cloud.

We sat down with Oncology Nurse Em to talk about her life as a nurse in such an emotionally charged and difficult speciality. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change. Emily. says, "I absolutely love what I do, you know, for all the reasons that people say oncology, nursing is hard are the very reasons I absolutely love it. My preceptor when I started, told me, 'You know, death for these patients is a total release of suffering. Cancer is one of those diseases that causes unimaginable suffering and a peaceful passing is a blessing.' So, ever since she told me that it kind of changed my perspective."

Chandler Rosemont The Traveling Nurse fractured her wrist when she was 16 years old while dancing. What should have been a fairly brief healing process quickly turned into excruciating pain for Chandler and a battle to get her life back. She was diagnosed with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome and would be one of the worst cases the doctor had ever seen in his career. Little did Chandler know she would take this tragic diagnosis and turn it into a bright life of service, strength, empathy, and change for children everywhere. From Medical Missions, a Masters in Public Health, and sitting on the board of Unicefnextgen Chandler proves that we are more powerful than we ever even realize; and sometimes by turning lemons into lemonade we sweeten the whole world.
