Description
This is a rock climbing podcast co-hosted by Snook and Kane. We'll be discussing various topics relating to climbing from travel destinations to training methods. Kane is a science nerd, professional physiologist, gym owner and climbing coach. Snook is just another dude at the crag excessively yelling "Allez" and always getting scared climbing above the bolt. But we love climbing more than anything and we love talking about it. Mediocrasend is a punny title combining two words together; Mediocracy and Send.

Work on your weakness may be one of the most popular climbing coach suggestions. Maybe we wouldn't need a better proof than Ozzy Auswin, a young Thai climbing athlete who takes this advice to heart and is now the best climber in Thailand. In January, 2022, he became the first Thai national to send Greed 8C, a classic sport climb test piece in Tonsai and is also the youngest person to ever do so. He constantly tries to find his weakness in climbing and relentlessly works on defeating them. His age, 10inch+ ape index and lean body may deceive you into thinking that he's a great climber because of all those inherent advantages. However, this episode will show you that it's all hard work and mindset that make Ozzy an extraordinary climber.
This episode discusses the most pressing issue facing rock climbing in Thailand, which is the lack of legal access and management. Technically, there's no law governing rock climbing in the country. Although climbing has been tolerated as a economic driver by authorities in certain parts of the country, several climbing areas have been ordered to close due to the lack of management model. Thailand Mountain Sports Club is attempting to formalize its existence to gain advocacy power to protect climbing areas and to reopen closed areas. However, the issue is quite sensitive in Thailand and even more so obscure. The club launched a survey in August 2021 to gauge the local community's perception regarding access and climbing area management. This episode will focus on the key findings from the survey and what the data tells us.
