MOSAiC Mixdown: mini-podcasts from the Arctic

Taking you out to the middle of the Arctic Ocean, where the MOSAiC expedition aims to revolutionise Arctic climate science. Each short episode begins with a single question. The answer weaves between the voices of scientists on board. Recording, production and music by Sam Cornish, a PhD student at the University of Oxford. This is a MOSAiC School outreach project, supported by IASC, MOSAiC, AWI, ARICE and APECS.

Why is the multidisciplinary aspect important?

The M in the MOSAiC acronym stands for multidisciplinary, but why is there such an emphasis on this expedition being multidisciplinary? In this episode we take a look at some of the specific science questions that benefit from a multidisciplinary approach.

Is everything going to go to plan?

MOSAiC has been years in the planning. But do the scientists involved expect it to go to plan? I asked participants of Leg 1 of the expedition, and their words serve as fascinating context for the changes since then. At the end I give an update on how plans have been remade due to Coronavirus. You can keep up to date with the MOSAiC expedition on this live web app: https://follow.mosaic-expedition.org/ and find stories from across the media on the MOSAiC website: https://mosaic-expedition.org...
