New episode of the Insanity Check with the host of the Unanimous Decision, Dpalm. We start the show with talking about how things in UNC are going as well as everyone (with a brain) expected with Bill Belichick. Also why has sports commentary become so terrible? And Kriss once again complains about how much we've just allowed gambling to take over sports.
Other topics:
Peter Thiel is absolutely insane
OpenA.I is burning down the planet for A.I. memes and empty promises
Also...apologies to Toby Keith (you'll understand at the end).

We're back with another Insanity Check. It's getting to the point where these episodes are more like weekly therapy sessions so we can try to make it through all the horrible shit that's coming up in the week. Kriss is joined by Ro this time and we're talking through some of the connective threads through all the things we're dealing with.
The ability to see connections and understand the impacts of multiple things at a time is something we've seen really decline. And part of that is due to how some of the things we grew up doing either no longer happen or are much harder to get. It also doesn't help that parents have a much harder time being able to help supplement their child's learning because they're being overworked and have less free time
We also talk about how the US stock market is held up by the same 7 companies, all off them responsible for shoving A.I. down our throats. And they're doing it while packing environmentally unfriendly data centers in populated areas. Also...they told us that A.I. would take the boring jobs and leave humans to do more Arts & Humanities. So why are we talking about A.I. actors now?
Full video on the expansion of Data Centers in residential areas.
One note, turns out Ro & I were talking about two different A.I. cases around A.I companies stealing copyright content. Fun times when it's so many...you lose track.

One of the smartest things I did this year was give this film a 2nd chance viewing. Initially, I didn't give Good Boy the attention it deserved but saw other critics raving about how good it was. I went back in for round 2 and was knocked off my feet. Indy (the dog) carries this film with an adorable, heartwarming while terrifying performance. I just to wanted to reach through the screen and save Indy from all the bad things and you will too!
Check out our review to get all the deets about Indy and what made make their film and the performances so endearing.

Kriss is joined by Karen from the Black Guy Who Tips.
A good portion of the show we end up talking about the beginning of the discussion between Ezra Klein and Ta-Nehisi Coates on Ezra's podcast. It's a good (if not sometimes frustrating) discussion between the two in which it becomes clear that Klein, is so focused on not losing that it's a set up to not win. Coates challenges (with no real good explanations from Klein) on how to rationalize wanting the left to "learn from" the right in such a short term viewpoint. He brings up the fact that the claim of the "increase in political violence" downplays the political violence experienced by so many marginalized groups for decades. And while Coates doesn't directly say it, we talk about how insulting it is to claim that the Right constantly engages with those that disagree with them while ignoring all the work and engagement that black and brown writers/activists and others do on the left.
The whole conversation is both enlightening as well as frustrating because it illustrates just how cowardly so many on the left are and how easily they are willing to throw the less fortunate out if it means scoring political points.

Kriss is back with another episode of the Insanity Check after some time off. This week he's joined by Brandon (PhenomBlak) to talk about all the craziness that's unfolded the last few weeks.
One thing that's becoming more clear is that this country is being led by people who don't know what they're doing. And we're not just talking about the Government and the Trump administration. Corporate America is showing not only their cowardice but also that they really have no idea what they're actually doing.
No Mark, I will not buy your stupid smart glasses.

HIM is a film with messaging about Fanship vs Worship, the sacrifice of Mind, Body, and Soul for sports, and cognitive disassociation that comes with being an pro-athlete and more specifically one committed to the brutalities of American Football. But does it stick the landing with all this messaging? All the praise to Kira Kelly for these visuals!
Check out our review to find out.

The Long Walk is one of the better ensemble castings this year, with deep rooted character development amongst a group of mostly charming young men who have felt the need to make the ultimate sacrifice. It fits right in line with how King's tales delicately handle camaraderie in dystopian dramas where people are subjected to horrific outcomes while striving for new hope.
Check our our review to hear while Brandon can't wait to experience this beautifully tragic film again.
