It's the end of the year, and you know what that means, best of lists! That's right, Lowell and Matt are wrapping up 2025 by selecting their Top 5 of the year, but they aren't doing it alone! Joined for this episode are a few of the staff at Macabre Daily to share their picks alongside Lowell and Matt!
We get picks from Sean O'Connor, Brian Finnerty, Ryan Fitzmartin, and Steven Thomas, all of whom bring their own unique flavor and preferences to their picks. We hope you enjoy hearing everyone's picks, and thank you to everyone who tuned in, shared, and gave us feedback on the podcast. We are looking forward to 2026 and all that scary things that it has in store!
In this special episode of the Macabre Daily Podcast, Matt has a conversation with Author Grady Hendrix about Clive Barker's "The Books of Blood" volumes 1-3. Grady is a man who needs little introduction, but we're gonna give him one anyway!
Grady Hendrix is the author of some of the most original horror novels of the 21st century including "Horrorstör," "My Best Friend's Exorcism," "The Final Girl Support Group," "Witchcraft for Wayward Girls," and "How To Sell A Haunted House." Hendrix also writes non-fiction, and has written volumes on genre films and media by way of "Paperbacks from Hell" and "These Fists Break Bricks." He's a former journalist who also co-founded The New York Asian Film Festival, and was tapped by Berkley to craft a new afterword for their re-release of Barker's "Books of Blood Vol 1-3."
We discuss the lasting impact of Barker's work, what makes him so unequaled, and the inspiration he's had on the world of genre!
After a much needed hiatus, the Macabre Daily Podcast is back and this time Matt is riding solo on hosting duties and filmmaker Eric England joins to talk about the traits of great slashers!
Eric is the creative behind films such as "Hostile Encounters," "Madison County," "Contracted," and "Josie" to name a few. Eric and Matt debate what goes into making a great slasher film, and more into Eric's career in genre and how it was cultivating a taste for cult cinema in Arkansas!
For a very special scary season episode of Macabre Daily Podcast, we decided to do it irl! That's right, our good friends over at The Twisted Spine in Brookyln, NY allowed us to take over the store for the night so we could record in person. Lowell and Matt were joined by colleague Brian Finnerty as they talked about what everyone's been reading, watching, and most importantly, what scares us!
Thank you to those of you in attendance for the support, and make sure if you're in NYC you check out the only Horror and Dark Literature bookstore in all the boroughs. Happy Halloween from all of us to you and yours.
It's scary season here at the Macabre Daily Podcast, and that means we are celebrating the same way we do all year round, by talking about great horror content with amazing horror creators! This month, Lowell and Matt are joined by none other than Ted Raimi and returning guest, Ryan Samuel Carr, to talk about their new story in the upcoming issue of "CREEPSHOW Vol.4 #2."
Ted Raimi is an actor, writer, director, and producer who has appeared in over 100 films including "Evil Dead 2," "The Spider-Man Trilogy," "Intruder," and so much more. Ted collaborated with writer Thomas Krajewski on the story "Par for the Course."
Ryan Samuel Carr is an artist and illustrator who is the artist-in-residence at the George A. Romero Foundation and has contributed his artwork to publications like Fangoria, Rue Morgue, Storm King Comics, and more. Ryan was previously on our episode discussing the art he did for "The Amusement Park," and we are delighted to have them both on this episode!

Parsons who is the mind behind "Willy's Wonderland" and a whole host of horror comics from "Hatchet" to "Beast of Bower Boulevard." G.O. takes some time to talk about working with Nic Cage, adapting major horror franchises into comics, and our shared love of gaming!

It's that time of the month again! That's right, it's Macabre Daily Podcast episode day! For this episode, Lowell and Matt are joined by Author Don Campbell to talk about his recent supernatural novel, "Whispers in the Woods."
Don Campbell is a passionate storyteller with a love for weaving tales that linger in the mind long after the final page. His debut collection, Midnight Harvest, delves into the eerie and the unknown, blending vivid imagination with a deep love for the macabre. Based in Surrey England, Don draws inspiration from the world around him—whether it’s the quiet rustling of fields at night or the whispers of history’s forgotten corners. When he’s not writing, Don can often be found running, listening to Stephen king books, or doing his full time job as a school caretaker. Don invites readers to step into his world of shadows and suspense, where the familiar turns sinister, and every story promises a thrill.
