A/B mechanics are mechanics that require a separate subset of cards to work (such as madness requiring cards that make you discard). In this episode, I talk about how we design A/B mechanics, the challenges of making them, and the history of some famous A/B mechanics.
Back in 2018, we ran the Great Designer Search 3 (GDS3). Part of that event was a multiple-choice test many contestants took to qualify for the next part of the qualification. One question from that test, question number 28, proved to be controversial. The topic recently returned to social media, so I decided to record a podcast about it. I talk about the history of the GDSs, the reasons why there's a multiple-choice test, and get into the specifics of question 28.

In this podcast, I talk about the early design of Outlaws of Thunder Junction.
Before I get into Outlaws of Thunder Junction, I see if I can name every non-core expansion set in order with a bit of trivia about each one.
During my MagicCon: Chicago talk where I listed my top 20 mechanics of all time, I also showed a slide for my top 20 evergreen mechanics and said that one day, I'd do a podcast on it. Today is that day. This is part two of two.

man it's going to make me sound like an a-hole but when one of the people running the magic story podcast have no experience with magic until 6 months prior and the other a couple years kind of breaks my heart when there are sooooo many more podcasts and people that are passionate about this for decades it seems so odd to have someone with almost no experience to run it. I think they would be a great team member of maybe a cast of hosts while maybe having another player/lore lover that has a long history with the game
There's no such word as 'criterias'. 'Criteria' is the plural of 'criterion'. criterion: definition from Dictionary.com: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/criterion
This interview definitely didn't make me like mark heggen any more. seemed very insencere from start to finish giving the pr answers no different than Rasmussen. they truly saw a way to cut out the middle man and they had seen over the years the growing popularity of the alters scene
thought it was gonna be on mtga I take my comment back
m.e.t.a stands for most efficient tactics available
George lopez "what had happened was" every fucking time
can't wait for time spiral remastered
Aren't cruiseliners basically vacations where you go spend a ton of time in Caribbean countries but in no way spend any relevant amount of money in those countries? It's oppressive bussiness that exploits countries for their paradise while keeping as much money here as possible.
This podcast about changes the fundamental rules of EDH is a time when I've never disagreed with you more especially when speaking about hybrid mana. I understand you are the color pie guru but the rules commitee is allowed to make rules about what cards go into which decks. Counter to your statement, hybrid mana is actually VERY intuitive when it comes to Commander deckbuilding. Same goes for commander damage. Many times a combo deck couuld win without the use of commander but being able to win by killing someone with commander damage. Literally this whole podcast sounds like your platform to complain about a format you rarely play. As someone whose played EDH for years, I can tell you I'm glad you're not in charge of the rules.
but drive to work 173 was the podcast on white-blue
Also a bit of a pun with International NGO Development terminology
