We're already on the 7th chapter of our second Harry Potter book and we can't wait to talk about.... The Avengers? We may have made it through "Mudbloods and Murmurs" from the Chamber of Secrets but at this point we hadn't yet made it through 'Avengers: Endgame' so while we do go in depth about the chapter, Myke also can't help but be distracted. We've reached halfway into the Chamber of Secrets, the book, just as the Chamber of Secrets in the story is just opening. In the tenth chapter of the Chamber of Secrets the trio tricks Lockhart into letting them check out a book on magic drugs from the library, Harry pulls a Leo and breaks his arm, and we meet back up with an old friend! Of course we don't just talk about that as Game of Thrones just ended forever, we just saw an advanced screening of Booksmart, and Myke needs to bring up his own tales of breaking his arm again. It's a classic Magicless Myke. Night time addition. After the thrilling cliffhanger of Chapter 11 of 'The Chamber of Secrets' we jump into this chapter wondering how Harry is going to get out of THIS predicament -- only to be let down. But we get up again as the kids go on more fun, children's adventure hijinks like: drugging other kids, stealing identities, consorting with the wizard alt-right - and more! As July winds down so does our journey into The Chamber of Secrets with this week's climactic chapter 'The Heir of Slytherin'. Harry Potter is all alone now and entering the titular Chamber to save Ginny Weasley! We get into how crazy it is for a twelve year old boy to be in this situation, how dumb Tom Riddle seems to be about magic despite having conjured up a sick ploy, and our dog Crystal finally gets on the mic! We have wanted to get our guest for this episode from day 1, but she specifically requested to recap this chapter then proceeded to fly out to Southern California from Ohio to join us (it was actually just a vacation she was planning on taking that happened to work out for us too)! In this episode, we discuss the trio's discovery of Nicolas Flamel's identity, the Quidditch game between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, and Neville's character development.
