EPISODE 122: How to Live as a Purpose Driven Mom and Business Owner with Jennifer McDaniel

Are you ready to make a change in your life? Have you felt a nudge from God to follow a different path? Is there something deep inside your spirit that is telling you to take a risk, do something different, and follow your dream? A year from now would you live to be called a purpose-driven mom?! Listen to this episode to hear the inspirational story of how my guest, Jennifer McDaniel, took that risk, tried something different, followed God's path, and made her dream happen! Just a few years ago, Jennifer McDaniel was feeling overwhelmed by family health issues and the struggles of being a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids. She was burnt out from helping everyone and putting everyone else's needs first. She felt like her cup was empty and she had nothing left to give. She decided to put herself first and attended my 2019 Created Order Conference in Charlotte, NC. Getting there wasn't easy, but she knew God had a path for her so she made it happen. Often times right before you are ready to go to the next level, there will be obstacles to overcome. This is when you learn perseverance. As a mom, we often give into those obstacles or guilt but you have to take time for yourself to hear your inner voice to know where your path should take you. It is important to give yourself time, be calm, stop running, and listen. You don't have to have all the answers. You can figure it out as you go. Follow where you are guided and the answers will come. I know many of you want to live on purpose and are waiting for everything to be perfectly lined up and have all the answers. If you have a dream in your heart you need to give yourself permission to try, even if it's a little bit at a time. Surround yourself with women that are highly motivated, and encouraging and you will get there. Now that Jennifer McDaniel is a purpose-driven mom, she is no longer stuck in the daily mess. She is living intentionally with purpose and you can too!-------------------------Do you want to get your life organized so you can focus on living out your God-given purpose? Declutter Your Closet with the 27 Hanger Method

In this lively and insightful episode of The Make Room Show, Jennifer Ford Berry is joined by fashion expert Shari Braendel, author of "Help Me Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear" and founder of the "27 Hanger Closet" system. Together, they share expert tips on simplifying your wardrobe, finding clothes that make you feel confident, and why it’s essential to let go of clothing items that no longer serve you. Shari’s unique approach of limiting your wardrobe to 27 pieces offers a fresh take on capsule wardrobes, making room for the items you truly love while decluttering the rest. They also dive into color analysis, how to pick the best handbag, and Shari’s "game-changing" tip for jeans shopping.Key Learning Points:• 27 Hanger Closet: Simplify your wardrobe by curating 27 key pieces—6 bottoms, 12 tops, 4 layering pieces, and 3 special items—allowing easier outfit planning and less clutter.• Color Analysis: Wearing the right colors makes a significant impact on how you look and feel. Avoid black as it can make you look tired and older. Instead, pick 1-2 neutrals and a pop color that suits you.• Handbag Hack: Match your handbag color to your hair color for a versatile, go-to bag that coordinates with everything.• Seasonal Closet Swaps: Even in warmer climates like Florida, it’s beneficial to rotate your wardrobe seasonally to refresh your look and keep things current.• Cost Per Wear: Invest in high-quality pieces you’ll wear frequently rather than splurging on items for special occasions.• Jeans Shopping Hack: Measure the rise of your favorite jeans to find the perfect fit every time you shop.• Letting Go of Guilt: Release clothing that doesn’t fit, feel good, or serve your current style, even if it cost you a lot. Donate to shelters where your items can benefit others.• Trend Awareness: Staying in style doesn’t mean constantly buying new clothes; it’s about curating what works best for your body and lifestyle.• Seasonal Planning: Be strategic about shopping; know what you need and build your wardrobe intentionally.• The Emotional Closet: Clothes hold memories, but learning to detach and move on can bring freedom and space for new possibilities.--Free Denim Guide!: https://www.stylebycolor.com/denimShari Braendel, founder of Style by Color, inspires women to new levels of confidence through her digital products, style programs, and YouTube channel. As the author of *Help Me, Jesus, I Have Nothing to Wear*, and creator of the Color Code System and Closet Outfit Planner, Shari has been featured on ABC News, Focus on the Family, and More To Life Christian TV Network. She’s spoken at over 500 churches and women's conferences worldwide, drawing from her many years in the color analysis industry to challenge women's beliefs about themselves.Since 2010, Shari has certified over 400 women through the Style by Color Academy, providing comprehensive training for future Color Analysis specialists and Christian Image Consultants. She also founded the Women’s Matter Initiative, offering Color Confidence Workshops to nonprofits serving women coming out of distress and abuse. Here is Your Permission Slip!

In this raw and vulnerable episode of "The Make Room Show," I'm opening up about the reasons behind an unexpected six-week hiatus. I'm giving you insights on some personal struggles with burnout professionally, and a harrowing near-death experience that forced me to confront the unsustainable pace of my life and reevaluate my priorities. Instead of allowing myself to feel guilty for stepping back to care for myself, I gave myself a PERMISSION SLIP - to slow down, take necessary breaks, and focus on self-care. Real strength lies in recognizing one’s limits and taking steps to address them before reaching a crisis point - which I had to learn the hard way. My hope is that through being vulnerable and sharing this with you, I can inspire you to make similar choices towards a healthier, more balanced life. I'm taking the next couple of weeks to really dive deep into what all these recent events mean for me and my life. I'll be keeping you updated on this journey as things unfold because you, my dear listeners, truly deserve to hear this insight. I'm not entirely sure what's going to emerge from this period of reflection, but I feel it's going to be significant, different, and hopefully, a lot easier. During this time, you might notice that I'm not as active on social media, and the posts that do appear might be just simple snapshots of life with my family and friends. I'm stepping back from the constant hustle, the endless to-dos we all think we need to accomplish daily. It's become clear that this rat race isn't making us happier, and that needs to change. So, let's focus on what really matters—our happiness and well-being. Thank you for your understanding and support. I love you all so much. -- The Focus Retreat: Escape to tranquil Pleasant Hill, Kentucky for a unique opportunity to refine every aspect of your integrated life: Family, Organization, Confidence, yoU, and Systems. 141 | How Parents and Kids Can Prepare For College

Sending our kids off to college is not always easy.  It is hard to let our babies go!  But it is so powerful because it can really help your child grow into their best self.  Today is an episode I have wanted to do for a very long time!   My guest is one of my most favorite people on the planet...my daughter Randsley!  She is home from college for the holidays, and we are snowed in, so it is the perfect time to finally get her on the show to talk about her college experience thus far.  We are dishing all of the inside scoops from not only her perspective as a student but also my perspective as a parent. ------------------------- Show Notes Here Would you love to get your home and your life organized so that you can focus on living with purpose and intention?  If so, I want to coach YOU!   I have built an online community for women just like YOU called The Created Order Neighborhood. My newest book is out! Make Room: take control of your space, time, energy, and money to live on purpose. Love the show? I would LOVE it if you would let me know by hitting the subscribe button, leaving a review, or joining our email list!  Thank you so much for listening.
