Description
Making your way is a podcast created for you, where conversations focus on the heart and soul of being an artist, the stories that lead Makers to where they are today, their process, the things that bring them joy and the magic that is woven between their paint strokes, their stitches, their view through the camera lens or the layers of a sculpture.

I have a confession! I made a slip-up with my podcast host and all the previous episodes were deleted. Over the next few weeks I am re-sharing them as well as two more interviews with some incredible artists I had the pleasure of chatting to. This mini-episode is a little about me and where I plan to take this podcast and why.I hope 2022 is treating you well.Lucy
This episode has been re-released after a bit of a tech-glitch (totally my fault!) and it previously disappearing! I LOVED this chat with Tracey so much that there was no way it was just vanishing into the podcast ether.Tracey lives in South West London and her work is an explosion of colour texture and detail and with so much story telling woven into each scene and character that she creates. It doesn’t surprise me at all that Tracey herself is a natural story teller and so engaging to listen to and chat with. I recorded this interview with Tracey a couple of months ago when the weather was still a bit grey and dull here in the UK and after our call I felt truly lifted by her description of her work and the places she hopes to travel to. Tracey really embodies her work, while we were chatting (I record all of my podcasts via zoom), she was sat in the most wonderful room with her colourful, vibrant work around her and pieces of painted paper and brushes all around, I really felt like I was sat with her and sharing in a piece of her world. I hope you enjoy the conversation and that you can imagine joining us in that space to learn more about Tracey, her journey, her process and her work. This conversation was so ,much fun and so inspiring. You can follow Tracey on Instagram - @TraceyEnglish or check out her Etsy Shop HEREor find Tracey's website at www.tracey-english.co.ukAll images are copyright owned by Tracey English
Kirsty is an artist who creates sculptures made from driftwood and other treasures which she finds on her local beach in Cornwall. I was absolutely delighted when she agreed to be interviewed on the Making Your Way podcast ... In this episode I talk to Kirsty about her process, her journey and what brings her joy, and much more! When the very first idea for this podcast came to me I wrote a list of dream guests and Kirsty was at the very top, when she said Yes I was absolutely over the moon and it moved me forward from a place of feeling a bit uncertain about whether this was something I really could do, and it gave me the momentum to push forwards. Not only is her work clever, delightful and multi-layered but I am also obsessed with the very idea of her process. I love Cornwall, it’s such a magical, special place and the beaches there are undoubtedly some of the best in the world. My favourite thing to do whenever we visit this beautiful part of the world is to walk on the beaches with my family and whilst they splash around and explore the rock pools, I wander and search for pieces of sea glass. Kirsty’s process of what starts in the form of a treasure hunt, ie searching for pieces of driftwood and other interesting things that the sea gifts to the beach, combined with creating the unique sculptures that themselves represent the architecture and the atmosphere of Cornwall, is a magical combination.I also have a fascination for all things miniature and the little sculptures of houses and quaysides that Kirsty makes, as well as her sea creatures, boats and other delights are wonderful. If you haven’t seen her work, you must go and do some research and I promise you will not be disappointed, in fact, it will probably spark a new obsession! This conversation was so ,much fun and so inspiring. You can follow Kirsty on Instagram - @kirstyelson or check out her Etsy Shop HERE or find her on Facebook HERE All images copyright of Kirsty Elson
(Season One re-share) I am so excited to share this interview with you! This week I am sharing the conversation I had with artist, Ann Wood of Woodlucker. Woodlucker is a visual partnership and studio founded by Ann Wood and her husband, Dean Lucker. Ann spoke to me about her journey and her process and many other things besides and I have to say that despite already admiring Ann’s work I still learned so much more about her from this conversation. Ann creates the most intricately crafted paper flower sculptures, but I will let her tell you more about that as her love and passion for her subjects emanates from her every word and I couldn’t even begin to do it justice. You can follow Ann on Instagram - @Woodlucker or find the Woodlucker website at www.woodlucker.comAll images are copyright owned by Ann Wood/ Woodlucker I would absolutely love to hear from you, so head on over to my website and send me a message. This week, I am doing something a little different, so here is a mini-episode about creative inspiration and walking in nature. This is a theme that has so far been shared by all of the artists I have spoken to, this is their go-to source of inspiration and so it's something I wanted to delve into a little. Thanks for listening. Please don't forget to subscribe and review the podcast. Here is a link to the walking meditation I mentioned https://open.spotify.com/episode/2gsKjYu7gpzrKuPcazsaJ6?si=YWG8zICtQOGpfgIEkDWslw&dl_branch=1
In this episode, I am speaking to Artist Chloe Giordano. Chloe’s work is exquisitely detailed embroidery, that blends her skills as an illustrator with needle-art. If you haven’t seen her work, then do look her up, it will give you an understanding of the precision, charm and delicate nature of what she creates. Chloe’s work isn’t bound by any traditional rules of embroidery, instead, she works with a simple straight stitch but as you will know or see from looking at any of her finished artworks, they are far from simple in their intricacy, texture and detail. What a joy to talk to Chloe about so many different aspects of her life. I will include a link in the show notes to take you to her ‘Day in The Life’ Youtube video that we spoke about, below as it really does set the scene beautifully.I appreciate Chloe’s honestly when says she struggles in some ways with the digital side of things and yet at the same time can create something like this day in the life video that is so beautiful and so true to herself and really connects with her followers. It reminds me that sometimes we think we have to present a certain way on social media. We see other people doing it in their way and sometimes doubt ourselves as that isn’t our way at all, but we somehow feel there is a set of rules we have to follow. Thank you again Chloe for being so open and easy to talk to. I could have sat there for a very long time indeed and listened to you speak about your wonderful world. Chloe's website iswww.chloegiordano.comyou can find her on Instagram @chloegiordano_embroidery To see Chloe's Etsy shop, where you can purchase a beautiful print or greeting card, click HERE Other links mentioned in the podcast episode are A Day In The Life YouTube Video and Chloe's Domestika Course f you could rate and share the podcast it would mean such a lot to me and really help me to spread the word, so we can build a community of creative, kindred spirits just like us.

Flora's delicate, intricate illustrations are a reflection of her appreciation for the little things in life, as she explains in the conversation.I feel so blessed to get to have these conversations with artists like Flora who are so open and share their experiences. I feel like Flora really painted a picture of her world so beautifully with everything she spoke about. The second I finished talking to her I felt so inspired that I immediately went out for a walk near my home and I intentionally let my eye wander off to things that I might not usually look at. Some of the tiniest flowers in a hedgerow caught my eye, as well as the brilliant green colour of some under-ripe crab apples.I love how Flora is constantly inspired by all of the small things around her. To me this really shines through in her work. Each little things she paints is a delight and honestly I would love to spend some time seeing the world as Flora sees it.You can see more of Flora's work at her website www.florawaycott.com and you can follow her on instagram @florawaycottI would absolutely love to hear from you too, so head on over to my website www.make-inspire.com/podcast and send me a message.
