The Mamas in Music Podcast is hosted by Claire London in connection with the Mamas in Music Non-Profit Organization. Join our community here: mamasinmusic.org About Carolyn Ortiz: Carolyn Ortiz has been working in our beloved music industry for over 15 years. Carolyn started out as a self-taught publicist in the NYC blog era, specializing in emerging artists, brand partnerships, and curating live music events - while also working her corporate 9-5 job helping companies like Viacom and Chanel launch new departments and products. In 2015 she was hired by UMG to help launch the first global central brand partnership team at a major label, where she supported a team who began securing over $20 million a year in deals with brands like M&M, Marriott and American Airlines. During the great resignation in 2020, Carolyn decided to pivot back into entrepreneurship and in 2021, she partnered with her now co-founder to launch and expand Big.Ass.Kids from a record label into the full music ecosystem it is today. Last year, Carolyn spearheaded the launch of The B.A.K Play.Ground community platform where music artists, agencies, and labels can collaborate with and hire from a vetted pool of professionals. And most recently, Carolyn and her partner le’Roy Benros are launching a fundraiser entitled The BAK Sandbox, which is raising funds to support music professionals who have been impacted by the industry layoffs. A significant thread running through Carolyn’s career has been her commitment to developing and promoting emerging talent. She has been dedicated to cultivating both musical talents and budding professionals, having established several educational-based intern and mentorship programs. Through her work, Carolyn aspires to make a lasting impact on both the music industry and Music by: Tiff Randol --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/mamasinmusic/support
