Listen, what else was I supposed to call this episode, it fit with the double M's?  This week Katie recaps the Murdaugh Murders docuseries on Netflix with the updates that literally happened days ago in court on this one.  It is sordid, it is twisted, it has drugs, it has murder, and it's got the southern prominence and old money that usually keeps people out of court and trouble...but not this time.  If you're soaking up these true crime docs on streaming services like everyone else this will give a quick overview and sort out the time line!  And at the end of the day just be happy Katie did not do it in her terrible southern accent that she perfected in Tennessee.   Love ya guys!

This week Katie does a solo and feels like a lunatic talking to herself in a empty room about the murder of Mary Grubb just before Thanksgiving in 2020.  **Trigger warning DV**. Katie also starts a would you rather section?  Let us know which you'd rather do!?  DM us on IG @Maniacally Midwest! If you or someone you know is struggling with violence you can find help at CTSafeConnect.org or contact 888-774-2900,  24/7/365 We love you guys!!
If you're from Wisconsin you know and love the Pleasant Prairie Outlet Mall but here is a salacious case that goes from the late 90s and wraps up in the late 2000's until now, just recently the conviction of Mark Jensen has been overturned in the murder of his wife Julie Jensen.  This one is a roller coaster of rulings that finally led up to a from the grave letter pointing to the guilty verdict of Mark until recently.  You'll also get the deets on Katie's employment history and find out about her dad's deep love of lists. We love ya guys!
Listen Chloe is apparently drawn deep inside her soul to Lake Orion Michigan as she has brought us back here again.  But this time we're not on the set of the reality talk tv shows.  This time we're looking at a Rental company owner and his amicable treatment of his ex wife.  And how the cruelest most unthinkable actions can come from the most unlikely sources.  Side note, maybe if you are a friggin murderer and you have your girlfriend be your alibi, you should probably be super nice....just a thought.  Actually scratch that, be a jerk and that way you don't get away with killing people  Love ya guys!

Strap your butts on folks, this one is a long one, but there was zero way to not have this be longer, the Rhoden family had eight victims in this crime coined the Piketon Massacre, which is probably THE most notorious mass murder in Ohio's history.  Katie uncovers the ridiculous motive the family that took part in this crime had for such a large scale, horrifying scene.  Sprinkle in some police misconduct that is uncovered a long the way and there is so much thread to keep pulling at with this one!  PSA, do not steal, but definitely don't do it for a Nissan Versa.  Love ya guys!

This week Chloe covers the Michigan Murders, a gross loser who terrorized the area of Ypsilanti in the 60's.  The wild way he was eventually caught, especially considering DNA wasn't an option yet during this time and the close call he had getting caught once before his eventual capture.  You get to hear commentary from the two bebe's bc unfortunately everyone has been wilding out this week.  Seriously though, we love you guys and even though there wasn't always a way to edit around the fussing, we love getting the stories out to you.  So send good vibes for nap times being respected by the two savages going forward! :) Love ya!

This week we are covering Steven Zelich, aka mrhandcuffs, this is a listener request brought to us by Jozie.  We dive into his crappy past and the red flags that led up to the horrendous acts committed against his two victims and how our perception of people interests or jobs can lead the public perception into falsely believing people somehow played their own hand in their fate.  As Jeffrey Dahmer in the past proved to us that Stallis isn't only the joyous land of cheese curds and creme puffs, Steven Zelich proved that no matter how okay on the outside something looks there can be disgusting horrible just under the surface! Love ya guys

Honestly, I'm not even sure what to say this guys name was because he had more names than I can remember....and the only thing he had more than names was wives.  Homeboy clearly would have been buying what Sister Wives was selling because while he was only convicted of one murder he more than likely had around 50.  You can hear about his weird list of rules for entrapping women, which is both offensive, and shockingly probably not that wrong.  This freak was pulling his crap all over the country before it finally caught up with him.  Finally what ended up getting this turkey butthole caught is that preserving bodies changed and his murder could no longer be hidden.  Chloe is finally welcomed into the Sconnie Club as her daughter hits a HUGE milestone.  We break shocking Rocky news as well as talk Rocky's nails and bathing routine.  Until next week, you Maniacs!  We love ya!

Join us this week as Katie's husband becomes an unwilling participant in the podcast.  It took hours of editing out sighs of annoyance, but here it is after popular demand!   We took a turn off the beaten path of true crime and we go over some of the folklore tales of Bosnia,  Mirza spot checks pronunciation and is as shocked as Katie was by some of these.  We cover snakes that sneak into your mouth while you sleep, how to escape a pissed off ex-girlfriend from tormenting, and also how to identify a witch.  But really the crown jewel, and I have to believe an article at some point in the National Enquirer, is the life cycle of a dragon and woman who claims to have given birth to one, and even had a neighbor fact check it and confirm.   And just in case your like "Whoa, what's going on in Bosnia?"  Katie's been, and says its sooo gorgeous, the food is great and the people are friendly, so basically the midwest of Europe, also they make some amazing Rakija (fruit brandy) so assuming they'd love a good old fashioned just like the lovely Sconnies do!  10/10 would definitely recommend you make a trip there! Love ya guys!

Join us this week as Chloe has found yet another scandalous murder involving an heiress.  We look into Indiana grocer tycoon's success story and also the sad twists the family lived through before the tragic end that Marjorie Jackson saw.  We ask ourselves questions we never imagined, like what would one serve if Jesus was invited to dinner, would we snatch a brick of drugs, and where should we hide cash?  We get into a heated debate over basketball and state our arguments having zero background or legitimate facts to back up said stance.  Enjoy! Love ya guys!!
Join us this week as Katie covers the unsettling murders of Nick Brady and Halie Kifer.  We talk about the self defense argument and why that didn't work for Byron Smith.  Katie also reveals how she has managed to force therapists out of their field by freaking them out and she gives a little taste of an unreleased episode.  Let us know if you want to hear it!  Comment on our IG or email us at maniacallymidwest@gmail.com Love you guys!

Join us this week as we cover the Kunz family murders.  We uncover their dark familial history decades prior to the vicious slaughter of the family where they began in Manitowoc which has been in the national spotlight somewhat recently from Making a Murderer as well as the gem of Wisconsin, Charlie Behrens.  We also give pointers on where to find Shayne Jansen of Love is Blind (hint: it will definitely be a supper club).  And for this weeks deep talks we discuss BSB vs N'SYNC.  Let us know where you fall on IG @maniacallymidwest or email us at maniacallymidwest@gmail.com As always, we love ya guys!

Join us this week as Chloe covers the case of Thomas Dillon, aka the Roadside Sniper.  This guy was a big weirdo.  And as these random killings amp up and finally authorities are tipped off to him it gets even weirder, he keeps journals about his "conquests".  Finally the punishment is one that utilizes Katie's favorite thing, mind games and sending the criminals exactly where they don't want to be.  And finally weigh in on if looking like a person who likes raisins is an insult or compliment, we need to know.

This week is wild who would have thought that a murder in a tiny Cedar Rapids Iowa suburb would even happen, let alone that the KKK or bootlegging could have possibly the reason for her murder.  The case of Myrtle Cook is truly a set of unusual circumstances that is still unsolved to this day.  And today we pose the important question bar of soap, how do you use it?   Love you guys!

Join us this week as Chloe brings us back to her old stomping grounds and we visit the gnarly murders committed by Carol Giles and Tim Collier.  We're talking health issues, infidelity, novels, VCRs and battery acid... The murders are completely senseless and gruesome in nature and really leave everyone saying wtf.  We've left in for your entertainment the joys of summertime as Katie jumps out of her own skin as her daughter tickles her side midway through the case.  We also dive in deep about the things we really need to know, like does your celebrity crush resemble your significant other?  As always email us at maniacallymidwest@gmail.com, comment on our IG and don't forget to visit our new YouTube and like and subscribe those videos! Love ya guys!
Midwest-ish

Katie took creative liberty after finding an intriguing case of illness left untreated, Tiffany stained glass, obsession with grass and horn rimmed glasses.  While the case starts in the Midwest that's not where it ends, and she couldn't pass up a chance to present this one.  John List is probably one of the most wild crazy cases we've covered yet, especially how he wound up being caught. Chloe tells us to not do anything until Mercury is out of retrograde, we reflect on how Chris Distefano is Katie, and we reflect on how the jurors are really toying with our emotions in dragging out the verdict in the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial...of course now that is outdated!   As always go over to our IG or send us an email if you've got a case we need to share or if you've got a topic we need to debate for you at maniacallymidwest@gmail.com or check us out on our new YouTube channel!
