Today you’ll be listening to new series I’ve started on my YouTube channel entitled, “Church Horror Stories”. This has a different energy than the previous episodes that have been uploaded on this podcast; however, I want to explain this new way of sharing my truth and my authenticity—through YouTube. Not every podcast episode will be that weeks YouTube video, but for this moment in time I want to shed some light on the false beliefs taught to women in the church and Religious Trauma Syndrome. In today’s episode you’ll hear the first video to a new series entitled, “Church Horror Stories”. I’m going to start by talking about my own personal experiences and I’m inviting you to send me your stories as well so I can bring light to your situation, experience or just plain horror story.  And I also know that sometimes writing these things down can also be extremely healing and therapeutic for you personally.   The reasoning behind this new segment can be explained simply——if you’ve been hurt, shamed or condemned by ‘The Church’, I’m sorry. You shouldn’t have EVER felt that way! I’m here for you and I want to tell your {horror}story, situation or encounter. I want this new segment on my channel to be a way for you to feel safe and heard especially when it comes to ‘The Church’.  This isn’t a space to cast blame, make fun of or point fingers at—we’re not about that here; however, we ARE here for shining light on topics and situations that aren’t talked about because we were made to believe it was our fault, something was wrong with us, we caused this upon ourselves, we felt shameful or guilty, we were convinced we were condemned or not good enough or we were just extremely hurt by the ones around us that it caused disbelief that what was happening was truly happening. Christian women, like myself, weren’t taught that we GET and DESERVE to have genuine love for our bodies! We’ve been taught that, “Modest is hottest”— so hide every feminine part of your body with nothing showing, because everything else is shameful. In the church we weren’t raised to love, respect and feel of worth in our bodies. We were taught to cover up, “conceal don’t feel”, mask and feel shameful. Hello to some of my favorite people!❤️ Today’s episode is all up in the feels of the before jitters going to my first retreat and all in the feels AFTER the retreat! Let me tell you sis, if you’ve been the type of girl to be closed off to making friends (but you still want friends hah), you feel uncomfortable hanging out in groups with other women or you refuse a “girls night”...you need to listen to this podcast! I go in DEEP of how I was feeling on my way to this retreat, and let me tell you......I was shaking I was so nervous!  The before nerves were ALL worth the energetic shifts, lifelong relationships and vulnerable conversations had at this retreat! Before you hit play, I want to thank you in advance for being patient with the quality....I recorded both the before and after on my phone, which I knew wouldn’t be “audio sufficient”, but I needed to get my thoughts and emotions out there ASAP!❤️ This weekend healed a lot of wounds when it came to allowing other girls into my vulnerable mental space having no fear of judgment or condemnation, so I know this episode will help other women like me!
