Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha Avahana mantras begin with “Om Gam Ganapataye Namah” and are invocation mantras. Avahana mantras are used to invoke certain aspects of God before doing something. Avahana is, for example, an important part of puja, the Hindu ritual of worshiping gods, or religious rituals in general. However, Avahana mantras are also part of everything one can do in yoga. And it is good practice to invoke divine energy before starting anything. “Sarva Mangala Mangalye” actually belongs to the Devi Mahatmyam; it is a mantra from the eleventh chapter of the Devi Mahatmyam, tenth verse. This eleventh chapter is also known as Narayani Stotra because it contains many mantras that end with “Narayani Namostute.” One of these, and the best known, is “Sarva Mangala Mangalye.” It is also a Mangala Charana Mantra. Mangala means blessing, happiness, all that is auspicious. Charana also means wish. Thus, it is a mantra of blessing, a mantra of intercession, a mantra of goodwill. In yoga, everything you do is concluded with wishes for the well-being of all beings. This can be as simple as chanting “Shanti” three times. Shanti means peace, peace for everyone in this world. You can do it by chanting “Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu,” you can do it by repeating “Sarvesham Svasti Bhavatu” or “Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye.” The text: Om Sarva-mangala-mangalye Shive Sarvartha-sadhike / Sharanye Tryambake Gauri Narayani Namostu Te // Spiritual translation Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye Worship of the three-eyed mother Narayani. She brings happiness and fulfills all the seeker's wishes (both material and spiritual). In this powerful recording from the kirtan during a satsang at Yoga Vidya yoga-vidya.de in Bad Meinberg, Germany, Shankara S. shankarayoga.de leads us with his singing into the depths of one of the most important Vedic mantras: “Om Purnam Adah Purnam Idam” – a Vedic peace mantra from the Isha Upanishad. The kirtan begins calmly and solemnly, with a gentle musical introduction that creates space for inner arrival. Shankara's voice carries the mantra with depth and devotion, accompanied by harmonium, drums, and delicate percussion sounds that slowly unfold and grow into a meditative dynamic. "Om Purnam Adah Purnam Idam Purnat Purnam Udachyate Purnasya Purnam Adaya Purnam Eva Avashishyate" Translated, it means: "Perfect is the One, perfect is that which arises from it. If you take the perfect from the perfect, only the perfect remains." This mantra reminds us of the wholeness and completeness of all being—that nothing is missing and everything that arises is already part of the whole. A deeply spiritual message that is not only audible but also palpable in this recording.
