Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior perpetrated by an intimate partner against another. It is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, race, religion, nationality or educational background. Violence against women is often accompanied by emotionally abusive and controlling behavior, and thus is part of a systematic pattern of dominance and control. Domestic violence results in physical injury, psychological trauma, and sometimes death. The consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and truly last a lifetime. (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence)
A staggering one out of four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime - An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner, each year - ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
On this episode, I will be speaking with Tiffany Johnson, author of Enough is Enough and an advocate for Domestic Violence Awareness. She is a survivor! Facing a near death experience at the hand of her abuser, in front of her 3-year old son, she vowed to speak out helping others to break free from the cycle of abuse.

Oftentimes, we do not take into account what goes on in the lives of those who are top-liners in the media, or their families. We spend time wondering what goes on behind closed doors...or if they are the same on and off the stage. Well, this episode I am going to speak with Elizabeth Isley-Barkley, daughter of Rudolph Isley of the infamous Isley Brothers. She has written a book that speaks to the fans. Beth, as she is fondly called, gives the readers a bird's eye view from her perspective. Tune in to listen to her speak, candidly, to the fans.
There are so many opportunities for us to lose sight of what is most important. We are faced with trials and tests that come to knock us off kilter and redirect our focus. We are assured that as we keep our minds on the Almighty, He will keep our minds in perfect peace.
Our families, friends and ministry are avenues used to complete our mission on earth. We are all born with a purpose that is fulfilled in our every day living. As we remain intuned with our calling, no matter how it manifests itself, we will experience His peace.
This month, on Matters of the Soul, we will focus on the things that way heavily on the mind - those things that blur our vision from the tasks at hand.

The scars of abuse are long lasting, especially when inflicted in our formative years. Soul wounds are injuries to the soul that emotionally cripple and disable their victims. They are made of entrenched limiting beliefs about ourselves which adversely affect our relationships, on all levels. Today, my special guest Yvonne Pierre and myself will discuss the long-lasting effects abuse can have on the psyche of the victim. Yvonne is the author of The Day My Soul Cried, which speaks about the moment her abusive past clashed with the present. You will not want to miss this episode because soul wounds need to be healed in order to live your life to the fullest.

Has anyone ever asked you how you were doing and your reply was, 'fine' and you were less than fine? We quarter off our responses to questions, based on our assumptions of whether the person really wants to hear the answer. We do this with God, and wonder why we are not getting the results we so desperately need to our most pressing issues.
Today, we are going to delve into speaking the truth about our situations and answering, fully, the questions that God asks us. We want to be free, let's tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth; because the Truth is what makes us free.
Too often we hold on to things, from our pasts, that are best laid to rest. We have situations, memories and people that have outlived their usefulness, as it pertains to our spiritual growth. We may feel it to be of the utmost importance to hold onto it, allowing it to marinate and become stronger; yet God is asking, "Will you break the box and offer up its contents to me?"
Today, we are going to discuss how imperative it is for us to let go. We need to open up the treasure chests of our pasts and hearts and pour the contents out, before God, as an offering. He wants to return to you the things that will benefit you and the path He has chosen for your life.
In the second chapter of the book of Habakkuk, God speaks to the prophet and tells him to write the vision. Record what you have seen and heard, so that others may see it and be able to take up the cause and run with you.
The voice of the Lord is speaking and we need to quiet ourselves enough to hear what is being said (the revelation/vision) to us. We want to witness a mighty move of God; and He wants to do it.
Today, we are going to discuss our important it is to seek wisdom, when it comes to what we need to do in order to see our dreams come to life and manifest themselves with signs following.
The year came in with a bang and seems to be going out the same. 2010 rolled in with major snow storms in cities and states that had been used to mild winters. I believe it was the same, spiritually. There has been some unusual activity, in the spirit realm and in the lives of the children of God.
I am going to talk about some of the lessons that I was confronted with, during this year, and how I believe it will impact 2011. I hope you will join me, by calling in and sharing some of what God has shown you during 2010.
There is an air of competition within the confines of the scriptures; "Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules." 2 Timothy 2:5 - What happens when that competition spills over into the work of the gospel and not keep itself confined to our diligence to finish what we start? In Philippians 2:12, we are encouraged to work (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete)our own salvation with fear and trembling. On this episode, my special guest is none other than Dionne Price, author of How to Conquer the Spirit of Competition.
We are going to ask the hard questions and expect God to speak through my guest and the open dialogue we will share. Please do your best to join in, by calling or being a part of the chat. We would love to hear from you.
Write the vision and make it plain - What happens when your vision clashes with the acceptable 'norm' within your circle? Women are faced with many challenges, being called to the ministry, should not be one of them. Unfortunately, it is not the case with many of us. This show will broach the subject of some of the hardships women face, when called by God. We will talk about ministry, family, careers and how it affects each of us, uniquely. Join me and my very special guest, Apostle Tracy Foreman, the visionary for Women Speakers Galore!
There are so many questions that enshroud the minds of young adults, as it pertains to interactions with the opposite sex. "Is he/she the one?" Or, "Is he/she into me?" Joe Darko is a college student that has researched these questions and many more. He teamed up with Nesha Rosado and together they have written a book, "Understanding Relationships 101: For Young Adults." Join us as we discuss this HOT TOPIC and see what wisdom can be shed on the subject of young love.
So often we forfeit the peace of God for the guilt and shame of our pasts. God's grace is intended for us to live outside of our circumstances and inside of His unmerited favor. The Renewed by Grace conference is for those who have been held hostage by memories of times gone by. Join us as we speak with Harriet Cammock, of Harriet Cammock Ministries, the visionary of the conference, as well as guest psalmist Reggie Williams. We will dialogue about what we expect God to do for those who will allow themselves to be renewed by grace.
