Description

Hey friends and trolls. It's Stormy Daniels. I’m a writer, an activist, a stand-up comedian, an actress, a psychic medium, a director, a porn star and a witness for the prosecution against former president Donald Trump. I’ve been celebrated on :60 Minutes and doxed by MAGA lunatics. Some a$$hole even shot my horse. I’ve had my name dragged through the mud, my privacy destroyed, and my life turned upside down. You may know my name and what I’ve done, but do you really know who I am?  This show is a chance for me to set the record straight once and for all. Welcome to Beyond Norm.

Listeners can still access the entirety of the Mea Culpa archive on this page as well.

Kathy Griffin, has gone through hell and back at the hands of Donald Trump and lived to tell her tale.  I love this woman; she has treated me with respect and empathy from day one. She knows what it’s like to face the firing squad and the full might of the MAGA Machine as it tries to destroy you. In 2017, Griffin was publicly ostracized for a photo shoot in which she held a fake bloodied and severed head replica of Trump. She lost jobs and tearfully apologized at a press conference a few days after the photo appeared on social media. In 2019, she released a self-financed film about how she was federally investigated for conspiracy to assassinate the president and blacklisted in Hollywood. Now, seven years later, Griffin is readying her comeback comedy tour and is set to hit the road with her My Life on the PTSD List tour. A two-time Emmy Award winner and cancer survivor, Griffin is fierce and funny as hell. Kathy Griffin Welcome to Beyond the Norm.
My next guest is a part of a special sisterhood of victims having been allegedly assaulted by Donald Trump. Alva Johnson, a former campaign staffer says Trump assaulted her in 2016 when she was working as a campaign staffer for the former president. In interviews and in the lawsuit, Johnson said Trump grabbed her hand and leaned in to kiss her on the lips as he exited an RV outside a rally in Tampa, Florida on Aug. 24, 2016. Johnson said she turned her head and the unwanted kiss landed on the side of her mouth. While the kiss was unwanted, it was what came afterwards that made it worse as Trump came after Johnson with the full weight of his legal team; threatening her for violating her NDA. Since then, Johnson’s life has been turned upside down as she tried to tell the world what happened. She joins me today to finally put this manner to rest and walk us through what happens when you try and take on Donald Trump.
Between 2008 and 2012, Tina Nguyen was a politics-obsessed college student and right-wing activist at Claremont McKenna College. Swept up by conservative rhetoric and promises of paid internships and scholarships, Nguyen was privy to the early days of the movement now known as MAGA. Now, Nguyen is pulling back the curtain not just on her own story within the alt-right but the full history of the movement, exposing how the right recruits, trains, indoctrinates and builds entire networks of power to bend America to its nativist will. Based on years of dogged reporting and interviews with countless people—from downing margaritas with the first Breitbart writers to pouring over conspiracy theories sent by COVID-19 deniers and even working for Tucker Carlson in the early days of The Daily Caller — The MAGA Diaries paints a shocking picture of a shameless movement that will do anything to triumph over the left, even if it means destroying every mechanism of government this country holds dear. In The MAGA Diaries, Nguyen blows the whistle on these dangerous extremists for the first time, shining a light on the systematized on-ramp for young Republicans. These are the new leaders of the right, and we must start paying attention.
Stormy discusses the hypocrisy of the American Justice system and how she can be the star witness for the prosecution of Donald J. Trump in NY DA Alvin Bragg’s “Hush Money Case,” but her own lawsuit against the former president can be thrown out of court. “They made a moral judgment,” she says. “Because I’m a porn star I don’t deserve the same protection under the law.” But Stormy refuses to give up. “I’m a pain in the ass,” she says. Later, Stormy welcomes Kris Goldsmith to the show. The founder of Task Force Butler, Goldsmith is an Iraq veteran who has dedicated his life to hunting NEO NAZIS and helping veterans escape the grasp of right-wing extremism. Its end result, for Goldsmith, of a hard-lived life. Entering the Army as a teenager, he’d quickly risen to the rank of sergeant. But the horrors of the Iraq War left him with crippling, undiagnosed PTSD. A suicide attempt on the eve of being re-deployed in 2007 got Goldsmith booted from the service with a less-than-honorable discharge. Stripped of his rank, community, and G.I. Bill benefits, Goldsmith entered a dark spiral, which included sinking down rabbit holes of online extremism. With his one remaining lifeline — healthcare through the V.A. — Goldsmith clawed his way back to the surface. He became a veterans advocate, earned a degree from Columbia, and (four appeals later) finally got an upgrade to an honorable discharge. Along the way, helped secure congressional reforms in 2017 that enabled thousands of other vets to get medical help and challenge their own “bad paper.” During the Trump years, Goldsmith worked as chief investigator for Vietnam Veterans of America where he exposed a sophisticated Russian op that targeted U.S. veterans on Facebook to sow racial and political division. For Goldsmith, that open-source intelligence expertise soon gave him a leg up in exposing domestic threats, including fascist groups targeting American youth like Patriot Front. In the aftermath of the insurrection of Jan. 6, Goldsmith saw a need to give patriotic veterans a positive mission — uncovering extremists and insurrectionists in our midst. Task Force Butler’s work centers on exposing the inner workings and public wrongdoing of neo-nazi groups through deep-dive intelligence reports that can give prosecutors the evidence they need to go after the hatemongers in court.  The work takes a toll. Goldsmith has been sued, and doxxed by white supremacists. But he refuses to give up.
My next guest is Dave Schrader who has spent most of his life immersed in the paranormal. He is an experienced paranormal investigator and host of the popular paranormal podcast, The Paranormal 60 with Dave Schrader. You can also see Dave on Travel Channel & Discovery t's hit TV series, The Holzer Files and Ghosts of Devil's Perch. You may also recognize Dave from his appearances on Paranormal State, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Adventures Screaming Room, Paranormal Challenge, Haunted Hospitals, Fright Club and in the ShockDocs; The Curse of Lizzie Borden & Demon in the White House. From an early age, Dave has been surrounded by the strange and anomalous, from haunted homes to creature sightings, UFO encounters and more. Never a casual observer, Dave pushes claims of the paranormal to the limits by investigating them himself and visiting some of the most active and haunted locations in the world.
My next on guest on Beyond the Norm is famed cult de-programmer Dr. Steven Hassan. He has spent the past 45 years rescuing people from the clutches of some of this nation’s most notorious cults and has of late found himself rescuing those afflicted with Trumpism and its various offshoots from QAnon to various extremist groups. A mental health counselor, Hassan flies around the country to hold interventions with cult victims, enabling them to take back their minds and lives. In 2019, Hassan published The Cult of Trump, a book that laid out what he sees as the former president’s cult-leader tendencies and offered advice for the families of Trump extremists. Hassan joins me today as Trump continues to leverage his stranglehold over the GOP for domination while pressuring those who will not bow to his presence to leave the party. This interview is a long time coming and will answer many of your most burning questions of how it’s possible for someone to lose their mind to Donald Trump.
My next guest spent 11 months undercover with these people. When Amanda Moore lost her job, she decided to go undercover in MAGA land, attending QAnon events and CPAC, hanging with Neo-Nazis and “blood-and-soil fascists,” and palling around with Proud Boys at Harry's Bar in the lead-up to the January 6 Capitol Riot. But what her new friends didn’t know was that she was often recording them, and the result is a chilling portrait “of what the right looks like from the inside. Here’s what Amanda said about her journey in the article she wrote for the Nation.  “I was motivated by my belief that the fascist threat to the country was misunderstood by much of the press and far more dangerous than what was being reported. At first, I had planned only to sell the audio from “Stop the Steal rallies to a podcast and write a couple of blog posts. But I found myself wanting to get a behind-the-scenes look at the far-right movement—to go to events from which the press was barred and observe extremists when they felt they were in their “safe space”—so the project grew into something far bigger: a long-term infiltration of the network of young white nationalists in America.”

Omg it was excruciating listening to Nathan Thrall’s shrill voice. I don’t know how you kept your cool. I liked the angle of having an author to interview but Thrall should stick to writing not shrieking.

Look forward to listening to you and your interviewees Michael. Your pain comes across clearly and what has happened to you is repugnant. In any other civilised society Trump would have been arrested long AGO, wealthy or not. What the hell is wrong with the US? I've listened to your podcasts from the beginning and your despair, anxiety and rage is clearly affecting you. Understandable - I too gave up criminal law due to a nasty defendantnt who threatened my family leaving me leaping when even a car door slammed. Please make sure you have good people to talk to around you to maintain your strength. You are no good to those who love you as a broken man and they are more important than Trump. Pls identify the point when you will step away for sanity's sake.. He got you once.... With very best wishes. Yvonne 🇦🇺

Cohen, love you my friend. Just call him Donald, not "the former president. Donald is more courtesy than he deserves but we have integrity unlike him. Keep it up!

Of all of Trump's abuses perhaps the worst abuses are the excuses the GOP make for him.

How about an interview with Rich Logis, a former Republican pundit and twice-Trump voter who founded the group Perfect Our Union?
