Osteoporosis is a major public health concern, and the most common bone disease. It is estimated that one in two Caucasian women and one in five men will experience an osteoporosis-related fracture at some time in their life.2 Nurse Practitioners are often at the frontline in the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis. Fifty-five percent of all AANP members regularly (at least weekly) treat patients with osteoporosis.
This program will review the most recent influenza vaccination recommendations, clinical data on safety and effectiveness of these vaccines, and methodologies that can be used to increase vaccination in these populations will be presented.
